It's not as easy as this master showes. He made it look simple a d easy. This is one of the sign, you know you are dealing with the top of the line skills Great work.. good to see still people around to do the job right BRAVO SIR.
Wow, the labor on this resto has to be more than what a decent used one would go for...that car looked like it had been sitting for years in mud up to the gunwales. Gorgeous in the end but, wow again
Beautiful car, lovingly restored when most would have said it was too far gone. Aside from a few odd welds in places and the use of lacquer paint it will be a nice addition to the owner's collection.
Magical work. I wish the video was narrated by the team that did it instead of the polished marketing, repeating lines about Mercedes we could get from an advert. Yes they designed and built this beauty but the restoration work is the true skill and worthy of a meaningful mention.
That’s not the point of this restoration. They’re not trying to “flip a house” with this car, they’re most likely doing this to challenge themselves and to treat the process like an art form. Alternatively, it could’ve been the request of a rich client (maybe this was the car of said client’s great-grandfather).
Car restorations like these are rarely investments, this car is a classic that is worth restoring to keep it alive. Money isn’t everything when it comes to cars, people are very passionate about these things.
Excellent work but the cost would be many times the value of the finished vehicle A labour of love but not cost effective for whoever paid for the restoration
With enough time, money, and talent a lot can be done, but man sometimes you have to wonder why. Couldn't they find a better car with some of the money they spent on this just getting to ground zero.
I am not sure we are seeing the full picture; perhaps due to video length but its not enough to say you did; we need to see work being done; at least an example. and where did all the missing parts come from? didn't see a powertrain or suspension or upholstery.
I dunno, man... it seems like fabricating a car from scratch would be easier than fixing all that rust! How much of the original car do you actually have to use to be able to use the original VIN number and crash safety approval?
Sadly due to the BABVVO and TEBBVO laws, all petrol cars will unfortunately soon be banned from public streets in the EU, CH USA and Scandinavia :-( In Germany, the Green People's Party has given the order to shorten the fuel supply from 2025 by reducing all conventional gas stations to just one state-run central gas station per city or county Now they even want to slow down all gas pumps by 20 liters per minute to 2 liters per minute... From 2027, some car spare parts will also be banned in the EU... such as exhaust systems, turbochargers and even some engine and gearbox oils. .. California and New York will do the same from 2027... So no more investing in petrol cars... They even created a new type of crime here called emissions and smoke crime . "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung" BABVVO in Germany and HESCHLAVVO in Switzerland and SMORVERBIDDEN in Sweden. Unfortunately, aditionaly the Green Jesus Federal Exhaust Gas Funneling Prohibition Ordinance (BABVVO) will soon ban the driving of combustion engines in public outside of verifiable commuter trips and transport trips, as exhaust gas fun will then be a traffic offense! In addition, the green Jesus of Germany is probably planning to shut down all chimneys and have them filled with foam from June 2025.
And we're buying thousands of tonnes of crap from China all made using fossil fuels ! It's pointless Europe doing anything if the rest of the world doesn't give a shit
1,000 hrs? You can buy one for $130,000 in concours condition (check Hemmings)….looks like someone spent all that money to build a car around a brass plate…hope it had some sentimental value
All cars from the era were equally rust buckets, The reason isn't poor assembly, but the level of technologies, hence manufacturing tooling. Of course, all this, as in modern times, is connected with the cost.
Bullshit comment! This cars had corroison protection according to 1950s standards. Intensive use of salt in winter season on the roads since the early 1960s caused a hell of corrosion issues at any car on the road - except in dessert areas. Same corrosion issues for any european an american cars...... So I would recommend not wirting bullshit
THE SHOP THAT DID THE METAL WORK WAS FIRST CLASS. BEAUTIFUL WORK.
I've never seen a rebuilt of such a rusty car, and I've seen a lot. Great work, great respect!

STUNNING labor of love!!!
It does my heart good to see a beautiful classic like this brought back from the brink of destruction to its prime. Well done.
I am overwhelmed. This level of mastery crosses into the realm of art.
0:12 ... " this 190 SL was in rough shape " ... an understatement if ever there was one.
This is the art of car restoration.❤❤❤
Hello.
Bravo,bravissimo,grossartig!👏👏👏⚙️🔩🚘🏎🏍🐗🦊🪶
What an admirably beautiful restoration job!!👍🙏🏼
Amazing restoration! Not everyone would have taken on such a deteriorated car!

$250,000 to end up with a $125,000 car….
This looks like a stolen car that was hidden in a barn.
Wow at the start I thought this will never happen but then what a restoration 🥰🥰🥰
Gorgeous car!! Awesome restoration!! High level. Regards from Europe Barcelona Spain
That is a beautiful restoration. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for sure!
Really awesome job!!!
Remarkable work! I've restored cars before but never one as bad off as this one.

I’ll never complain about welding a car again! 😂 this is beyond what most could do

Looks fantastic

Good stuff!
Fantastic!
Excelente!
Great work, but won’t the investment in labour, parts and paint far exceed current market value of an early 190SL?

Fantastica ! Maurizio
European craftsmanship at its finest. I guestimate well over 200k for restoration.
I wouldn't dare take on a project of that size and complexity...beyond daunting...

Spent a couple hundred thousand to build the Ship of Theseus in Mercedes form. But it is a gorgeous job.
great work , screws need lining up on the vin plate though.
Nothing is impossible if you take the time to work at it
I wonder what it will look like in another 60 years...🤔
That's a $250'000 job, all in
Wonderfull...
ein Traum ...
This is more like we found a lug nut and rebuilt the entire car around it!
Yes that is art Peace out
👏👍
300k+ restoration probably?
Not sure where all the highly specialized chassis parts came from. Some of these look like intricate stampings
What fidelity to originality...I'd have probably updated the brakes and added an original radio.
Remember Mercedes stocks every part for every car that they build, so you can get wheel cover to whole body if you have the money
Someone wanted that car bad. Over $80K (1,000 hours x $80/hr) just for metal work. Really nice restoration.
👌
Unfortunately it can never be called an original which is where the money is at, but fantastic workmanship, hate to think what the cost was.
Interesting what was price for this full restauration

was this a 5yr or 10yr time lapse of the project in your garage? Very nice job. Hope you charged at least $20 to $25K.
How long did it take days and hours?

At what point does it stop being a restoration and start being just a “new” car build?
Woooow.good job. Looks really great. Thanks for sharing.
Compare it to asian fake videos. 😂
Why did we not see it running, only pics, bit sus!
Ok
Whoever paid for this has very deep pockets.
There must be only 10% of the original car remaining
That thing was roached!

Come my man the engineering quality is light years ahead of US cars of its era!
Most rust problems were solved by proper electrostatic dipping in baths with zinc undercoats! More about late 70's onwards.
