Do you have the need for speed? Have you ever wondered what Barbie would look like if she hit the gym? So many questions, this video has all the answers 🤡
The barbie gym thing was in my mind for a quite a while 😂
Thank you for make it real and for that tutorial ❤
🤡
Thank you Marc, I watched it at 2x speed to learn how to draw faster faster
lmao
I put my brain in 2x mode to read this comment on how to learn how to learn faster faster

Marc has an amazing ability to upload tutorials just when we need them. he is a genius of the lamp, or rather, a genius of the timing.
What have you learned and how did you apply those teachings? Do you have any sketches I can see ? Thanks❤
I know right, it's like, I'm literally thingking how to do X thing and BOOM, Marc appears with literally that tutorial xD
@@AbnerTheOwl NO FR THO like wtf is he a freaking mind reader or something???? AND his vids are just so understandable im so grateful for his existence 😭😭😭
Because I have a tendency of overdoing it and trying to jump way too far ahead when trying to draw something these tips will be a literal godsend for me once I've internalized them.
Same. I am always so inpatient to finish a piece!
so i’ve been paying more attention to the tracked times on my drawings lately, and getting about an average of about an hour for anything from a sketch to a fully-detailed piece.
*but i’m curious what your average times are* for a character piece like this one? a sketch? an environment? *what do you remember being the “industry standard” at blizzard, and do you still adhere to it? is that standard still the same today?*
i’d like to keep getting faster at drawing, but working w/ a timing guideline feels the most effective
Every time i i am in my comfort zone i feel like i don't put enough effort into my art. Because i feel comfortable and basically starting re-invent art-style again, and again.
staying in your comfort zone is probably the greatest advice you can give any artist, improve little by little don't try learning new things with every art piece
Never stop what you do Marc
Your tips are always so helpful
Happy to see I already use these precious tips on my work! Keep up the good work!
I'm still at the very very early stages of my artistic journey and your videos are so inspiring!
Thanks to your channel i was capable of improving so much, thank you ❤️
been sick for a month and decide to start study again, thank you so much, this is really-really help me out for me
Thanks for another amazing class! I'll be sure to not be late next time! This is truly helpful and surely has helped me improve my workflow.
Have an amazing time in Hawai Marc! ❤
Yessss this is a perfect class for me right now, how do you do this every time teach!! Love your classes as always!!
How the heck do you always manage to answer the questions i am always asking the very day you upload a vid with the answers?? You are like the best art teacher for this drawing style online!
Thank you! You reminded me to focus on one particular thing, I was feeling kinda overwhelmed by trying to be too good lately.
Marc I love your content, u make so much for the comunity of digital art !
Love you, Mark! Been following every video tutorials/tips you posted ever since the start of my digital art career during the pandemic until today and improved a lot. One of the best art teachers!
Thank you so much for this course! I admit I was a bit skeptical with that thumbnail but it really makes sense! I will actually take your advice and make that bar chart for 3d art so I know what I can aim at! (I'm mainly focusing on 3d, your help does make sense for all art!)
Thank you so much! I really needed to hear the tip about comfort zone... I've hated my art so much lately I just keep trying to do new things and it is frustrating when it comes out as shit... I gotta learn to take it slow.
So ,this way. I can balance out between learning new things and work in my comfort zone. Thank u, Marc.
Anyway ,when I go practicing new things. I think I also have to balance that out. I wouldn't practice on something that too hard or too easy for me.
Marc. Gesture drawing is kicking my ass, but every once in awhile i manage to get one done in the timeframe that actually look anatomically okay and the dopamine rush is amazing
Don't underestimate the power of long studies tho! 20-40 hour studies really puts you into a deep learning kind of state which allowed me to make massive progress in a short amount of time. I see many beginner artists doing these insanely fast 1-5 minute gesture drawings which I don't think is the right thing to do as a beginner. There are so many things you need to learn before figure drawing, like good lineart, perspective, constructive drawing, measuring, proportions, composition and anatomy.
I vehemently disagree for most students, but whatever works for you!
I am about as self taught as self taught gets and almost never have done a study. Genuinely not sure if I can say I have at all. Generally once someone understands shape language they can progress in any direction that they find fun, more often learning based on what styles of art speak to them. Perspective for example would be awesome to know for comics but for cartoons? Nah measuring and proportions are a more important skill to build. At the end of the day though a study is not the only way to... well study these skills. Studies are at the end of the day focused art and a good reference in what you want to get better at is all you really need. I practiced perspective the other day because an outfit I was looking at the other day was in a pretty awesome pose I wanted to steal. My friend has been practicing art unwittingly (something I won't point out to him) by simply drawing what his characters and personal interests are.
Lots of words to say that people need to enjoy studying and studies are not the fun way for a lot of people.
Marc you the man! Been thinking of how to become more effective with my time
i love your art!
Thanks dude 🙏🙏 I needed this
I was just thinking about this topic yesterday. Gonna enjoy this vid. 🖤
Best digital art teacher

Also, your artwork is stunning!
nice class Marc, your work are fantastic! I love your art and your bald head!
Thank you, that was really helpful! Especially the last advise in my case! ❤️
This man is an absolute champ
Yes! This is it! I always thought to myself should I zoom in or not while drawing whether digital art or pixel art and none have answer to it!
Thank you, Marc, for another good drawing tip. This should come in handy. 🙂
Amazing advice
As soon as I started watching your videos i can really see the improvement, thank you mark !
Take his course and you will see more improvement. I just started with Semester 1 and I am noticing some gains. Its made me try new things already.
the shape of ur artstyle is so goregous uauuauauagg
My god you are a life saver!!!!
So useful, thank you !
6:18 I really liked it when Marc said I'm not a loser😆!!! Feels nice
Notes:
Do not zoom in! Do not waste time on small details that will eventually go to waste, or you can use a bigger brush. You should try setting the size at the display size it will show up ads.
Break up different parts of drawing into three segments: big, medium, and small. As you complete one segment, you may move onto the next.
Most importantly: work mostly on what you're familiar with, and introduce new things, lightly and slowly. Don't overwhelm yourself!
Awesomeness sir. Love that you're in Hawaii 🏖🏖🏖🌴🌴🌴
Art school hawaii les gooo this season's going to be wiiildd
Drawing god sensei hope you're enjoying your trip. Your video comes in perfect timing because I am RIGHT NOW working on a dinosaur piece and I am MEGA zoomed in trying to draw every single bump on the skin properly and it's gonna take forever! Lmao
Tbh I really needed this. I hate how long it takes me to draw something 😩. Thanks for the video.
WOW NEW BACKGROUND🔥🔥🔥
Oh hi marc, this video is so amazing
Nice, was wanting to watch a marc video
Gosh it's crazy this information is just given out for FREE!!
ive improved so much recently and it seems like it's largely because of your tips, thank you greatly!

That intro is literally me rn lol. I took a break, but your videos always get me hyped to get back to it.
Since the explosion was at the end, that means this lesson went out with a bang
YES!
Damn I was early, thanks for the good video as always!!!
Literally stuggling a lot and this vid came at the perfect time
Hello Marc, I speak Spanish and I watch all your videos even though I don't know English haha. I use subtitles and I read the entire video. You've really helped me a lot, and I have a question about the art program you have. Will it be available with subtitles for people like me who don't know English? I would love to buy it, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to understand it. Please let me know, and thank you for everything.
P.S. , I wrote this comment using a translator haha😂😢
Thanks! There are only English subtitles for now, hopefully Spanish will be next within a few months!
May I ask for portuguese too? Brazilian here heheh

Love!!!
First Hawaii....now Japan? I pray you enjoy yourself.
Ooooooooooooohhhhh this calllllls meeee out harddddd on the comfort zone thing. I’ve been pushing overloading amounts of challenge in every thing for years and all of my pieces take months and are mostly unfinished or if finished eventually I ended up hating it as you said…. >_
Wow I'm amazed on how you did the body, the structure, lineart, how you went building everything.
4:00 I want to try but I have a question, can I use blender for the 3d themes? Thanks
3:58 I hope to be in that number as soon as I can
Marc: "don't. zoom. in."
Me a traditional artist: I could zoom in?!
I go draw now thanks
This might sound weird but I find zooming in makes you feel more...closer to the character or background you're drawing, more so when you want to refine finishing details and taking your time that you literally really throw yourself into the world you're trying to create until you can't anymore then recharge completely different experience though when you're crunching on a deadline
Thanks for the beautiful lady in the beautiful dress, Mr. Marc. Oh, and for the tips :D
gracias
I like Marc's way to work with mass. Much easier than in many books described.
Hi marc ! Maybe you could publish more paiting demos alone in a second channel ?
I love the videos Marc, but I was wondering, do you know of any good art communities to join?
Hi Marc, I was writing to know if/when the Art School Mentorship (Feedback upgrade) would ever be available again, and if so, is there a rough timeframe for that? Im excited about the course, but am more interested in it WITH the feedback module. Many thanks in advance & kind regards,
Dude I was literally thinking yesterday "man I wish there was a solution to speed up my drawing"
Marc do you read minds?
that "maybe i need to put more into this" .... I feel called out and its just in the intro XD
I'm guilty of over detailing, helps with my anxious state for some reason:'l.
Its easier to not zoom in when you have a 16' drawing display or larger. At 13' or less you just don't have the screen space to effectively draw without a little bit of zoom. I agree with not zooming in beyond what is visible at 100% on a reasonable resolution screen. Your thoughts on this Mark, or anyone else?
This barbie didn't skip arm day. I'm jealous. She's got bigger guns than me!
see the bts in the window reflection was rlly funny, especially when the explosions started
Man really making content even on vacation. Give him an oscar.
Bro is on vacation and still grinding the UA-cam Artschool. Anyway, speaking about drawing fast, there does is something that I see almost every week. To add flat colours to you your drawing, you just make selection around the whole object (like the girl here). Yes, this way you can fill the object without messing things up. However, to me at least it looks like high risk of wasting time if something goes wrong. So in conclusion if you can’t understand what I just said (I couldn’t:D) do you recommend it?
if your lines are clean enough sure :) mine are full of holes so it's faster to lasso tool than fixing them
@@YTartschool ah I see, :D thank you vey much
Marc thank you for the video as usual. One question though, after watching your one year learning art plan, I thought to myself what if I have a lot of time to practice ? Is there any change to the schedule ? Thank you in advance
I’ve been taking his full course for a year+2 months now. Since, like you, I also have a lot of free time, I took his advice from the one year plan and added gesture drawing every day before I start my coursework. Definitely enough there to keep you excited/improving if you make it a goal to finish your homework
@@hanzflackshnack1158 I only started for 2 weeks now and have been grinding gesture drawing a lot. Maybe I need to spend more time into the schedule then. Thank you for the reply
6:06 nice brush :3 piece of cardboard box brush :3
Oh, don't zoom in?
*Bobby Chiu has entered the chat*
Hei mark is this new studio?
Marc, I really love your work and would like to buy the course, but the price for me living in Brazil it is really expensive, is there any chance people out of US to get a discount?
Thank u, Marc! Another great vid. 😊
I zoom in alot.....Alot. 😑
I had to think about this a little, since I hear conflicting advice on 'your comfort zone'; but then I realized it depends on your goal. Are you trying to improve yourself? Or are you trying to actually make progress on things? Each requires a different risk. If you want to improve, you need to take risks, do new things, and accept delays or even taking steps backwards. But that's how you improve, through failure. But, do you want to actually get stuff done, and make it deeper into projects, or get more repetition in your practice? Well, for that, you need to lean on what you know and play to your strengths.
In the end, it's about knowing your goals and balance. I've seen professionals that start to stagnate because they focus so much on productivity and not stepping out of the comfort zone, because it slows their output (and paycheck). But then they fall behind in their skills. Or, like me where I spend so long trying new things that I never accomplish much or even progress in a project to actually get exercise and repetition in. It requires balance and a bit of both. And personally, given my experiences, I'd agree you should lean more staying closer to your comfort zone. Just don't neglect self improvement.
Btw can you remake those earlier videos in your art course? It feels too much like a Robert Marzullo tutorial.
Hi Marc, I am really interested in taking the online school course, but I would like to know if it is available with Spanish dubbing or subtitles, best regards.
draw oppenheimer and barbie next
Idk if this is helpful, but recently I had an idea that would be an addition to the "stay in your comfort zone" advice.
If you are like me and have a very vivid imagination and you see the picture you want to draw crystal clear in your head, just try to squint with your inner eye and blur it out!
I mean if you only have a very rough idea or concept in your mind and then keep working on your painting it's more likely you are happy with the result, because it looks much better than that blurry image in your head. If you keep painting you will get better over time and have joy because you focus on/ see your improvements compared to the paintings before...
but If you imagine a masterpiece with all it's details and super professional rendering, you aren't even have the needed skill to achieve yet, you will only feel miserable, because in compairson to that, everything you have created looks like a failure. You will focus on your mistakes and realize how your "bad and ugly" attempts don't live up to that perfect idealized standard you set for yourself and you will come to the "conclusion" that you are not good enough or worse that you will never make it.
Cut out your inner asian parent and stop doing "Emooootional Damage!!" to yourself by setting unrealistic goals 😅.
