Lots of wisdom in this video. I’m an older retired guy. I agree with everything Justin said. I was able to retire at 58. Follow his advice. Never buy a new car. Depreciation sucks. I recently bought a used e89. I do almost all my own maintenance but I still had the best BMW Indy around do a pre-purchase inspection. Cost $125. He gave a good written report and I’m using that report as a list for preventative maintenance I’m doing now.
Great content Justin, Love watching your videos brotha! I own a 2007 328XI and it’s been quite a journey with this baby. I purchased it Jan 2017 with 99k miles, right at the 10 year mark, when everything started to fail LOL It’s a beautiful car with only 1 previous owner who had it serviced always at the dealership, but a few months into my purchase things unfortunately started happening lol I’ve done all repairs by DIY, because if not I would legit go broke lol As of now I’ve change the Starter, Control Arms, Strut Mounts, Battery, Bulbs, Valve Cover Gasket, Ac Hose Line, Alternator, and more lol Bought the car for 8k and over 10k into it now. If I sell it I will be lucky to get 7-8k back. For all my people out there, just do your due diligence before getting into something! Like the saying goes “ you can’t own a BMW and be in a relationship at the same time” 😂 My girlfriend hates my car, and for now I’m still in this love triangle haha
Well your mistake is to get a car with high milage. You have spent almost 20k on a car that is 10 years old with 100k miles. With that money you could buy a brand new modern car. Any car with that milage will require extensive services like struts, control arms, battery, alternator, starter etc. and even then they may never perform right. Of course high tech cars have more advanced components hence more things to break.
@@DrCeramicDallasI think he meant he has 10k into it total. Buying a car with more of those 100k miles things done could have saved him some headache, too, but it's not the end of the world. You live and learn.
My best friend just bought a half a truck . New . I'm still shaking my head at what he did.. spent 57000 on a 2019 chev Colorado. Payments are 650 a month . With 200 insurance . So 850 a month just to drive a half size truck . I told him let me buy you anything just give me a limit on what you want to spend. Nope . Went to the dealership . And the rest is history . Oh yea he also got the 8 year warnty. Fackk.. I'm still shaking my head .. good video man . Don't be like my friend everyone .
I think a good tangent to add on to your “research the car” point is look at mileage reliability and part/service cost. I’ve owned my 335i for 6 months and am now in debt because of failed parts.
Justin - another really nice video. I really must agree with the “Don’t buy any add-ons at the Dealership”. You’re right these things cost way too much. We were leasing my wife’s CLA250 a few years ago and they tried to sell us a $700 paint sealer/treatment. Now on a 3 year lease that made no sense at all as the paint would surely hold up and the extra cost would have been a total waste.
@ArT oF wAr Lol yeah it was fun when I first got it, then the service intervals started coming. The timing belt service cost was ridiculous even at an independent VW enthusiast shop I found through a local car club lol.
Just bought a bmw 2002 for my first car and I got completely screwed over. Just brought it in to a shop and they said it will cost more to get roadworthy/smogged than what the car is worth. ALWAYS get a pre purchase inspection it’s worth every penny and also if you see any red flags like rushing the deal or anything RUN AWAY. Also I didn’t keep any extra money to fix it so that was a big mistake. Anyways I learned a lot and this video covers a lot of what I learned the hard way.
I haven’t watched the video yet these are my mistakes over the last few years (obviously now I fixed up, my current car is good). The most important one is checking the car over even if the car is $1000 just to get your shirt dirty and go underneath the car check for oil leaks check for signs of accident damage like in the boot the front bumper... see that the fenders lineup and also check all over and make sure the electronics work, do you know how much a simple window regulator can cost? Or do you know how much the AC can cost to fix? Meaning check this stuff. Also if you’re buying a car on finance add up all the figures.. even if it means wasting the dealers time ... be sure find out exactly how much the car is costing you too own..... you can’t trust most dealers they’ll add on their own markup you will never know they are very sleazy. If the car is of high value something like $4000 or more just pay a mechanic to check the car up trust me you’ll never regret it.
I wish this video came out 2 weeks ago...I made the mistake of buying a Subaru without getting a pre-inspection first and I learned a tough lesson as a result. It needed more work than I had anticipated so I'm now trying to sell it for parts to recouperate some of my money. I'm definitely getting a pre-inspection for any future car purchases, it's 100% worth the couple hundred dollars in the long run.
For the heater part of this video be cautious with kerosene. It can produce a black smoke that's not visible to the eye and it will cause a black film on everything in your garage and cause you to get a headache from the fumes. I switched over to a propane heater for my garage for that reason
nate meanor ...the only time ppl can afford to be happy and excited is buying a brand new vehicle b/c less worries w/ major mechanical issues when compared with pre-owned.
Justin, I've been following your channel for some time now and you are getting better at it every time. Keep up the great work. Your videos are a great help. Also, you mentioned the Water pump and I know it is common on BMW's to go bad sooner than later, have you had any issues with it?
Your new home looks great ! Enjoy it guys !! Now, I bit off subject, I was planning on installing an armmotorsports intercooler . At first I thought that I had the solution on running my engine ( 2012 335i E93) a bit cooler. Of course I will be happy for the extra oomph and gas savings, but that is not the answer. I would like to know if there is any way that I could run the engine cooler. Take into consideration that I live in Miami, and is hot as hell !! BTW I'm running my Beemer on a set of Kumhos 225/40/18 on a set of Racing Dynamics wheels, I love the way they look. Thank for any info

Justin, please your opinion on buying rebuilt title e9x. As they're dropping in value, what are the pros and cons of owning cars that have been declared "totaled". Thumbs up guys if you want such a video :)
Personally I would not buy a rebuilt car, but especially not a rebuilt BMW. These cars are incredibly complicated. When they are involved in an accident, it’s impossible to know the real extent of the damage. Like a wire somewhere that got frayed and is now causing mysterious electrical problems. That’s just me though. Another issue is that full coverage insurance usually isn’t offered for rebuilt cars. Clean title E90’s are cheap now too. You can find them under $5k easily.
I bought a 2011 335i in perfect condition with 58k miles on it earlier this year. My advice to others would be 1. If the car doesn't have extensive service records yet those future repairs are about to fall on your lap. 2. Do a lot of research if its your first time buying a boosted engine, boost leaks complicate things quite a bit
“Never buy an extended warranty”. That’s really important. New or used, don’t do it. I recently bought a Certified used car at a dealer. The warranty would have added a little to the monthly payments, but was still over $1K. When I declined, they offered a special discount. So the question in my mind was, how can they still make money on this AND cover repairs that may arise. It’s pure profit. The business manager at a dealer, not the salesperson, tries to sell you this. They employ high pressure tactics. When I said no, he had scripted responses that put me on the defensive. It was ridiculous. Scare tactics followed. I didn’t buy the warranty in the end, but it took me a few days to finalize that decision. Buying a car from a dealer, new or used, is still an awful experience. I’ve purchased and/or leased 12 new and 3 used over the past 33 years. I will say that with my local BMW dealer, things were straightforward and easy. Unfortunately I really can’t afford them anymore. I was buying much more than I should have been (see Justin’s video 😀). I agree with everything you said, but I would never buy a used or out of warranty BMW myself. Since your’s was new there have been many more tech add ons. Those cars are not designed to last at all. Plastic parts, specialized tools, and more. Honda, Toyota, and maybe a few others for me now.
Buying an e46 330xi with all fluids replaced for around $2000. Shock mounts are good and there’s no rust underneath. Anything to be concerned about. Thanks Jb!

Whaaaaack AF considering I’ve already dumped $1000 into this car replacing the thermostat and spark plugs & coils. 4 months of ownership and almost $2,000 into the car, haha BMWs are great
Just read an article that something like 6 or 7 out of the 10 worst depreciating vehicles were BMWs (worst was Maserati!) - drives home the point that you don't want to buy a new car and take that kind of a hit on depreciation after you drive it off the dealer's lot. Remember: EVERYONE drives a used car! I like pre-ding'd cars as it is such a terrible feeling to take the first rock chip in the windshield or paint scratch when you haven't parked far enough away from the door to the mall!
I bought a 2015 328d Touring a couple of months ago. It had $11K of options on it. That's crazy. $11K retail! deeply discounted by buying it used. The car is beautiful. Showed it some love today with another wash and dry. I did put in a new windshield - what a difference it is to look through clear glass!

The Problem is that any car that I would buy will cost me about 200-300 € per month if my parents insure it as their 2. Car I work on a 450€basis ... If I would insure an opel corsa (2010) or a Toyota starlet (1998) myself it would cost 2.5k (per year) or more and that's just liability insurance If my mother insures a bmw e90 330d as 2. Car it would be 600 per year for liability insurance

Looking for a E90 as my first car so thanks for the tips! I will be saving up to get one hopefully next year as I am soon graduating from high school and heading to college. Hoping to get a LCI 325i or 328i with a manual transmission and spend anywhere from $6500-$8000. I'm debating if I would rather spend more than 2 years from now saving up to buy outright or finance for 3 years with a $2500-$3500 down payment (if I get approved or get help by family) next year. Just don't feel comfortable losing 50% of my income immediately while being in college so that's why I'm considering the finance route. I think it will be a great first car to also hold onto for a long time (hence why I rather have a LCI). Any saying that will help me decide on my finance decision will be appreciated! Until then, I am going to rely on public transportation and keep on living where I live now instead of paying for a dorm.
As soon as a new car drives off the lot, its value immediately plummets by up to 50%. My tip: Seek companies that repossess cars and buy from them, you will be shocked at some of the deals that you can get!
We buy new pay it off ASAP and I keep all paper work for anything ever done to it like oil changes and anything so if we ever decide to sell we have everything. But we keep our cars long term.

Nothing wrong with buying a new car IMO. It just has to be the right car. Buying an unnecessarily expensive ass car is a waste of money, especially when you don’t need it. Personally I’m not a huge fan of used cars just because a good chunk of the used cars I’ve seen people I know but end up turning into a waste of money. I bought a new car because the used car I bought was a lemon to put in lightly. Basically fucked me over.

Hey Justin what would your approach be if it was a CPO Vehicle BMW or otherwise, would you still do a pre purchase inspection? Or just a test drive and maybe give all the electrics a good test- like windows, locks navigation screen etc?
@@GTAYLOR1972 I would almost always buy a CPO bmw. They do a thorough inspection on the car and something as missing the first oil change by 1 mile from the first owner can disqualify a cars CPO eligibility in the future. SO as you can tell they have strict rules when it comes to CPO lol
Brand new is for suckers. Let them pay the depreciation. My 435i cost 63k new. I got it for 33k at 3 years old!!! Cars are getting way too expensive!!!

I agree on not getting a new car. Cars lose their values the most the first 5 years. So 5 years is the sweet spot 👀
If you buy a new car and plan to sell it within the next 10 years, it is a waste of money. But if you keep it longer, it is more worth it.

I'm a home mechanic, have a e90 with 360k on the clock, 320d 2006 paid 500euro replaced the traction control rings on the drives cleared the lights and never looked back. Love your channel
Peace from Ireland 🍀✌️
Nice, im sort of a home mechanic as well. You kind of have to be when buying a used bmw lmao
@@TOMAHAWK813 well when I say replaced the TC rings, since then discs n pads all round, brake sensors, shocks, boot/trunk struts and usual service parts. Have for 12k so doing realy well, never let me down.
I test drive a 98 camaro once, it wouldn’t steer...pro tip! Walk away. 😂
Spot on! Very good advice!
Speaking of extended warranties, not everything is covered which is a total letdown for many owners
True! Went through that with my first car in high school. That experience turned me off from warranties.
Dude love ur channel. I just got a 330xi myself not as new as ur but it's a 2006.
Congrats! It’s a great car!
I follow u on IG redgt06 is my name. Maybe u can follow me sonu can check out the car. I'm doing small mods..I watch your videos all the time ..ived learned a lot from u. Thanks.
A 72 (6 YEAR) month note on a 3 year old car? That car will be almost 10 YEARS old when it's paid off. Something to consider.
When are you dropping the Headlight restoration video fam??🤘🏻
Nothing wrong with buying a new car IMO. It just has to be the right car. Buying an unnecessarily expensive ass car is a waste of money, especially when you don’t need it. Personally I’m not a huge fan of used cars just because a good chunk of the used cars I’ve seen people I know but end up turning into a waste of money. I bought a new car because the used car I bought was a lemon to put in lightly. Basically fucked me over.
Great video, a lot of good information!
Nice video.I like your honesty. And chilled background music which gives simple, easy vibe. But man that beard looks messy )))
Nah, it makes him look like slimmed down gorge masvidal
Bruh! 149k n counting! Dope! Congrats
Thank you!!
You should suspect of any car is too cheap 🤔
The only reason to finance a car, is to pay it off fast to establish better credit.
To late, I bought it! Now I have to live with it and try to love it. 😳
Got my e90 328i for 2000 and she runs perfect
Is there any difference in features of 325i and this one??
lol with 30k you can buy a whole fleet of e90s. nice one!
I need your advice justin
My friend is selling me his 08 328i
It has 188000 miles
His mechanic has changed all the major parts that break at this millage. I already drove the car and it drives like really good. He wants 4000 for it? It would be the first bmw i buy but i feel i can work on it. Please any advice would be appreciated tnx !
Hey Justin, did you get a PPI on your e90 or f30? I’m buying a 2018 230i with 39k miles 1 owner and debating if PPI is necessary. Thanks!
I did not for either of them
@@justinbuice Thanks for responding man. I decided to just buy it after giving it a good test drive and looking over it, I have experience from my e90 ownership. 600 miles later and it's been such an amazing car!
Hello Justin. Im looking to buy a e90 330xd. What do you think about the x-drive since yours have it and should you avoid it and why? Thanks for a great chill video, and cheers from Denmark. :-)
I think it’s great. Especially for driving in snow. It gives you confidence in any weather situation. I did have an issue with a front axle shaft which ended up being a $500 repair, but it is worth it if you will be driving in snowy or icy conditions!
First mistake in car buying: buying a bmw with 90k miles with 3 previous owners. MAKING ME THE 4TH NOW I HAVE ALL THE PROBLEMS. Could have been a lemon car too hence the 3 previous owners. I fudged myself.
Great video man, just curious, what do you do for work besides youtube?
Thanks! UA-cam is my main income. I also do some freelance video work and occasionally work with my dad doing home improvement.
@@justinbuice That's awesome man congrats! Been following you for a bit, keep it up bro just bought myself a bimmer last month so your vids definitely come in handy
dude the house looks GREAT
Do u think u will get a new bmw in the future
bought my e90 335i for 6k and i love it
good vid. Im looking for a g37x coupe with 80-115k miles for around 11k
Thanks! good luck!
Hey Justin what would your approach be if it was a CPO Vehicle BMW or otherwise, would you still do a pre purchase inspection? Or just a test drive and maybe give all the electrics a good test- like windows, locks navigation screen etc?
I wouldnt bother since its already CPO. I bought a CPO e90 and its been great:)
I'd say if it's been certified by BMW then there is no need for additional inspection.
@@justinbuice i got you bro;)
TOMAHAWK813 that is what I was thinking but was wondering what others thought about CPO vehicles.
I got a 08 328i e90 for with 104k miles for 5k
Congrats on the house 🏠 my man!
Thank you!
Brand new is for suckers. Let them pay the depreciation. My 435i cost 63k new. I got it for 33k at 3 years old!!! Cars are getting way too expensive!!!
I bought a car without inspection and turns out the origin owner crashed the car and fixed it without even telling me
So dont repeat my mistake ..... dont buy a car
Lmao 😂. Farting on leather seats is a must.
Got my 2010 E90 328i w 129k miles for 5400
How is the car running for you ? I'm looking to buy the same exact model (328i 2010) but with 127k miles for around $7.4k Any advice ?
ZombieElmo runs great! The only problem I did have however, was the secondary air injection system which somehow lead to one of the cylinder heads to leak oil and had to be replaced but was still covered under bmws SULEV warranty because I have the N51 engine. Seems to be common on the N51 motors so check if the one you’re planning to buy is an N51 or N52 motor
@@Rodriguezrr7 so if its the n52 im good ?
That house is bigger than my hopes and dreams
At the 1:20 mark in the video, where was that footage taken ?
Walmart lol
@@justinbuice Which one ?
Sup brow i think people who love bmw like me have a dressing style like u
Makes sense
3:03 why the hell would this dude have an Apple TV remote in the centre console?
I have an Apple TV installed in my car for my infotainment. It displays on my iDrive screen

Honda tried to give me 23 hundred for my 2013 Optima and give me a 2019 accord sport with less power for nearly 400 a month (lease) I said hell no
Damn lol how was your credit
They were gonna give you 2300 and then go sell it for 12,000 plus fees lol
Привет. Осталось из запчастей что с 90
How to film car vedio on a tight budget
What up Justin
What's up!
Haha that’s an expensive flatulent.
We don’t wanna see your wife we wanna see your BMW.
Sorry not sorry
Rim and tire protection...... Best thing ive ever bought. Blown 7 run flat tires and cracked 3 rims on my 440i on these terrible Canadian prairie roads haha, damn socialist Canadian government.
Ayer first
