Owned a music store during this time period. The morning of Tuesday 9/11 2001 I put out the new releases including the Dream Theater release. (Tuesday was new release day at the time.) I was so young when 9/11 happened that I can't really assimilate the towers as an american symbol, I can only associate them with the tragedy (and also I'm not american). When I think of an american symbol it's always the Liberty Statue that pops into my mind. In my lifetime I could only see what NYC skyline looked like with the towers, through old pictures. My final article for the university will be about 9/11 but I confess that it blows my mind to think of a world before it happened, it's hard to me to just conceive this different reality

I disagree about The lyrics for the Supertramp album. The first song, Gone Hollywood, to me sounds like morning and arriving at work, Goodbye stranger makes me think about all the people that probably didn’t even know each other well but now had to work together to hopefully get out safely. Owned a music store during this time period. The morning of Tuesday 9/11 2001 I put out the new releases including the Dream Theater release. (Tuesday was new release day at the time.) We opened at 10 AM and got a phone call to turn on the T.V. that a plane had hit the world trade center. As we watched in disbelief I told my partner about that Dream Theater release I had put out just an hour earlier. We pulled them off the shelf immediately. Still get chills thinking about that to this day. Unbelievable.

I'll try to be brief, but this is one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to me, and still haunts me now and then. I was working in an office in a small town in New York State. There were women and men in the same office but in 2 different areas. There was a young woman working there who was pretty and nice. I was nearly 30 years her senior. We would say "hi" in the hallway but didn't generally have any contact with each other. One day, out of the blue this young woman came to my desk and asked me if I would go to lunch with her. I was confused but I said "sure". My mind was racing all morning trying to figure out what this was all about. We agreed on a place to have lunch where we could talk. During lunch she told me about a new job she had taken and how exited she was about it. Her new job was in one of the W.T.C. buildings. I congratulated her and she told me about the job, but we never talked about why she had chosen me to confide in about this, as we were basically strangers to each other. We finished lunch and drove back to our office where we told each other how enjoyable our lunch together was, then went back to our work places. I didn't see her again before she left on her new journey. The next time I heard her name was when the tally of names of the dead was announced. I still have no idea why our encounter happened. Why did she choose me to confide in? I can't figure it out and have never told anyone about it before now, thinking no one would believe me.

It’s worth noting that a lot of the depictions of the Twin Towers being destroyed was also just a common trope of recognizable architectural icons like the Golden Gate Bridge, Great Wall of China, or Eiffel Tower being destroyed in movies. The Twins were destroyed in numerous movies, comics and cartoons throughout the late 20th century.
Of course looking back at it now would make those depictions of the Twin Towers exceptionally eerie.
It's a sad thing to imagine. it's the old "Statue of Liberty in disaster movies" I distinctly remember a video game with spider man where the twin towers get destroyed I was born after Sept. 11 2001 but it was a hand me down and my dad saw the scene and was shocked and we checked the copyright and it was before the attacks ( I'm pretty sure a helicopter hit the building as well I could be wrong)

I was so young when 9/11 happened that I can't really assimilate the towers as an american symbol, I can only associate them with the tragedy (and also I'm not american). When I think of an american symbol it's always the Liberty Statue that pops into my mind. In my lifetime I could only see what NYC skyline looked like with the towers, through old pictures. My final article for the university will be about 9/11 but I confess that it blows my mind to think of a world before it happened, it's hard to me to just conceive this different reality

I expected to see Billy Joel's 1976 song "Miami 2017" as #1. It's a song about a dystopian world where NYC was demolished. It contains the lyrics "I've seen the lights go out on Broadway. I put together a themed CD mix called Apocalypse Wow around the turn of the millennium. There were two songs back to back that after 911 were absolutely freakishly prophetic. The first one was the song by the band America, (America target of the attacks, and the planes hijacked were American airlines jets)called Sandman. In the song the lyrics ," he rides the sky like an eagle in the eye of a hurricane that abandoned." Sandman is an Arab, he also represents people being asleep and unaware of an impending danger. Riding the sky like an eagle is an airplane, in a hurricane means a tempest and destroying storm. The eye is at the center of the storm. There is so much in this song that fits 911that it is downright scary. The song that follows is Common (or coming?) Disaster by the Cowboy Junkies. This song is predicting an impending catastrophe. The sound has a sinister dark and hard edge that gives you shivers.

When I do my CD mixes I usually make the first song to represent the general theme for the music, the very first song I used was Patti Smith's horses, but the version I used I took from the TV series Millennium. In that show in one of their episodes a plane is flown into skyscraper.

To me a prediction is if someone says specifically something will happen on a certain date. Like if someone in a song said 'one plane 2 planes in the towers 9/11' then that's a prediction, these for me fall in the foreshadowing area.

If you turn the 'Breakfast in America' album upside down, play track 6 (which upside down is track 9) 'Take The Long Way Home' backwards. You can clearly hear the words 'I killed Paul', right before the bridge.
