We have to agree that it's so lovely to see that despite everything, Ruyi adresses the concubines with their name, not title. It's a small way to show equality and compassion towards them.
Ruyi was the Empress and Royal Mother that the Imperial Chinese Court absolutely did not deserve in this drama. Unlike the first empress, Fuca Langhua, Ruyi was kind and compassionate towards others. She was not easily swayed into negativity, nor did she act petty with the favour that was initially shown to her by the Emperor. She empathised with the situation of those in trouble and was patient with those who had wronged her. She was unambitious, yet was able to rise to the challenge every time she was given a task or responsibility. And unlike her sister-consorts, her schemes were all in self-defence, as she would never ever scheme offensively against others.
Hailan was the only harem member who always protected Ruyi.
Not the emperor hearing Consort Shu crying and staying indoors acting sad at his desk LIKE IT WASN'T ALL HIS DAMN FAULT for a fraction of a second.
One of the few times in this drama that the Emperor showed true kindness and compassion to one of his wives. I was moved by Wallace Huo's performance.
As was I. He truly is an amazing actor. It is so rare we see him so compassionate.

He did.. though it’s mostly because he was guilty of what happened. Consort Shu was crying she said she was too weak for the prince. But in reality it was because he made her take those contraceptives :( sad.

Like the emperor was a hazard and stress inducing to ALL the women in the harem
Actually, it's consort ling who made the 10th prince sick... She gave consort shu poison that cause her kidney weak and so the baby, then she hired the astrologer to say that the prince's star clashes with the emperor so they can't keep him in the palace... That's more cause for him to be weaker

Yes...she willingly goes to console consort Shu concerning the lost of the 10th Prince. She was young and that was her only child that was sent out of the palace. Consort Ling is an evil woman she killed so many consorts unborn children before and after they were birth.
She was also jealous of consort Shu youthfulness, beauty and pure love for the Emperor.
The emperor always regrets too late..

here i understand the pain in ancient chinese children born in royal is easier target or a lot of unknown setback by these emperor secondary wife for all in their mind is their son to be crown prince as this only way where their child survived , or illness that like today is much more easier cured just this part in ruyi love in palace is just too sad
