      Hello Mark ! I was wondering, how do you know when you need a second battery ? I heard that a lot of voltage variation coming from the battery while driving (seen through a voltmetre) is a clue that you an other one or a higher output alternator. I never go under 14V so....yeah ?
      Thanks for the videos it really helps me on a daily basis when working on my car !

      Hi Mark, I use the Blue sea Safety hub 150 gives you power for 4 big amps and plenty of smaller fused outputs for LED’s, processors etc. Check it out for a future build 👍🏻

    Hey Mark!
    Just a quick question I was looking on eBay for a good quality wiring kit, found a Rockford Fosgate one with0/1awg wire but it only has that from the batterie then I had 2 distribution blocks and then they have supplied 4awg wire, is 4awg thick enough for powering a 1200w/rms 5 Chanel amp and a dsp? The speakers are going to be 2 focal utopia 165wrc, 75w rms and 1 focal utopia 33wx2.
    Thanks!

    Hiya Mark, really enjoy watching your videos. Im currently building an audio system total watts 600rms so nothing major but a nice upgrade on stock. Thing is i will be attending some car shows and want to play my xbox i have a 500watt invertor. I am thinking off a second boot battery with a battery relay isolator so not to drain main battery but will i need to run a seperate power line to power radio from this new battery?

    • @jamest.5001
      @jamest.5001 6 років тому

      Chazz Coombes yes. unless you are not worried about the small load from the head unit. I would just use a larger battery. with a bit more capacity. maybe two. up front. along with a battery in the boot. you could isolate only the extra one in front . using it as a jump start. so even with the battery low. you will still be able to start your vehicle. it would be less complicated that way
      have a isolator with a toggle switch. "turn on" the other battery when you need to start the vehicle. or only turn it off when you are going to pull down the other batteries. and turn back on when you are ready to start! I hope this is understandable. and a help.

    Hey Mark,
    When using threaded inserts, do you think it’s necessary to use things like Loctite to prevent vibrations from backing out screws or is it overkill?

    • @CarAudioFabrication
      @CarAudioFabrication  6 років тому +1

      If the install is vibrating so much that screws are backing out you are going to have issues with the gear too. It's one of those things that you can use common sense. If its an insane build with ton's of bass best to ere on the side of caution.

    • @CarAudioFabrication

      Wire is wire. Your main feed and ground MUST be the same size. If they are the same color your amp doesn't know the difference. You should definitely some how mark each wire though so it is clear what is what so nothing gets shorted out.

    Awesome work so far! You were just a bit sloppy on the ferrules. The purpose of ferrules is not only to protect the end of the cable and distribute the clamping force to the strands but also to keep air away from the copper. To gain this you'll need to crimp the ferrule so there aren't any air pockets. In your case you just added some resistance to the circuit.

    Getting great bass and maintaining trunk space? Needless to say I've done a really weird thing in a car that didn't have rear deck speakers I took 3/4mdf and measured the area of the rear deck and made a box for 3 8" subs. And took some L shape aluminum. Put around the box. I then cut away enough of the metal to let the 8s blow into the cabin. And riveted the L aluminum to the rear deck and reinforced it with new metal welded around what I cut out and fiberglassed the enclosure and made a new rear deck beauty panel does wonder bit I've always ask the customer if 1 they wanted that done and 2 if they own that vehicle and its not a rental etc
