Great video! One of the best "how-to" videos I've used. My seat looks much better! I do have a couple of suggestions to add for those who are about to tackle this cushion and cover replacement. Be careful with the felt material - it is rather fragile. I did tear off one of the clips - possibly because I pulled too hard or just at the wrong angle. Also I suggest waiting a little further into the process to cut your opening for the electrical controls. I ended up cutting my opening too high. Because of the new thicker cushion the cover didn't pull down as far as the old one did. So I suggest pulling everything tight and clipping in all but the clip closest to the controls so you can see exactly where to cut. With a new cushion it may not exactly match the opening in the old cover. One more thing - be careful if you press in the Velcro strips then decide to pull them back off. One of my bottom strips starting pulling out of the cushion instead of the Velcro releasing.
I've been dealing with a torn cover and deteriorated cushion for a long time in my 06, same exact color and pattern. I thought for sure I'd be dealing with hog rings and glued on foam. This info is immensely helpful and all your camera angles are spot on! I really appreciate the time you took on this and the knowledge you passed on to help us out! Cheers
Thanks for noticing all the hard work and small details that go into all the videos. The feedback is greatly appreciated!
Mine too. AWSOME explanation. Appreciate your effort.
Just changed mine. You don't need to remove the chair or any of that. Simply remove the straps at the bottom and wiggle out the cushion from the back and done. No ratchet no nothing. 10 min job start and finish. 2006 dodge ram 1500. Exactly same seat in the video.
I just got done replacing driver seat cushion. THANK YOU for such an informative video! I was done in less than 40 minutes. AWESOME JOB!!!
Your welcome. Doesn’t take long and looks like a new seat once your done. Still surprised how well it matches the original
You've made one of the best, informative videos i've ever watched on UA-cam. Thanks to you, my seat repair on my 04 ram was a lot easier and it looks great. Russell
This was the most informative step by step thorough video I have ever seen on here or anywhere! Dude knocked it out of the park with the professionalism. Thanks for teaching us how to and saving money David in Tampa bay. Now I hope I can get a new cover and foam seat for my 08 Ram 1500
The best do it yourself video I have ever seen. Very thorough on every scenario you will run across while replacing seat covers. (A+)
The Bob Ross auto mechanic video producers. Nice, no stress explanation. Well done!
Many thanks. Those are happy seat covers 😂
@@MotorCityMechanicdo you know if there is available seat replacement cover kit for a 2003 dodge ram truck electric seat diver side
You have the best tutorial I’ve seen for this task. I’ll be replacing my cushion following your video. Thank you!
You made this seem so easy. I might give it a try. My seats needs a facelift lol.
Your the best!! Paid a lot of money to the upholsterer to have this done the 1st time on my 2007 6.7l Megacab 2500!! Please keep these videos coming!!.
Scott Gillette thanks Scott! I sure will
You did an excellent job with this video. Couldn't ask for a more straight forward tutorial.
Off The Chain! Way Better Than Taking The Whole Seat Frame Out! Really Appreciate This. Geno’s Here I Come🏃🏿🏃🏿🏃🏿
I’ll be tackling this very project tomorrow! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, it’s given me what I need to tackle things with my ram many times! Anytime I have an issue I search your videos first and always find what I need!
You've taken a lot of mystery out of upholstery. It wasn't that hard. At least you made it look easy Dave.
Now if I had to stitch it....that would have been another story! Great to hear from you Wyatt!
A Dad dadafrra
This is Plug & Play upholstery. Otherwise, you would take the old cover, & very carefully cut the stitching holding the various pieces together. Then you would use each piece as a template, laying them out on your chosen material, & cut new pieces from a roll or two of bulk fabric, vinyl, or leather. Then you get to sew the individual replacement pieces together on an industrial sewing machine. Automotive upholstery used hog rings to secure the covers over the foam & on to the seat frame, perhaps along with a copious amount of contact adhesive. It is amazing how much labor can be involved. Automotive upholsters usually have some very strong wrists & fingers from pulling & stretching material all day long.
I replaced my cover and cushion two years ago. I didn’t remove the seat and fought with the clips for a month. 2006 Mega Cab. Geno’s has great stuff. Glad I found your channel. Thank you for sharing information.
You make amazing step by step instructional video's, second to none, Thank you....
You’re a great teacher -instructed.Great information on your video
That was a great How To video. Leaving the seat frame in the truck saved my back some unwanted pain.
Just stumbled across your UA-cam- best instruction & quality video I’ve come across! I’ve talked with a few upholstery shops and none of them can match the factory look! Thank you for the inspiration to tackle this at home!!
This cover is a spot on match! I still can’t believe they could get it to match exactly like they did. Thanks for watching!
You have covered all the bases sir. Well done.
Thanks Steve! Glad you enjoyed, make sure to subscribe
I love this guy. He is easy to understand and he is very thorough . I wish I lived near his shop because I'd have him work on my 2008 Ram3500 Dually .
Your video was very very well done. Very concise and a good, great explanation.
Your videos are always spot on
Very well explained and demonstrated. Much appreciated.
Outstanding video. I have to replace my entire seat frame as the motors no longer function. I am now extremely confident in the necessary steps for R& R of the complete assembly. You are a most excellent instructor!!
This guy was awesome, he remind me of the instructors in army aviation school. Very precise, keep it up

Dude, you are a wealth of knowledge!!
Very clear step by step instructions. Kudos!
The only thing I missed was all the nonsense about how your dog stained the seats or having a knife in your pocket caused the hole...Thanks for not sharing your life story like all the other guys on UA-cam.
You always are very polite and professional. I like the way you take the time with every detail. This was a great tutorial on replacing the lower seat cushions. I like the plug for Genos I like them as well.
What a great explanation; thanks David!
Best of the best instructional video I've seen on UA-cam! Thank you! I can do this!

Jake Mason appreciate that comment Jake!

My 08 Ram Megacab Laramie still has a proper 90% Lthr seat cond in rear and passenger but the driver not being the same , had me looking for newer model take-outs.
while totally worth it to upgrade ..being unable to run into & find a genuine deal , it just hasn’t taken top priority.
This vid quality and info / link has made me decide qik what I can simply do and enjoy the results. Thank you.
Dave I replaced my 2012 Jeep oil pump thanks to you. Your videos were a giant help. Hope the new shop is going good Thanks again

Could have used this a few months ago when I was retrofitting a Ram 1500 cushion to fit my 06 Dakota. Great video!
V R your welcome and thanks for watching. Took me awhile to do this one, got busy with customer work mid way which explains the hair being short and the hair being long long
Good upholstery tips and information Dave 👌
Antonio Claudio Michael thanks man!
Great channel
Excellent video Dave. Keep doing what you're doing.
Did the same thing to my 2001 2500 years ago, and put leather interior into it. I miss that truck!
Ryan Johnson thanks Ryan. Leather with heated seats would be awesome
Great video. Very clear instructions. Subscribed.
AWESOME tutorial, bro!
wow! hands-down best how-to video, ever. kudos.
Rustycowl L appreciate that great feedback and for you watching!
Thanks. Great video!
Excellent training. You took the mystery out of the process. You are right about Genos. They are top notch. Just ordered Billstein shocks off them. Thanks for the very informative video.
Love working with them. Great people fir sure. Thanks for the kind words about the video and for watching as well!
Just watched your injector replacements. I was told I needed all 6 replaced and the bill was gonna be around 6,500-7,500, had truck hauled home been Sitting ever since. Lost my job right after that truck been sitting fir 13 months but just got new job(f..k this covid it killed me finacially) but truck #1 thing on list, batteries dead buying new batteries Saturday having truck hauled to another place I been researching talking to people. Thanks you saved me a ton of unneeded money spending. Wished I could talk with you, there are injectors on eBay, says Bosch injectors ranging from 101-200.00, any find anyone that will tell me why that injector on eBay is 110.00 and dodge house or diesel shops are 500.00-1.200 a pop.
Don’t know what to do in that, hate to buy 110.00 of eBay but don’t have 1,200 fir 1-2 either right now. Thanks will check back to see if a time has posted or replied time post any help greatly appreciated thanks Stev-O
thank you sir I just went to Genos and ordered that very setup
Great video! Its so much easier to remove the seat first. I bought a cheaper cushion and added support on the bottom to keep the springs from wearing through. Geno's cushion is worth the extra money.
Very informative video. Thank you!
Many thanks!
Great video. Very detailed work. Thanks a lot👍
Your welcome and thank you for watching as well.
Very nice quality 👌 cushion and seat cover 👌
Antonio Claudio Michael as good as OEM!
Good job! Really liked this video!
JP Boileau many thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Great job
Many years ago at my old job practical jokes were amuck. Best one I saw/heard of was after a coworker got another coworker, was to slim Jim his vehicle (company vehicle that is) take an open can of sardines and place it between the cushion and seat springs. The open side against the cushion of course so it would soak up the juice. After a few days of sitting in hot and humid GA weather it stunk to high heaven and he couldn't find the source of the smell.
Another nice video David. Good to see you back on utube. By the way, nice looking shop !
Ron Baynes thanks Ron. Loving the new shop as well
Great video 📹
Thanks, just what I needed to know.

Randall cheek thanks brother!
Excellent!
Thanks! Glad I could help out in some way
Thanks for a great vid, Dave. I did this on my 2nd gen Ram a year or two ago. It was actually easier, due to design and I don't have power seats. The aftermarket cushion is more comfortable than the worn out, crumbling 20 year old one, but it's too stiff. I'm a tall guy who sits somewhat upright, so now my head rubs the headliner and I can't get the power mirror on the driver's side to angle high enough for me to use without ducking. This was never an issue with the original cushion, even when the truck was new. Maybe one day I'll try to take an inch or two out of the bottom of it. Also, some of my metal rods under the cushion were broken; I used cut down thick wire clothes hangers to replace them.
El Cheapo your welcome and thank you for watching. This cushion is a bit stiffer and takes some use to “relearning” what it was like when it was new, use to that old flat cushion lol
Great video!!
SCDolphin0 many thanks!
Nice looking wiring under the seat I seen some frankenstine wiring in my day
Nice video.
Dave, it's good to see you again! Hope all is well. Love your videos and Geno's ad well/
Thanks Ken for watching and glad to hear from you

JanTim Bramble just depends how many times you get in and out lol. Hopefully long time for sure
very nice, thanks!
blazeandcyrus thanks and I appreciate you and watching
That was the most in depth instructional video I have seen in a long time!! GREAT JOB!! I need to do the same repair to my 07 3500 Mega Cab. Also I need to repair the electric seat. I will not go up or down or tilt forward/back. It does however move forward and back for leg adjustment. Do you have a repair video for that?
Just what the doctor ordered 👌🏽
Glad it’s still helping people out!
@@MotorCityMechanic Cummins never dies, I’ve had my 06 Cummins since it was new. Still running strong 💪
