Great video! One of the best "how-to" videos I've used. My seat looks much better! I do have a couple of suggestions to add for those who are about to tackle this cushion and cover replacement. Be careful with the felt material - it is rather fragile. I did tear off one of the clips - possibly because I pulled too hard or just at the wrong angle. Also I suggest waiting a little further into the process to cut your opening for the electrical controls. I ended up cutting my opening too high. Because of the new thicker cushion the cover didn't pull down as far as the old one did. So I suggest pulling everything tight and clipping in all but the clip closest to the controls so you can see exactly where to cut. With a new cushion it may not exactly match the opening in the old cover. One more thing - be careful if you press in the Velcro strips then decide to pull them back off. One of my bottom strips starting pulling out of the cushion instead of the Velcro releasing.

I've been dealing with a torn cover and deteriorated cushion for a long time in my 06, same exact color and pattern. I thought for sure I'd be dealing with hog rings and glued on foam. This info is immensely helpful and all your camera angles are spot on! I really appreciate the time you took on this and the knowledge you passed on to help us out! Cheers

Just changed mine. You don't need to remove the chair or any of that. Simply remove the straps at the bottom and wiggle out the cushion from the back and done. No ratchet no nothing. 10 min job start and finish. 2006 dodge ram 1500. Exactly same seat in the video.

This is Plug & Play upholstery. Otherwise, you would take the old cover, & very carefully cut the stitching holding the various pieces together. Then you would use each piece as a template, laying them out on your chosen material, & cut new pieces from a roll or two of bulk fabric, vinyl, or leather. Then you get to sew the individual replacement pieces together on an industrial sewing machine. Automotive upholstery used hog rings to secure the covers over the foam & on to the seat frame, perhaps along with a copious amount of contact adhesive. It is amazing how much labor can be involved. Automotive upholsters usually have some very strong wrists & fingers from pulling & stretching material all day long.

Just watched your injector replacements. I was told I needed all 6 replaced and the bill was gonna be around 6,500-7,500, had truck hauled home been Sitting ever since. Lost my job right after that truck been sitting fir 13 months but just got new job(f..k this covid it killed me finacially) but truck #1 thing on list, batteries dead buying new batteries Saturday having truck hauled to another place I been researching talking to people. Thanks you saved me a ton of unneeded money spending. Wished I could talk with you, there are injectors on eBay, says Bosch injectors ranging from 101-200.00, any find anyone that will tell me why that injector on eBay is 110.00 and dodge house or diesel shops are 500.00-1.200 a pop.
Don’t know what to do in that, hate to buy 110.00 of eBay but don’t have 1,200 fir 1-2 either right now. Thanks will check back to see if a time has posted or replied time post any help greatly appreciated thanks Stev-O

Many years ago at my old job practical jokes were amuck. Best one I saw/heard of was after a coworker got another coworker, was to slim Jim his vehicle (company vehicle that is) take an open can of sardines and place it between the cushion and seat springs. The open side against the cushion of course so it would soak up the juice. After a few days of sitting in hot and humid GA weather it stunk to high heaven and he couldn't find the source of the smell.

Thanks for a great vid, Dave. I did this on my 2nd gen Ram a year or two ago. It was actually easier, due to design and I don't have power seats. The aftermarket cushion is more comfortable than the worn out, crumbling 20 year old one, but it's too stiff. I'm a tall guy who sits somewhat upright, so now my head rubs the headliner and I can't get the power mirror on the driver's side to angle high enough for me to use without ducking. This was never an issue with the original cushion, even when the truck was new. Maybe one day I'll try to take an inch or two out of the bottom of it. Also, some of my metal rods under the cushion were broken; I used cut down thick wire clothes hangers to replace them.
