Love this little 50cc build i currently have a minimoto with a 50cc its being done up as a drag bike and your turbo install was helpful no one else has actually managed to get one properly working on a small 2 stroke amazing job
Hi mate u can up jet the carb and put racing Reeds in the carb too we used too do it too our mini moto bikes there same engine also u can get the water cooled engines for these … Steve from 🇬🇧
Get a long distance expansion chamber for high revs or the short distance expansion chamber close to cylinder for low down power band simply put… cool build
So since this is 2 stroke and oil is mixed into fuel does that mean the turbo doesn't need a oil feed for the bearings? Only 2 stroke I own is a 5th scale RC car so I know nothing about 2 strokes otherwise
who says you cant turbo a 2 stroke? it can definetly work you need to properly tune it and have an expansion chamber before the intake, but it can absolutely work
Hey Mike, i've replaced a lot of 2 stroke clutches like the one you have there, just sharing a trick, take the sparkplug out, put a rope into the cilinder to jam it and stop the clutch from rotating as you undo the bolts, works wonderfully, then you just take the rope out once you done
Don't let people tell you that a turbo 2stroke doesn't work. 2stroke turbos work great...when properly done. You need an expansion chamber and the turbo acts as a restriction at the end just like the stinger on an NA 2stroke. Some boost will of course exit the exh port during the period of port overlap, but a pressurized expansion chamber is a feature of 2strokes not a detriment. Even NA 2strokes with an expansion chamber will make measurable boost in the exh pipe without any forced induction at all - its how the expansion chamber works and the pipe doesn't care if there is a turbo at the end of it or not since the intake:exh pressure ratio is still maintained. Banshees, snowmobiles, and jetskis have all successfully ran turbo 2strokes for decades. I would switch back to draw through on the carb instead of blow through since a proper blowthrough setup requires you to pressurize the bowl and plug the vent lines on the carb to prevent going lean under boost. The oil in the premix will help the turbo survive longer in a draw through setup than on a 4stroke that just gets raw gas that strips lubrication from the bearings, and tuning will be much easier.
more Chinese parts on this thing we know what the pro build looks like but full built budget stuff is soo nice to see. new jets or carb bit more fuel for the boost and new clutch should be mint :)
Hey, I've been trying to turn a tao tao quad into a drift kart and was wondering if u had any ideas on what I could do to make it unique. I'm thinking about keeping the original 48cc 4 stroke engine but what could I do to make more power.
with a 2 stroke you need more boost then to have the same power as a 4t boosted. With 2t you have to think about how the ports never close and the carb sends fuel below the piston then is push into the cylinder is on the down stroke on top of that the exhaust doesn't have a reed cage or anything so its always open so you have a boost leak there and now you have another problem with exhaust pressure being weird so now you need have a bigger expansion pipe
You might need to pressurise the gass tank with the boost pressure. Because when you boost carburated engines the boost pressure can push fuel back to the tank causing the engine to starve
So I built one with a Yamaha ttr125 engine and gearbox. It has Yamaha blaster front suspension. I cut 4 inches out of the control arms and used rear shocks off of a xr50 with stiffer springs for my front coilovers. Rear suspension is just a miniature triangulated 4 link setup with a gocart axle from go power sports, using xr100 rear shocks for the rear suspension. The engine is in the front of the thing, I use a Harley Davidson belt drive from the gearbox to the jackshaft then I use chain back to the axle. I also bought a little miniature steering rack from go power sports so the steering is actually really good. I fabricated my own front knuckles that give me 58° of angle, 10° or castor, -3° of negative camber and I don't run toe of any kind. The Ackerman is perfect, the geometry is actually super good. Literally if you can drift this thing you can drift a car. It's 9 feet long, 3 feet wide, on some baller golf cart wheels with these tires that are made for street driven quads. I didn't know that was a thing but, they're low profile and actually super easy to get the conduit sleeves I use on. Yeah so I don't use PVC. It's way WAY too slippery. So I use this like rubberized yellow and black conduit. Its the legit like PERFECT amount of grip. It doesn't last as long as PVC but it's way more fun because its ACTUALLY like drifting a hooked up pretty quick car. It's not like driving a pickup in the snow. So yeah I already put a cam in it, better carb, pod air filter, port matched the head to the intake and exhaust, but its still not enough. So I think I'm gonna convert it to fuel injection and add a little baby turbo. If I can get it to make 20 hp on race gas I'll be STOKED. I was kinda thinking about bolting this xr400 engine I have on it but, I'm a Yamaha guy ya know? Maybe I'll build another one and put a banshee engine in it.
@@itsmikelake dude I LOVE what ur doing here. Honestly IS there a better way to get a jump on your offspring's car control?? Absolutely not. I stuff some garage couch cushions behind the little animals and they'll burn through $50 of race gas faster than I used to burn through $50 in other flammable and toxic things that made me go fast. Yes..we have a couple couches in the garage....1, im american and that's just how we roll 2, it gives all my friends and family a nice, comfortable place to sit as they talk my ear off while i fix their futhermuckin' vehicles. You know what else I've been looking into man? So there's this military surplus engine. I wanna say Chrysler made them. It's a flat 4 cylinder but it's only like 5-600 ccs. It's air cooled, and once you open up the intake, exhaust, run good fuel, advance the timing etc they sound like a super high revving old air cooled veedub. From what I understand the bore and stroke are super common sizes so aftermarket forged components are pretty readily available. Mate the thing to an old Harley Davidson transmission, maybe like a Yamaha virago or vstar, something that's shaft driven... Turbo the thing, forged internals, coil on plug, fuel injection, haltech elite 750, shoot. If it worked we would see billet blocks in 2 years. Thanks for the reply man!! I admire the fact you appreciate your fans. My wife says it's really cool the way you mention your girlfriend and how fond of her you are. She says when girls see sweet things like that, it gives them the ability to forgive all the extremely unfortunate premature infatuations brother ya dig? I'm just kidding man.
You can probably make even more power if you use a real two stroke exhaust pipe from a moped. If you want to make it faster and I would recommend to engine swap it with a Yamaha yz 80 or Honda cr 80 engine and make a shifter drift kart.🤔 Very cool project!
Some things to improve would be I agree with you need a bigger carb im surprised the boost isn’t blowing fuel out the seals of the carb get a carb with jets so you can easily tune the carb that will help I wouldn’t go over 15mm sized carb id just replace the whole clutch with a performance one the 2 shoe one and swap ignition lead and ngk sparkplug cap disconnect the kill switch I’m excited to see how this build turns out plus you’ve inspired me to build my own turbo’d 2 stroke 🤩🤩
It should be. No way that the turbo is hooked up legit. The blow off sounds are edited in(they only happen sometimes, not every time he lets off the throttle). And that carb would 100% be blowing all the seals if it was really running with boost. A 50cc 2 stroke isnt spooling that turbo. The exhaust housuing would have to be 1/4 the size. I'm on the formula sae team at college and am one of the turbo guys (turbo on a 450yzf in our racecar on a motec ecu) and i can confidently say that this isnt making any boost at all.
i used to run a little nos kit on mine with bigger carb and jets. only got around 4 seconds each time with the bottles but it would wheelie when on it lol.

Hang on hang on hang on.... I know running the centrifugal supercharger on a 2 stroke 29cc Walbro carb...668... Could I theoretically run a super tiny turbo 😁🤟 figure it would be somewhat useless unless running the 4 stroke... basically goes out as fast as it goes in :S unless I fundamentally misunderstand how 2 strokes function... which then makes me wonder how I manage to fix anything honestly 😅
Supercharger is fundamentally useless from what I've seen. One person showed gains on they're diy inertia dyno.. and after being part way through designing my own I can definitely see why people question it as I can change the values just by how I define the code 🫤 so would the turbo be possible?

Jumps on ebay immediately...@@hellaflushhonda
@@itsmikelake the like $50 small “GT wings” would be perfect size for the kart lol
Should use a dirt bike engine.
An engine upgrade will surely be imminent for this thing! But first, I want to maximise the 50cc unit 😁
@@itsmikelake love these small builds. 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
HOW CAN YOU READ MY DREAM BRO IN THE LAST VID IM JUST DREAMING I WILL BUT IT AND UPGRADE IT 😂
brp has been making turbo 2 stroke engines for decades. don't pay attention to the naysayers.
Plz make another Vid i think am addicted 😂
Plz as in like dp it yesterday
Hopefully new vid dropping tomorrow 😁
