Hi and welcome to my UA-cam channel! My name is Sunny and I'm a singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada.
So, I recently bought my dream amp - the Two-Rock Studio Signature. And I had to sell my Vibrolux RI to afford it. But I had 20 minutes to shoot a quick video before I met the buyer. So I just set up a camera in the room (Canon 70D) and did this quick comparison. I was honestly surprised that the differences were pretty noticeable. Apologies for the meandering playing at times, but I hope this is useful for anyone comparing these two amps.

Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy going through these videos. Come back often to see my original tracks, covers, gear demos and more! I'm really excited to have you here.
Solid playing man! Really dug both but for its price the Vibrolux hit the mark for me! Might have to snag one!
For sure! It's a fantastic amp! The used prices have gone up a bit since it's been discontinued though.
Much preferred the Vibrolux- that amp sounded glorious
It definitely did! It was my favorite production line Fender before they discontinued it.
Awesome licks and great amps!
Thank you so much for watching! :)
Both amps sounded great, they are different, the Two-Rock sounds fuller but the Vibrolux just sounds pristine, can't go wrong, no bad choices.
I agree! I did play them in stereo and had the vibrolux on the edge of breakup with a pedal and it was such a great sound!
@@SunnyvilleMusic absolutely---great tones on that entire video--nice paying too!
@@glassslide thank you! That’s so kind of you 😊 If you check out my more recent videos, I’ve been trying out the Two-Rock in stereo with a Vox AC10. A much different sound but I’ve been enjoying that too!
I was a '68 Vibrolux fan and owner for years, but they're noisy (so I replaced it with a Carr Sportsman -- a fantastic amp). In this comparison, I'd choose the Twp-Rock for clarity and depth; also that 'rounded-off' sound you mentioned. Makes me want to buy one now.
The Carr is a great amp! I have a friend who jams with one. But yeah, the Two Rock to me has definitely been a big step up from the vibrolux. It’s like all the frequencies are in the right place. I’d definitely suggest trying one if that’s possible :)
It depends on what you’re going for. I preferred the Fender by a wide margin. You can get a Two Rock to sound almost identical to a vintage fender with a big mid and bass cut, and presence and treble pretty high
Exactly! I prefer the mid forward d Tworock sound but that’s easily tweakable.
The Fender sounds really good. The Two-Rock sounds phenomenal!! This is to be expected because it has superior build quality and uses the finest components. I can hear just from the smallish speakers on my tablet the bloom and punch when you are plugged into Two Rock. Of course the Two Rock is way more expensive and whether it is worth it or not is up to the beholder.
If you can afford it and have to have the very best, I say go for it! Even if you can’t afford it, eat ramen noodles for a year so you can! 😝
Haha I agree! The Two Rock is a phenomenal amp and it’s only gotten better in the time I’ve owned it :) I had to sell pretty much every piece of gear I owned to get it but yeah, it’s worth it 😃
Two rock is has way more character and just sounds way more ‘alive’ to me , sounds glorious
It definitely is a glorious amp! And it’s gotten even better with age haha
Super helpful thank you very much!!
No worries Erick! 😀
Can you expand on what that would do? I own a 68 custom vibrolux so I’m curious!
@@cowieson hey! Sorry I didn't get what the question was about. Was it about jumping the two channels?
@@SunnyvilleMusic sorry, just realised I responded to the wrong comment! Although while I’ve got you yeah, how did you set each channel up EQ wise out of interest when jumping them?
@@cowieson no worries! Sure, for me, I like a darker tone so I focus on getting 90% of the way there with the bassman tone stack and then add in the vintage channel to get some sparkle and clarity. I don't really remember the specific settings but most of the eqs were at 12 o'clock. A lot of tone shaping came from just balancing the volumes off the two channels.
Sorry for your loss
Ummm thanks?
@@SunnyvilleMusic sorry. I am being too cynical. To me the Fender sounds so much better. I do not see why everyone wants to sound like Mayer. But have fun with your Two Rock!
@@dj_617 The Mayer thing is all over UA-cam.......I don't get it. I don't care for his playing or his tone.
I have one of these 68 Custom Vibrolux. Stock they come with low efficiency cheap celestions and quick breakup Groove Tubes. New speakers and some JJ 6L6 and these things are crazy fire breathers you can snag for cheap!
Seriously, a hidden gem in fender’s lineup.
The Vibro Sounds the Best of the Two. For way way less money😎
True the vibrolux sounds fantastic. Dunno why they discontinued it.
The Two Rock is solid state rectified which produces bolder more pronounced note definition. However, solid state rectified notes in a Fenderish type of circuit can sound too bold and hard. Love to see the Studio Signature with an option for a tube rectifier like its big brother Custom Reverb Signature.
So true! Do you have a custom reverb signature?
No, but have heard a few and have paid a lot of attention to amp circuits. Two Rock might custom build the Studio Sign with a tube rectifier but we both know they'd add a nice little charge to an already expensive amp.
could you make a compariosn between two rock studio sig vs studio pro? Also traditional clean if you can burrow one
Unfortunately I don't have access to a studio pro but I'll definitely look into making more comparison videos.
I just received mine today , you understand why the TR are expensive .
100% I saved up for two years for mine but sooooo worth it in the end!!
I like the fender a bit more...not as boomy. I think your playing was a bit smoother/confidence with the fender.
That's a really interesting observation! It's definitely taken me a bit to get more confident with the Two-Rock since it's very revealing to your playing. That video was just the second day of me getting that amp. I'm much more comfortable with it now :)
Both sound great Two speaker amps always sound better than one. I don’t care if it’s 2000 more
That's definitely a fair call. Though I have to say the Two Rock does sound bigger in the room. Just something about it having more bass end. That vibrolux is a phenomenal amp though!
@@SunnyvilleMusic after listening again I may agree with you it’s a real 3D tone on the two rock
@@robertrosejr1 For sure! And now having played some solo gigs with it, it really fills a room nicely! Like here - instagram.com/p/CTKqgoJl94z/?
Trust me! For any of you out there that have never played a Two Rock... They blow the Fenders amps out. I love Fender amps! Ive had many of them and i still love them but my Two Rock is hevanly. Especially if you play lead guitar!
Well said man! Which two rock do you have?
Two-Rock has much fuller sound...I love it ! . Deluxe is anyway...a classic iconic amp.
Agreed! I love it too!
How does the two rock take fuzz though I tried it before and it didn’t sound good.
Through a completely clean amp, especially one with headroom like the studio signature, fuzz can sound a little bright and harsh. Though I’ve been able to get great fuzz tones (I use fuzz all the time) through the Two Rock because I generally EQ a little dark (that’s always been my preference) and I have an always-on tube preamp/OD (Tubesteader Beekeeper - a Dumble based pedal) which puts the amp on the edge of overdrive. Fuzz always sounds. Ether into overdriven amps.
Hey, how is the feeling of the guitar/ strings compared to the fender amp ?
To me, it feels like the response is faster with the Two-Rock so it feels a bit more alive than the fender, which was a bit more squishy.
@@SunnyvilleMusic Ok thanks a lot =), would you say due to this your playing and improvising on the fender was easier or better? Or is it just a getting used to the new feel of the two rock?
I am very intrested in the amp, im just afraid its to strict, because i kinda like the squishy feel of most the fender amps.
@@MegaChucklp it took me just a couple of days to get used to the amp and its feel. It really is a lot of fun to play because it gives you back everything you put into it. So eventually the playing felt way easier and more natural on the Two-Rock. Improvising is especially a lot of fun since it's so dynamic :)
The fender just sounds cleaner, sweeter, zingy, more defined, has more character and sounds more controlled (insert guitar buzz words) Almost sounds like there's a sheet over the two rock. The fender also sounds like it would poke out easier in a band mix.
All that said I'm a Dr Z guy so I'm not sure why I clicked on this video...😅
Well thanks for watching! Thinking back, I think I had the mid control up on the Two Rock which may have made it sound that way. I definitely have it more dialed in now, having had a lot of time with it. And Dr z amps are awesome!
Fender amps sound just great. Shame it has poor construction
Definitely the two rock by a large margin. It sounds way better than the Fender to my ears.
It definitely is an absolutely amazing amp that has gotten even better with time.
Two rock seems colder, vibrolux silkier, I prefer the fender hands down because of its character... Hope that helps...
Thanks for watching! They both definitely are fantastic amps!
try swapping the bass n treble wires from the caps on the fender....get ya close
The fender is actually sold now cause I had to pay for the Two-Rock haha. But that's a cool tip!
@James Price: get ya close to the two rock ?
Can you expand on what that would do? I own a 68 custom vibrolux so I’m curious
You are going to miss that vibrolux
Haha while I definitely loved that amp, the Two-Rock is my dream abd I could really be more than alright having that as my only amp :)
Fender Vibrolux!! #1
Fender Sounds better even though no equal time for Vibrolux.
Yeah, honestly that vibrolux is an amazing amp. The best production fender I've tried. Though I have to say I didn't know how to completely dial in the Two-Rock yet.
of the two-rock amps ive heard, ive never been impressed -especially considering their price. maybe its just my ears. a couple years ago i went to purchase a fender DR reissue from a craigslist seller. he had one of these two rock amps and fired it up. i couldn't believe how boomy it was. ...most boutique level amps ive tried or owned (swart, benson, headstrong, victoria) had great tone regardless of if it was MY tone. again, i cant lump my brief two rcok experiences in with those....just sayin.....
Ofcourse!! It's all absolutely subjective and about personal taste. I love Two-Rocks so I saved up for like three years for one but they won't be for everyone. I think that's the wonderful thing about being a guitarist today. There's a lot out there for everyone :)
Why are you sitting on top of the Amps ' I get it you have to adjust the knobs but if you'd back away 15' you'd get a better idea in comparison.
True, very true. This room is a bit cramped though so I don’t really have that space. But I’m moving to a bigger space next month.
It’s not even close, once you learn to adjust the Two Rock, it will blow away the Vibro.
It’s definitely already happened. What an amazing amp!!! Can’t imagine it getting any better.
Vibro all day long.
It definitely is an amazing amp! Shame they discontinued it...
Fender......Quit Freddie fuckin' around with these other wanna be amp.
Hahaha 🤣
