Yeah, the ottomans were old school and didn't bother trying to turkify their subjects too much. Thats why the people the conquered for centuries retained their cultures.
If they really went hard they could have probably left east europe mostly muslim.
They liked jizya tax though so it was preferable to let any natives do their own thing in return for higher taxes.

You should always keep rail subsidized. If you are losing money then drive up the price of transportation by setting more industries and city centers to use rail. If tickets are more expensive than the cost of engines and coal then you will make money. Also interventionistm allows you to make the rails state owned. This means that you keep all the dividends on rail instead so money goes into your treasury instead of the capitalist class. Most of the time this means that you will make a direct profit on rail. This is super important I can't stress this enough. Low infrastructure from not having rail gives you big debuffs. If a state has 85% infrastructure then that means that local businesses have to pay extra 15% to get the goods they need making them unprofitable a lot of time. 100% infrastructure is the indirect benefit of rail. Even if you lose money on rail it's still worth it because without it every industry suffers

    • @andrefasching1332

will cripple your economy long term. By switching the ownership of companies and infrastructure from merchant guilds or privated to stock traded (not sure if the name is right, plaing in a diff languange) you create a shitton of capitalists. With gradual taxation you collect taxes mostly from dividends, meaning that mostly the capitalists fund your nation. Additionally you can build up a massive luxury goods sector for said capitalists. The state of living will increase, as taxes are far lower for the lower strata, the middle strata will expand, the upper strata will be your main income source.
state owned infra like you describe it relies on transportation being expensive wich is (as you might understand yourself) not good for business. Your job is not to earn money. Your job is to help your Nation expand quicker, so you earn more money later.

    • @afridge8608

@Andre Fasching when the options presented are get some of the dividends from capitalists through taxes and investment pool and increase their standard of living or get all the dividends i will gladly take number 2. I would recommend you try out more government owned stuff. For example rn command economy is by far the best economic system because taking the dividends yourself is super powerful. Legit it's insane try it

@@afridge8608 Yeah i tried it. The game will at first say you that you will earn more money but in the long run, you will earn a lot less.
I dont understand anyway how everybody thinks the economy in this game is about money. Its not. Its about growth.
A Nation with very low taxes, laize faire, free trade and only collects taxes via the consumption of luxury goods will have an insanely rich general population and will expand faster and more growth oriented as you ever could.
In my Games i usually stop buildung stuff my self during the midgame, while most of my building gets down by the private sector via the investment pool.
the last 20 years of the campaign i struggle with the unavoidable fact that my industry is so goddamn big that i allone consume 95% of worlds oil reservers and still have a deficit by a lot, while i have a Economy being several billions big. Thats the point where i sometimes switch to command economy as there is little point in additional growth as your economy will by this point only grow via inflation.
But if you want we can play a game. Maybe i am doing something wrong, albeit i dont believe it. Maybe you are doing something wrong, albeit you dont believe it. Mqxbe we both simply get better at the game and have some fun
Having a Cold war with a turbocapitalist and a true socialist Nation could be a lot of fun in my eyes

    • @afridge8608
      @afridge8608 Рік тому +1

@Andre Fasching I don't think that you quite grasp why exactly low taxes and laissez-faire economics work. It's because your capitalists have more money for the investment pool. But under a different economic system the capitalists money go straight to the player. The capital doesn't disappear because the state collected it or anything. In my opinion I trust my own judgment much more than the investment pool. I can choose the state I build, I can choose states with more or less pops, I can choose to bunch up a lot of buildings to get that efficiency bonus and I can get electricity coal iron much faster. The investment pool only builds what is profitable at the time so alot of the time it builds shit buildings like art academies that yes do make profit but I myself know that coal and iron will make much more profit in the long run. In the end its about who you want to use the money. Do you want the ai and the small elite capitalist bourgeoisie class or do you want the player and the honest hardworking proletariat

      2. So you dont like profit? Well i use the profit in order to build more stuff that profits me later, instead of cucking myself for 80% of the game
      3. Boy i know how building works. And i can assure you its the private market that knows best. With the 25% Gov building capacity i usually build nothing more than electricity and infrastructure as my privats doing all the rest.
      4. I think YOU dont understand how a consumer orientated economy works. But thats no prob imo. i heard you socialists love being poor.
      5. What i want is being the richest country with the richest and most productive population. And that is best archieved by letting the market regulate itself and only interfere if there are serious shortages.
I again think we should simply play a game. Or are you scared to loose? We could also agree on a country and each one plays for themself and we compare afterwards. How about the USA?....or Russia? Idk, il reach Billions of GDP with either of them

Puppets are extremely strong in vic 3, they will never break away, because the game prevents them from becoming a GP. They also give you 20% of their budget, and allow you to expand without having to worry about radicals from taking their states over. The only downside is you can't develop their states, but you can always annex them through a war later on (it's also discounted).
Also, the naval landing mechanic is inherently broken currently, and if you spam enough naval invasions you can tie up their entire garrison in combat and land units on the coast and expand uncontested until some earlier naval invasions fail, and their garrison is free'd up to contest you.

The investment pool will build railways whenever the infrastructure is low in a province. This can spiral if the railways aren't profitable and cannot reach full employment. The fix is to sibsidize railways, and if you want to make some of those subsidies back set them to government run.

Oh and additional tips for you since you asked:
      1. Becoming recognized matters because there's less chance of the AI wanting to dominionize/puppet you, you can become GP with it, and it lowers your interest rate so deficit spending is much easier (and becoming a GP also lowers your interest rate further).
      2. Capitalists love spamming railroads when there's: a) a lack of infrastructure in a state or b) transportation is expensive. Therefore, for a), try and look time to time for states with a said lack of infrastructure since its bad for you anyway, and micromanage the pops in the state from other buildings to rail to stop the AI from building more (you can quickly see it by clicking on the situations button on the top of the screen).
For b), transportation is usually in some ok amount of demand so that most of your railways want to use the "Wooden/Steel passenger carriages" production method, which makes rail cheaper for you by selling transportation, so the capitalist AI won't go ham on it. Of course, if transportation is very cheap, switch back for more money.
Otherwise, on 23:48 of the video you can see that coal is very expensive (marked by the gold icon), so drop the price of this input good by importing or building mines to make railroads profitable.
There are also edge case scenarios where states have an infrastructure and workforce/qualifications deficit, so the AI builds railroads, but no one can work there so it spams them forever. The coming patch will disincentivize this behaviour in the AI.

Some stuff I noticed and wish to give you tips on:
Direct conquest in this game isn't as good as puppeting. When I played the Ottomans, I Puppeted Iran as opposed to slowly eating them. Not only is this less infamy, you get to annex them later, during the wait time they give you payments for being their overlord. You also should have done that with Egypt.
During your war against Egypt and Russia, I noticed that you had your generals on the offense in the Russian front. The Russians vastly outnumbered you, so having them on the offense was a bad idea since you'd be sending your men into the slaughter for no reason, giving you more war exhaustion. In that situation you should tell them to defend.
You were considering switching to consumption based taxation, luckily you spotted that it decreases revenue. Basically, going down the taxes laws increases how much you get from them. Consumption based is the worst, graduated is the best.
Being on high taxes is generally not good, unless you have the better taxation methods. This is because of radicals, basically at stuff like consumption based taxation, you are taxing mainly the poor. Taxing the hell out of pops means they have less spending money, lowering their standard of living, spiking your radicals. The idea here is to be on low taxes to get legitimacy and loyalists, while growing your economy to the point where that is affordable.
Getting police laws and home affairs are important for conservative nations. Having max police and home affairs virtually negates the effect of radicals and turmoil.

radicalism is solved by two institutions, police and home affairs.
(you shuld try and speedrun getting guaranteed liberty and maxing it out as soon as possible to not only minimize radicals but increase loyalists)
liberalizing your vote makes it easier to get interest groups that you need to pass reforms (you want to give industrailists and inteligentia more of a voice than your landowners and eventually you want the same with trade unions and minimize the industrialists.)
its ok to run a deficit so long as you can build into it. you should pause construction only in very dire economic circumstances. its almost always preferable to lower your construction rather than a start stop cycle.
you should always aim to have the most modern taxation method that you can. (the more modern=> the more progressive=> the more lower classes earn and so the more of a voice they have in allowing you to further modernize + more gov revenue means more construction). you should only not do this if you were to lose revenue from doing so. but if that were to happen, it would be unlikely you have the votes to pass said reform.
