Make colonies as Austria
Hey Ludi u can simply capitulate after peacing out the Egyptian and u dont have to fight france or italia anymore :D
23:30 that's exactly why WW1 continued after Serbia capitulated. After all the war started after Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia so the system makes sense in terms of reality. Gameplay wise though it is annoying.
I did come to your birthday party. You just didn't know it.
Vic 3 really be like, click one button and fix the country

Mmmm doesn’t have the same ring to it
Is that a reference to the saying that the ottoman is a sick man etc. nice history nerds

Ottoman experience in:
Eu4: You destroy the mamluks
Victoria 3: You destroy the mamluks
Victoria 3, you get destroyed by Egypt because the Ottomans start without line infantry.
IRL: Russia destroys mamluks
Ottoman players be like:
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?
Egypt would be truer.
@@ComradeHellas fr lol, vic3 kinda shitty rn ngl
Love how even with playing VIC3, Ludi is still in eternal EU4 mindset like calling pounds ducats and calling Egypt the Mamluks.
Love the VIC3 content, keep it up!
I love the duality of the Ottomans in pdx games. They easily have the sharpest contrast between two different games. In EU4, they're the most recommended "beginner tag" because even when AI controlled they are a monster. Endless armies, insane modifiers, and missions/claims to rapidly conquer a vast tri-continental empire within mere decades from the start date. Now they are a shadow _of a shadow_ of themselves, and probably the hardest country in Europe (if not the world at large) to play as n Victoria 3. A few bad choices within only 15 years can doom your entire campaign the same way history did for them.
It's not the duality of paradox games ahahah it's called history and the game is based off history.
@@dr3am5ers ottomans had better army than they had in this game lol
@@okanbokabatan Yeah, it shouldn't be this bad and Egypt wasn't even an independent country rather still a part of Ottoman! The Ottoman pasha sent to rule Egypt organized a massive rebellion and could push as far as Adana during the war but he never ever declared indepedence let go annexing anywhere. In the agreement Ottoman made him governer of Syria, Levant and Egypt so he only increased his governership area. Ottoman attacked him back in 1839 and reduced his governership area to only Egypt again. His dynasty remained as governers of Egypt until British empire invaded Egypt in 1882 and began heavily influencing Egyptian politics but even then it was still a part of Ottoman. Until as far as 1914 that when WW1 began British forces annexed Egypt and establihed a new country.
@@ggoddkkiller1342 fr, this game is dumb or biased against turks n stuff
@@okanbokabatan It is.
Doing blitzkreig as The Ottoman Empire in the1839 is actually the funniest shit I've seen in some time XD
I read the book “the decline of the Ottoman Empire” and yea, the Ottos were in bad shape in the 19th century…
Even the Mahmud the second's reforms couldnt hold that much because of the innefficent rulers later came after.
But then a wild Ludi appeared
Somewhat, they still were a lot more potent than the game portrays them as
@@gaberobison680 Because they were still very potent. During the Russian-Ottoman war, the Russians were unable to beat the Ottoman garrison in Plevna. They had to starve them out. During WW1, the Ottomans did unbelievable work in Canakkale, Iraq and did an amazing job on the palestinian and caucasian front considering their lack of ressources and logistics. They also managed to crush all rebellions despite foreign support. Serbians had experienced russian generals/officers supporting/leading their rebellions.
I don’t read books cause I’m not lame
btw ludi you know you can click the "revenue" button when either trading or building to sort all of the trades, and it will show the trades that make the most money at the top, and the least at the bottom, i always see you trying to find which ones are most profitable, and like this its much easier
yes sir, I am aware, I just like to be inefficient and do extra click xD
Thanks I was wondering how to do that!
Ludi could we get a Victoria 3 review now that you've played a few games so we can hear what you think the game needs to improve upon and what it did well on, thanks.
I can review for him, based on what he said on streams:
Game's good
War system is dogshit
There you go
@@swadianknight9394 this is accurate
@@swadianknight9394 seems about right
Ottomans being essentially the doge meme between EU4 and Vic3 is why I really want "rise and fall" systems implemented into these games
I think it would be really neat to have the ottomans decline over the course of EU4, currently all that happens is their Anatolian Tech Units become less OP as mil tech increases
Ludi, you don’t have to “enforce” white peace war goals on powers that join after your primary target capitulates. Go to the war screen and you can usually white peace them immediately after the primary target is capitulated, no more bloodshed necessary.
Ludi could you pls show us how it is playing like an absolute power? Like An absolute Monarchy or a Dictatorship. I think it would be interesting to see something different
Totally agree, I think you could totally make a strong absolute monarchy as the ottomans
They didnt add it. You can do only what your government supports.
great video buddy can't wait for part 2
"You reap what you saw" and we will reap the tanzimats and the economy of the greatness we seeded all the way down from the start!

How bro i havent seem to figure it out lll
@@hehelol3503 You just go to the war screen and offer peace without selecting anything. Usually they would accept if it's 0 or lower, but sometimes they won't when they have a lot of gold reserve.

Ottomans outliving them by 5 years: 🙃
Literacy is incredibly unhistorical in this game. Probably only less than 5< percent was know how to read in 1800's. When Turkish Republic established, it was only 10 percent literacy rate. It goes up steadily after education and alphabet reforms.
Ne alaka benim büyük dedem bile askerde öğrendi yazmayı ve okumayı. O yüzde 5 altında diyenler osmanlıyı horlamak ve harf inkilabını meşrulaştırmak için söylüyor.
In this game 75% of your population doesn't actually do jobs. So effective workforce literacy of 5%, since 25% of 20% > 5%.

Ludi: "Historically it (The Ottoman empire) continued to regress until when it collapsed completely after the first world war."
Erdoğan: "Hold my Non-alcoholic Beer"
Here's a fun fact:
The word "polis" was often used in ancient greece for the major city-states like Athens, Sparta and abviously; Constantinople. As if it meant e.g. "The great city of Athens"
They called it the sick man of europe because it was bond to die, and it would cause a HUGE mess when that happened. Which by the way is what we're suffering still today: Syria, Iraq...
Istanbul means 'to the city ' in Medieval Greak. Like you mentioned it was the main city around the area. People who speak ''Rum'' would say Istanbul when they were about to go to city.
"Is tin poli" is what the Greeks say Istanbul derived from and means what you said but if you ask a Turk it comes from "Islam bol" which means something like "where many muslims live"
@@PascalSWE Probably both.
@@udkudk yeah that seems likely to me aswell.
As a Turkish I can say that putting turkeys as Turkish fans was offensive but your voice with them made me laugh so hard hahaha… Loves from ISTANBUL ;D
Yoo i always wanted to visit Istanbul
its not offensive, its a joke
19:40 this reminded me how history repeats itself that Turkey started building it's own arms and weapon industry when US and other great powers embargoed Turkey around Cyprus operation. Few decades later now Turkey 😅 produces significant industry by itself.
I love how youtube is suggesting this video to me in the post video suggestions. lol
Clearly the algorythm is broken
@@LudietHistoria Maybe you're just too unique and the only content like you is you. ;)
There is a story from a turk about İstanbul name: After mehmed the Conquerer managed to take constantinapolis he decided to change name of City to "İslambol" means "İslam is plenty" or "İslambul" means "find İslam" then it evolved to İstanbul but because of people used to use konstantiniye (it might about arabic language influence)it stayed like that all that islam related names came from words of muhammed the Prophet:Verily, you shall conquer Constantinople. What a wonderful army will that army be, and what a wonderful commander will that conqueror be.”
(But it must be a bullshit cuz mehmet 2 was most renovative ruler at otto history.)
23:31 I mean it does kind of make sense more than like EU4's system because yk generally wars were more fluid on who was the main participant. Should really be different though in terms of changing war goals and then some nations should drop out once the original target had, like Austria should've really been able to switch it to taking Bosnia from you rather than trying to release tripolotania.
Looking forward to how they tweak the war system for sure, its a tad bit scuffed rn.
I am actually impressed how much you do know about Late Turkish Imperial History, as a person who lives in Turkey I confirm most of the facts told by you
"I know you're going to come after me, 'it's called Istanbul not Constantinople' no it's not, read a history book"
3 minutes earlier: "we need to invade the Mamluks"
1:37 It whas acually the battle of lepanto that sent the ottoman empire down hill becus it crippeld ottoman control of the meditaranian see, they still where a majore player in the meditaranian but they would never again hold navy supremacy in the meditaranian,
adding insult to injury whas the when the European powers figured out to sail around africa, in doing that they completely bypassed ottoman taxes and traiffs on trade it whas an huge blow to the ottoman economy
The sige of wienna whas still a huge defeat not only in lost troops and resuces but also damage to prestige and reputaion.
It's worth noting that in the more modern eras, that just defeating the target country doesn't always win you a war anymore. For instance WW1 started over Serbia and they took it eventually... and the war just kept going for a few more years.
Still, it probably would be good if the allies were more willing to peace out if continuing the war looked hopeless.
thing is, the remaining allies can do nothing to make you give up what you conquered when peacing out minors - unlike what happened in the historical wars
Definitely do a part 2 with this campaign
bROOooo I'd love a second part to this little series frfr
Not gonna lie my weary heart feels a bit better after watching this video
5k likes almost done, cannot wait for second part! So much love from İstanbul.
Ludi is not only EU4 Chad but also vic 3 Chad!!!
Victoria 3 seems to be a good game, intriguing to me. I'd like to see you play Wallachia some time in the future :)
It's our country after all. Or moldova if you were born north of the McDonalds in Buzău.
All those grumpy people will calm down when their awash in luxury goods and free school and Heath care
Istanbul is also called "Payitaht" most of the time, which means The Capital. Great video as always.
Yo Ludi, the 2nd Siege of Vienna wasn't the cause of decline but a symptom and the Ottoman started declining in the mid 1500s due to major internal political shifts however if you want 2 battles that really kickstarted this into full gear then the battle of Lepanto and the great siege of malta (1565 and 1570something) were two big kicks to the balls for the Turks that showed the cracks really forming ^^
You should've just asked to become a protectorate of Great Britain, that way you have someone to protect you and access to the British market for almost no cost (except being forced to join their offensive wars)
Love your energy my guy! Glad I found your channel
A few tips for people who actually need a tutorial:
1) You need to suppress the landowner class HARD if you want to actually ban slavery and do bureaucratic reforms properly without cheese.
2) Rush arms industry and line infantry before invading Egypt, and it would be much easier.
3) Dueling is actually great in that if you have high ranking generals from the landowner class, you can get rid of them this way and try getting generals from other desirable classes.
Slightly Healed Dude
1:55 Be honest, it fell apart into turkey, and barely and heads of government changed.
callin Adana holy city.. ludi you are the man my man. greetings from the homeland of Adana Kebap and the holy city Adana
no, actually the turkish residents there were calling the city istanbul. So, even though the city was known constantiniyye outside of the city, amongst the Local turkish people in the city, the word istanbul were becoming more and more common, and eventually it overtook the constantinniyye
Ludi sees Dedicated police force Ludi takes it
3:33 They will always be the mameluks ❤️
Great video! Great vic 3 contents!
Playing Ottomans before Byzantium? Ludi why :(
Ludi yes

4:45 No. You called it Constantinapolis. Every Turkish documents stated the city as "Istanbul"
Ottochild empire
I just give my exam about Tanzimat at the Istanbul Universty lol :D
least smart turk:
Railways don't help you with mining output - they decrease laborers used by mines.
10:20 You can just call it "Mongol Kireging" which existed before "Blitz Kireging." :D
Enjoyed the video! I think you could white peace the other participants of the war at the war UI and they'll most probably accept considering that they are already in the negatives. So you don't have to wait until they fully capitulate.
Constantinople officially changed it's name to Istanbul in 1930. It's only about 92 years ago.
PRDX said that in the next major update to Victoria 3, they will fix the war system. Let's hope for the best
They will try to make naval invasions less exploitable
I just became Britain's protectorate which gave me access to British market as well as managed to get them to help me with Egypt. There is almost no cost to this and later when I got stronger I attacked them and got free. I also didn't ban slavery, they can be used in construction sector as government slaves
I find it that you can basically 90% of a time vasalize Persia at the start of the game. If Russia wont back them, then even while fighting them, you can defend from potential naval invasions from other powers.
But still i was around 5 diplomatic actions points in a play from reconquering every state and finishing last tanzimat :C
0:25 Montenegro was never successfully conquered by the Ottomans
19:41 Turks creating a weapons industry because of the US sanctions. Very realistic game
Bro really said "mamluks" when he spoke about Egypt.
I you had been Sultan of the Ottoman Empire in 1800, the balkans and anatolia would be the new silicon valley.
Good job Ludi, as always.
Btw, is there any risk of getting your pops addicted to opium if you build a lot of opium plantations?
Fun fact, the city is called Istanbul in the Turkish version of the game
The discord sound brought my ptsd back out
Ah yes glass workshops
The fact of the ruler of Egypt is not Egyptian but Albanian
It is a rebellion of Ottoman pasha Mehmet Ali.
Ludi would make worst Sultan ever. Taxing people just for having tables and chairs 😭
the reasonably okay man of Europe
Ottoman in EU4 = Easy Mode
Ottoman in VIC3 = HELL
It's more that you don't understand the combat system.
But it's also broken yes
this game is so nice, i just want them to fix up the military/war system and then it will be perfect, its also really easy to play compared to any other paradox game.
Do you by any chance maybe know some sort of leak about a military update ludiii 👀
You know how when all your neighbors beat the shit out of you and rip off your limbs? That is what is known as “being sick”
The good thing about fighting those wars in Arabia before dealing with Egypt is that your generals will gain more/better traits to aid you in the true war
Yes, dude, go for a world conquest as the Ottomans!
In victoria 2 russia was the bane of ottomans. In victoria 3 they seem to mind their won business.
19.35 basicly after cyprus 1974 and modern turkish defence industry lore right there
I do like the fact you called them the mamluks
I really like the videos, trying to duplicate though and there are just so many jumps and missed things that need to be done to do something that i just couldn't do so. Feel like a lot of the technical stuff was left out. would like to see a real play through without the cuts one day.
Then i recommend you watch my streams sir
I get to catch some here and there. I was able to replicate the ottoman one. Just needed to learn some basics as it was only my 3rd game. It worked very well. Wish I had more time to catch live streams. Been using g alot of your guides to do my achivment runs on EU4 forever.
We wanna see the sequel, frick the likes Ludi, keep it up :)
I believe that the architecture displayed by cities is tied to province culture? That should be why Constantinople appears more Middle-Eastern
About the architecture at 5:00 there is a mod that changes it already
Very often when you peace out the main target. If you go to the war screen you can immediately white peace the allies!
When i tried this out i memed everyone by becoming a protectorate of England which just fixed my economy. By the end i was the turkish ussr owning all the middle east as cores or puppets. In the british market
When I play the ottomans in Victoria 3: can't get dedicated police force at 94% and get attacked by the Russians in 1838
How did your navy not get intercepted on egypt? And even 13 troops in Shammari makes invasion impossible. As of current game state, you lose territory if you lose a battle, so there's no point in doing any warfare unless you have overwhelming force. I don't think any of this works as of now.
The Dynasty of Egypt was a Turkish Dynasty in the time.
Unironically speaking, it's actually an Albanian dynasty lmao
I mean yeah it doesn't make sense that the war continues after the original participants are already out of it, but it is also historically accurate. Both serbia and Austria were out of the ww1 and germany and the rest were still fighting. Not only that serbia was already defeated very early into the war. The original primary participants were Austria, serbia and their allies russia and germany. Yet the war ended with germany conciding to England, france and the united states.
Actually as a Turk I think name of Konstantiniyye is way cooler than (cringe) republicans' way of naming the capital which is İstanbul. Constantinople is better in many ways and considering the fact that Ottomans was heir to the Rome being the third Rome.
agreed Konstantinyye was better too, but its now Istanbul there is nothing we can do. Also not really a important thing
Do more of ottomans in vicky 3 pls 🙏
I love it.
The ottomans are extremely fun in Victoria 3 and EU4
Ludi, get the mod "Mediterranean architecture", it fixes Constantinople.
