- Today I created a new Victoria 2 Challenge. The goal is to grow your cash reserves to the largest amount possible!
Rules
1. Victoria 2 must be played in the HPM mod.
2. No cheats or console commands of any kind.
3. Any nation is fair game. No tag switching.

Fun fact, how to defeat british industrial score quickly as france or germany or america, U could just spam build rail or factories in open for intervention countries... I mean, thats very help. By 1860 u will have 450± scores for german. Btw i use the strat to form super germany by 1850 or less.

well, since ur indsutrial score is the amount of employed craftsmen and clerks divided by some number (i forgor) the best way to get industrial score is to build atleast 1 factory in every state (for pops to promote to craftsmen in a state that state needs to have a factory in it, intrestingly iirc works even when the factory isnt built yet) and then rush to get as much pop growth as possible. For ur craftsmen to then not demote you'd also need to subsdidize the factories and minimum wage or lowering taxes on the lower class isnt a bad idea either (although the latter could considered more controversial since not only would it encourage demotions from the higher classes it would also encourage demotions from craftsmen into other types if a factory is unprofitable or the workers dont get paid enough, with 0% tax this generally shouldnt be an issue, but tariffs could definitely bring the price of good too high in the early game). Craftsmen pops also require a certain lvl of literacy, but this is a non issue for france, prussia and the USA. Since factories cost a decent bit of money, especially in the early game, it is usually a good idea to whenever possible tightly manage ur factory placement to maximise their profitability through maximizing their total output. This all is a way to explain why you dont want china civilizing in a game too early, especially multiplayer, since a unified china not only has enough pops to create insane demand for consumer goods, making every one happy, they are also likely to reach great power and thus be pretty high on the purchase rights list and they one of a few countries that have enough population to create an un extinguishable demand for industrial goods like iron, which cannot be met in any way without going beyond 1936. (There are a few other reasons like migration that you would not want china to westernize early on, another siginificant one for MP is how them building up to their forcelimit will almost certainly make the world run out of all military goods, not helped by the fact that a player controlled china will almost certainly reach GP nr 1)
Basically, once china westernized, then there's nothing we can do about the world economy being destroyed. It is about time.

3. All their factories go bankrupt.
4. Profit.
Why would you need to have any not to mention the best and tank UKs industrial score to form super Germany? You first year take the French Land. Attack Austria sit on their land for several years since no counter sphere the germans as Austria loses GP status so just reach enough influence to remove/add to sphere and wait till Austria drops then add war demand again Austria to sphere.
In some ways subsidies dont actually cost you that much as you get tariff money on the goods you buy to subsidise them. Assumeing you dont allready have the goods in your sphere market which if you do it actually costs alot.
But since your america you likley have the goods so you dont tarrif them

Unfortunately you can't really reverse mass migration because Vic2 has a system that makes i think 3 best countries in Americas attract nearly all migrations
Even with the best modifiers you can acquire in the game, you can’t really bring immigrants to Europe.
Your best bet for a game like that is to play the mod CWE which takes place during the Cold War.

I love that some people still make vicky 2 content, as most paradox youtubers have turned to vic 3. Vic 3 is pretty bad ngl, compared to vic 2
Edit: I watched the video and I see a common mistake a lot of people make - doing the industry all by themselves. Capitalists aren't Ideal, but if what they build is actually profitable, don't destroy it. Also low taxes for all pops and low tariffs might hurt you early but you will benefit a lot from this. Basically your pops and factories won't have to pay double the price to import stuff making them more satisfied and less rebellious as well as better performing factories. Taxing the poor will lead to what happened to you - mass rebellions + they won't promote. That's why I like lassiez faire, if only the best make it, then your economy is guaranteed to run smoothly

Strategy Game Titanium, I think the 100% tariff rate was your downfall here. I could be wrong but iirc keeping tariffs around or below 20ish percent will prevent a lot of factories from becoming unprofitable. I'm guessing your wood issue came from the high tariffs, America does not have a lot of wood naturally I don't think. Definitely for next time try and keep the tariffs way lower and hopefully factories will stay open longer and not be money pits. I am also not insanely good at the eco game in vicky 2 but that is kind of just real world economics. Love the videos, def my favorite Vicky 2 youtuber.
Yeah, I think this is the problem he ran into. Tarriffs are the most dangerous part of any tax plan and often the first thing I get rid of once techs and pop taxes increase.
Another thing I think is that the early game, maybe as much as the first half, should be focused on rapid expansion and aggression in the Americas so that the tax and rgo base can be maximized.
Additionally, I'm torn between suggesting a Midgame LF (when it's strongest) and a pure State-cap, or planned economy. I think State Cap is the best option because it doesn't kill your Capitalists, who can improve your factory efficiency and become a sizeable source of taxes. But, state Cap would require having a solid plan of construction to ensure a good economy and productive capacity.

You can definitely make a lot more money as the UK, both because of having more pops and better tech, but very importantly because you aren’t crippled by Laissez faire economic policy forced on you by being a republic, you can just permanently stay on state capitalism and max out tax and tariffs
you can also easily take one of the biggest money printers in the game, called kumning (the funny chinese province)

If you're not playing with GFM, couldn't you just take the state of yunnan from china and rack in a fuckton of money from that 1 million RGO gold mine? I've seen that be done by others to make ridiculous amounts of money in vanilla.
You could possibly do that. I don’t know if it would make up for the wars China would declare to get it back though.
You do need to be an industrial nation I think- craftsment are more productive than farmers last I checked.

Not at all a vic2 expert, but I’d assume the issue you had is the money you take from your pops is money not circulating in the economy. Pops have no money, means that they can’t afford goods, means that factories aren’t profitable, causes more unemployment, leads to endless revolts and rebellions.
This (or a similar reason) is why gfm has debuffs for hoarding- at the game start money is distributed between pops and governments but by the end of the game, usually the player and ai countries have all the money while pops are falling into poverty which causes the game to start falling apart
Yeah this makes sense, but in terms of the challenge I’m not sure that I could do better if I gave more money to the people
There are multiple reasons that could be why the factories were unprofitable:
1) ur tariff rate
2) ur sphere
3) u not having a massive army that takes a lot of goods
4) u not having a massive navy that takes a lot of goods
5) ur pops not having enough money to buy goods
5.1) because there wasnt enough money in the country
5.1.2) because there wasnt enough money in the world, hoarding money is a good way to completely fuck over the ai and the economy as a whole, this is the reason money hoarder is a thing in GFM

You should lower the tariffs to 25% minimum, that way your factorys will get more goods and won't bankrupt. You will also make more money
Perhaps. If I ever do it again I will consider these strategies, but this first attempt was just a full commitment to taxes and tarrifs
It Wouldn't work because there's a finite amount of money and even if you dont try to get as much money as possible and you just had an AI only the world economy reaches a crisis in the game where it stagnates because there's not enough money because all the money is in the National Bank and government accounts and there isnt enough currency for trade
So if you want to try to get as much money as possible you would Accelerate this natural issue to such an extent that the world economy actually reduces year by year so the factories are going out business because demand is reducing because there is enough money so reducing tariff does not help in the sense that you wouldn't be able to get more money and you have less money.
the best thing you can do honestly just to take more land ignore infamy just do world Conquest while trying to get as much money as possible primarily focusing on taking over your europe basically focusing on taking areas with money so you can get more money in your bank account with the knowledge that the economy of the world is literally collapsing

Did a convert recently but had to clean up a lot make sure you do as much as u can in vic before going to hoi4 to minimise doing so much

I think the highest money number I reached was over 2 billion pounds (the max limit a 32 bit program can handle).

The reason your factories and economy is failing is because the state sucked all of the wealth out of the economy. No one could import or export anything and produce or build anything bc of such high levels of wealth expropriation production was so low and poverty so high

17:10 the reason your factories aren't profitable is because there isn't enough money in circulation to actually keep the world economy running properly naturally in late game without you trying to accumulate as much money as possible the world economy goes into crisis because there's too much money in the national banks and Ian government account which causes GDP to stagnate and eventually will cause it to decline but you don't really know is that because the game ends as the declining starts if you keep the game going by 1950 the world economy would have collapsed because there's just not enough currency in circulation and probably also because there's not enough resources as well
You should have minimum wage because that reduces the amount of money in the National Bank and increases demand so you would have had more money to tax and tariff
Every like money in your account reduces economic growth and profitability of not just your factories but of the world factories basically the global economy and it actually ideal for you to be in debt so that you're spending all the money in your National Bank maximising economic growth because more currency in circulation means more growth and this is because you can only use each pound once a day as a result there is a theoretical limit on the amount of money you can get into your government account and closer you get to it the less revenue
And factory profitability you have also because having so much money in your bank account reduces economic growth which is exactly what you were seeing with all your factories going out of business the global economy as literally going down because there wasn't enough money and pops did not have enough money to buy stuff so demand went down resulting in factories going out of business there is a finite amount of money in the world and that amount only grows with precious metals all the people saying that your tariffs were driving factories out of business were wrong but
you could have gotten more money by trying to take over the world focusing on Europe taking over the richer countries basically so you can tax a larger share of the world economy no point trying to save your economy with subsidies because you won't get more money because they are going out of business because demand is reducing which makes factories go out of business and not pay wages which reduces the demand more and you can only increase demand by spending all money that you have in your government and national bank so no point in trying to stop the economic free fall if you just trying to get as much money as possible
you can have some weird things happen to the world like constant bankruptcies in like all small countries and even big countries and also militancy it actually best to play as America to do this because countries constantly in Revolution/bankruptcy means more immigration but if you were playing as Germany and trying to do this you don't benefit at all from the immigration
it also the reason why it's also the reason why you should never spare China or have them westernised because they have so many pops and there's just not enough currency in the world for an additional 50 million population

I think the country that would give you the most money would be by far qing, because their economy is so over inflated and differently from vic3 theres no admin penalties pretty much.
Shame qing is one of the most boring playthroughs since the game DOES NOT want you to westernize at all costs.
