Removed ALL Sound Deadening for MAX Weight Reduction!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- Watch me try 3 different methods to remove sound deadening material. I compare dry ice, CO2, and a heat gun... which do you think is the best? Not going to lie, I was surprised at how much all the sound deadening weighed.

Taking a decent dump before going on a drive might have been more efficient.
LOL this is the best comment ever.
It’s amazing how much your channel has grown it has inspired me to start my own UA-cam channel any support would help a lot but it really makes me happy how much your channel has grown
TIMO80SS subbed
That's awesome man! I love seeing more UA-camrs, would love to see what you do.
Subbed
Jake and BudgetBimmer inspired me to buy a N54. Well done guys !! I got my 135i since 1 year now ✌😎
I love your channel even though I am your editor
Make sure you have good ventilation, dry ice is Co2 which can displace enough oxygen to kill you and is also cold enough to cause instant frostbite. This is a great method, just be careful. I removed the sound deadening stuff on an e36 and it was more than 9 pounds. Probably double that, years of innovation must have figured out a better material than the tar stuff in 90's cars.
Duster spray is just Co2 when you turn it upside down it sprays the liquid, right side up it sprays the gas and more liquid evaporates to keep it spraying. Same concept as liquid propane in a grill tank. As a sidenote, the change of state from liquid to gas is what causes the temperature to drop, exactly how air conditioning works.
Removing weight here and there adds up so why not
My thoughts exactly!
WHO ELSE DROPPED EVERYTHING TO WATCH THIS?
You the real MVP 🙏
I regret I wasted my time to this degree
135i content is the best 👌🏽
Agreed, but the M3 build is about to go offffff!
Hey I'm not sure if anyone has told you this yet, but when I installed my fuel pump I accidentally spilled some e85 onto that stuff and it started dissolving...you could use a bit of that to get rid of any glue or residue that you couldn't get off?
This is great that means I can add twice as much sound deadening as stock and it's only 10 LBS more.
I love that 135i
Haha, thanks man, me too.
The best 135i channel out there !
Can you show how to replace that plastic cover in the back part of your 335i. I have the same car and hope you can show me:) love your content.
Is that the one in the trunk by the battery? What's wrong with yours?
Jake Spence I’m sorry for the bad description. In the engine bay by the windshield that cover the the fuse box and everything on your 135i you did a delete to that plastic to put 2 vents instead of the long plastic piece because you have to take it off to take off the cover. That’s what I meant I’m sorry.
Yea I think I
ll hang onto my sound deadening. Actually just added more for speakers and subs lol
By itself. It's very insignificant. But when you take off a lot of little 9 lb things they add up and are very significant. But I'm talking going all out race car. In a street car I would get to the meat and potatoes only. Like lightweight seats. Back seats removed. Light weight wheels and carbon fiber hood.... done.
Carbon fiber fenders, hood, trunk, roof, do it all!!
Dry ice?! I thought I was OCD when used a heat gun to soften the glue. It was worth it though, these are tar tiles that are much heavier than they look
Did you notice more road noise after this ?
I hope you takes us for a drift sometime.
I'll see what I can do!
Proud fiancé ♥️♥️♥️
I love you!
Jake Spence love you :)
Next: air conditioning & audios. Oh can you make a rear mounted cooling system? Never see anyone did this setup.
why do people do this fr? they really gotta rattle tf out of their bmw, i get it hes building a track car but why keep the dash in? might aswell take that out too. or do sleeved block and run more boost for more power, weight reduction not always good
When's the 5 gallon fuel cell coming? I bet you'd get another 10/15 pound weight reduction.Maybe rear airbags too since nobody is sitting back there? I wanna see this thing on a scale under 3000lbs
*Noise level difference???*
Multi tool with a scraper attachment.
That'll work too! I used a scraper at the end with a heat gun.
😂you’re crazy man just buy some carbon fiber doors but 9 pounds adds up to the list so not bad
Pull out the subwoffers.. guess it would save you more that ;)
bit excessive for 9 lbs. Oh well
Agreed, didn't know what to expect going into it tho!
Jake Spence could save more lbs by buying a set of 17” wheels and relive spacers
I figured that wudnt do much
he probably saved 10lbs of weight and added 100db of noise and rattles by doing this smh
Yeet
💪
First!
