I think I'm the only one in the comment section who likes sunroofs! To me, it just looks nice and is nice to drive with it open. Of course if you're building a race/track car you don't need one, but for my daily E82 I actually like the sunroof.
They have saved weight since an e36. I know my sunroof assembly weighs more than 32 lbs and it isn't even glass, just a metal panel. Thanks for the video. I need to delete my sunroof, it leaks in the rain ;)
Jake, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching the progress on your car! Thank you so much for sharing, and I also forgot to ask a while back, but it’s been a while and I should probably refer back to your headlight installation video, but is there somewhere I can buy the completed headlight unit? Or are those typically made custom? Thanks in advance! And keep up the great work!
nice!!!!! that looks cool and that was actually pretty good info you just gave me my sunroof cover derail and the fabric fall of my car so i have to take it out to fix it so thanks for the diy 😂👍🏾
I'm excited to get my wheel from NRW that I ordered from their black Friday sale. Apparently they have a massive backlog of work from the sale. They look like great quality products though.
@EZ SLIDE yeah its been a hot minute. I guess they got a bunch of orders from the sale. The steering wheels are beautiful. Last I asked about it they said its nearing the end of their 23 step process.
Just found this video. Picked up a 135i that I’m slowly turning into a track car. Sunroof is a project for this winter. Did you have to code out any warning lights after removing the sunroof? What about the wiring that went to the map lights?
Where are you located in Wisconsin? I live way up north, Im gonna guess you down by Wisconsin dells? Also, That new roof really take a lot of weight off! Good video bro!!
Jake when removing the main dome light with sunroof switch the airbag light stays on for passenger side how did you remove the light or did you just leave it on // good diy its what got me to do mine on my 135, thank you!
It initially leaked a few drops during heavy rain, but NRW assured me this was fixed in newer batches. I got a beta test product. I sealed it up with a little sealant and reseated it and it's been good.
Love the build man! I’ve been watching your videos for awhile and I just pulled the trigger on a 135 a few months ago. I do have a question though. How does it seal? I unfortunately do not have a garage and the vehicle will get rained on.
After watching a lot of your vids it made me want a 135i. Picked up one Saturday and now I’m looking to buy a few things for it. What rear diffuser do you have? I looked through your vids hoping to find a link but no luck.
Hey Jake, Nice work. Car is looking killer. Just wondering if you used any sealant or just straight bolted the panel up? Any issues with water leaks? I'm planning on doing this to my 335 track car.
Thanks! I didn't use any sealant at first and got a few drops during heavy rain. I removed and reseated it with some sealant and everything has been good since!
Great video buddy. Hey can you recommend a good Halo Headlights replacement to my 128i? it has OEM halogen Headlights so.. One that could be just put & play.
Thanks! Do you have OEM angel eye rings already? Or no rings at all? I can't remember if the halogen headlights come with halogen angel eye bulbs as well.
@@jake_spence Thanks for your quick response and taking time to response. Well no Halo at all Lol mines are OEm Halogen. So I'm trying to give a little upgrade to my 128i .
Amazing work, I was afraid you were gonna put too much stuff back, but you didn't! Now make a vid of how noisy it is. |Just curious. Still worth it even if it is noisy
Thanks! Check out my recent POV driving video I uploaded a few weeks ago. It shows how loud everything is and gives a great experience of what it's like to drive this car.
@@matt2m are you saying that a 135is comes with a N54 & you want to swap a N55 into it? or vice versa (RE: the engines)? because I think we are N54 bois around here, at least with the current aftermarket support. I personally am going to make the jump to a B58 car and just avoid the N55 all together tbh.
@@von... naw he wants to put that s54 V8 from the e92 m3 in there. That's the only thing I can think of. Because the 135is and the 335is both have the N54T motor that is the better tuned n54 which obviously the 535i the 135i and the 335i have

Nice build my guy, have you ever considered fabricating the rear guards a bit wider? Everytime I watch your videos it hurts me inside to see the rear guards so skinny even a proper 1M's rear guards are too narrow in my opinion. If anyone's going to do a good job it's you. I know your performance focused but it's like an itch I can't scratch. I would choose a blend of the design languages used from 3.0 csl" bat mobile" E30 M3, E46 GT-R and z4 Gt3. Otherwise It's like seeing a pretty girl with a flat ass. 🤙
Thanks! I've thought about it for sure. If anything, I will probably go with a 1M style widebody at some point. I love the clean look of those 1Ms. But I like your aggressive idea too.
Great vid, love the car and your channel. I would "like" this video, but its currently at 135 likes, and I don't want to be the one to change that right now. Keep up the good work! Check out my channel if you like some JDM content. Currently have some autocross vids with my Lexus SC400. If you haven't autocrossed your 135i yet I highly recommend it! Stay safe broski
I probably won't ever do this, but it's really cool to see how easy it is to do if I ever decided too.

Get 'er done!
Can you check if the moonroof assembly is attached to just the roof or the body rails? Wonder if doing this will affect the structural rigidity?
This car looks better and better bro. Awesome job!

How did you remove the rear seat belt tensioner without getting an airbag light?

Does the sunroof model weigh more than if it was without
Were not the 1M equipped with full carbon roofs? I cannot remember.
I don't think so, but they didn't have a sunroof.
What else is on the list to bring the weight down?

This dude actually did a holy shit handle delete
I take it its not going to keep water out?
Nice mod !!
Thank you!
What is the total weight reduction so far?
I think around 300lbs. I'm going to weigh it again soon after all of these mods.
So now you got run the 1/4 mile and see if you got 0.3 seconds faster.
Holy 300 lbs? What is the stock weight of the 135i?
Have you ever flipped an e36
Why is the video so jumpy ? Looks laggy. I tested 3 other videos and they were fine
I got a new camera and filmed the intro and outro in 24FPS instead of 30FPS. I figured it out afterwards, so shouldn’t have this issue moving forward.
What about water
Gotta feel good to drop that weight
Oh it does!
Sit back relax and give like👍
You already know what's up!
Also dude, eat breakfast first thing man. Most important meal of the day :p
True, I should probably do that, lol.
How much weight has the car lost ?
300lbs according to another comment he replied to.
sexiest 1 series out there. keep going! love from Maine
