I started with a 4 day fast. It made 3 day fasts so much easier. I set a base goal of 48hrs but consistently make the 72 mark. I don't have a support system but I am dedicated to being a healthier being.

I'm wondering what you do for the other three weeks. I just finished my 8th of 8 consecutive weeks of the 72-hour fasts & I'm just having a hard time deciding what to do. I lost about 45 lb originally with OMAD. I think at one point Dr Boz suggests omad after the eight consecutive weeks, but not exactly sure. I'm open to suggestions

      @@BettyATtheOFFICE I would just eat 2 to 3 meals a day.
Honestly, I don't fast any longer. I almost never go more than 12-13 hours without eating. I always eat 3 meals a day. I prioritize protein. I'm a 6'2" male and I do my best to make sure I get 180g a day. I fill in my other calories with whatever fat comes with the meat/eggs/dairy and carbs are mostly starch and fruit with the occasional "treat".
I do resistance training 3-4x's a week and walk 10K+ steps a day.
I stopped fasting because it no longer benefited me in the weight loss department and was hurting my ability to recover.
If you are looking to lose weight, fasting is a great tool. I don't believe it has to be a lifestyle to be/stay healthy. Prioritize protein, avoid seed oils like the plague, resistance train and you'll be better off than everyone you know.
      Have a great day! :)

I've actually been doing one meal every other day for the past 2 weeks, and I'm loving it. I started at 312 lbs, and as of today I'm 295. I'm also a 45 yr old female. I'm still eating whatever I want but the fast is helping me to not have nights sweats or heart palpitations meaning it's helping my hormones balance out. My next goal is to stop eating the processed carbs and sugars and start eating clean. Goodbye kettle chips and hello ribeyes 😊

Some unsolicited advice. What Ive noticed with my fasting is that if I start cutting too much of my favorite foods, it becomes less fun and motivating and more frustrating. I don't want to live a life where I cant enjoy pizza and wings. Obviously cutting sugar and bad carbs down is good (i.e. garbage sodas ), but dont go too hard on yourself and try to completely eliminate the comfort foods you enjoy. There will come a day when those Kettle Chips and Cookies are too hard to resist..so enjoy them, just don't go crazy. That ribeye that starts off being so delicious starts to get boring after a few weeks. Then the roller coaster of guilt and overindulgence creeps back in when you break down and give in to temptation. Doing fasts over 24 hours is great discipline in itself, even if you eat like crap on your feast days. Continue stacking the successful fasts, and enjoy your favorite foods in moderation.
      God bless.

I did a 72 hour fast with no experience and threw my hormones sooo out of whack that I vomited on the onset of my following two periods. It was weird and a little disturbing. I have done better research since then and now have a better understanding about how to think about hormones and fasting. It is a delicate dance.

Thank you for this information. I've been fasting much longer than I've been ketoing. But now that i'm about 2 months into keto I think it's time to start doing the longer fasts weekly. I've just generally gone more towards omad due to my work schedule. I've done some 36-48 hour fasts in the past and am really looking forward to incorporating them again.

I have done 4 and 5 day fasts but my routine is OMAD Mon, fast tues & wed, omad Thurs (ending a 66-76 hr fast), then 2 meals a day fri/sat/sun... rinse and repeat. Works great 1-3 lbs a week, tho had to recently cut out cheese it was becoming too addictive and although a great keto food, I consistently over ate it so it needed to go - for now at least.

This is my first 3 day fast. 67 hrs into my fast and I’m not feeling so well. My goal is 72 hrs and by then I should be fat adapted. I learned the hard way that Keto isn’t for me...food intolerances and gut imbalances, had to see a natural path who said stop keto, it was doing me harm! I only want to lose about 20 lbs, but carry a lot of fat, age 56. What to do??

Hi! I too had to stop at 67 hours of a 72 hour fast. I was feeling fine at 36 hours, but didn't sleep on the third night AT ALL. So I broke the fast with bone broth and a light meal. Now, a few days later, I am going to do a 36 hour fast. And do that for a few more weeks. It takes practice, I guess.
As far as I understand u should be fat adapted in order to do fasts. Blessings

My blood glucose level was 95 last night (2nd sleep) into my first 36 hour fast. I woke up in the morning and used a ketone strip-nothing. I went upstairs to check my glucose level and it’s 126. No wonder I don’t have ketones. I was so strict about not breaking my fast too. I’m having my black coffee now and thinking about pushing myself to 48 hours. I am not hungry at all so I know I can do it. I just want the benefits of fasting for reducing belly fat and health. I do have Covid currently but I’m not feeling bad. Could this be the problem?

Don't you think that augmenting with Ketones in a can will cause your body to reduce it's ketone output? It's like taking steroids and having the body reduce it's steroid output.

Feasting after fasting is just throwing away all your sacrificing for the previous 48, 72 or 96 hours 😢 best to fast and then prpbably treat yourself to something special but not over do it so to speak. Od break my fast with an omad with a nice 12 oince steak with no carbs.

    • @DoctorBoz
      @DoctorBoz  2 роки тому +2

I don’t need them … but so many of my patients have no idea about this “hack”
They are on a long journey to repair a broken metabolism … and I want to demonstrate this option. I also have seen way too many examples of exogenous ketones that DO NOT raise your blood ketones … so I demonstrate that part LIVE also. If ketones done rise 15-30 min after taking exogenous ketones, you’re getting scammed.
