I don’t like that she said “you are going to fail if you are inflamed and over weight and insulin resistance”. I am what she described to be inflamed and insulin resistance due to my struggle with PCOS. And I DID NOT fail on my first try at a 72 hour fast and I did so lead by God.
How long was your fast?
@@JadenJackson-x1cthey just said 72 hours.
RIGHT? I had to rewind to listen again.. Excuse me.. I’m all of those things and just got done with 7 days of water fasting and am starting rolling 72’s. Good day, “Dr.”
right!! Same here!!! that was a disgusting and very belittling statement.
I think she means from inflammatory level and other internal effects on your body. The strain may be much to accomplish full health benefits.
In saying that I did a 7 day liquid fast, lost 3.5kgs and glucose went down to normal during fast . Rose slightly thereafter. My ankles alternate with pain which I can’t get back to normal so I’d say my inflammation level still isn’t good or able to fight against my body pains.
I fast whenever I get into a big jam. I fast for spiritual reasons. I fast to feel better. I fast when I am too stressed. I fast to reduce belly fat or to control my eating. I fast because it is FREE!
Wisdom
Amen
All wonderful reasons
Amen
Fasting is Free, It has great health benefit , It Saves Money andTime
I was overweight and I did a 14 day no food only water fast and lost 36lbs. I feel amazing. I would say that overweight people should fast! ❤️❤️😃
Wait, are you talking about intermittent fasting for 14 days? No food for 14 days straight? How’s that possible?
@@Tarekofskysome dude fasted for like 400 days. Your body just uses fat stores if you aren’t eating. Obviously the length you go depends on your fat levels.
@@Tarekofsky people can do up to 40 water fast. It's possible and easy after days 3
Definitely, This Lady is talking bs.
Fasting is the best way to kickstart your journey in fighting obesity and insulin resistance.
What a crock of shit, that obese people shouldn't fast.
The human body is very adaptive. Early humans did not eat 3 - 5 times a day. They would hunt, feast for a day and go days or weeks without food. Your body has great benefits in a fasted state ( your body assumes you
are dying) to ensure survival. Simple.
I did a 14 day water fast and ate low carb after that and reversed insulin resistance and cortisol levels. So I encourage people to try it for yourself
That’s awesome!👏🏼
13 hours into a 72. I never thought something so simple as fasting could offer so much, but here we are, and fasting is an important part of my life now. It wasn't until I did it, that I could mentally grasp how much our thoughts are tied to eating, or feeling bored and eating, or getting emotional and eating. I've been fasting regularly a little over a year now, and I feel like I control when I eat. I know when I am genuinely hungry. I am more aware of my thoughts and emotions and how they relate to food. I can stop eating anywhere feom 24 to 72 hours and know that I'm going to be ok. Food doesn't control me like it used to. The worst part is you don't even realize it. It's insidious. I don't want to vilify food. I love to eat, and fueling our bodies is important. If anything,.a prolonged fast makes me appreciate and savor my food all the more.
You win!! Good job. Big win!!
My goodness - both parents so quickly - My condolences - and thank you for channeling grief into helping us out here... just did my first 3 day fast and this is perfect 👌
Thank you .. tough season
Been through lots of family loss myself. You're not alone. I'm a faster and loving carb too.
Blessings!!!! The fasting will draw God closer to you.
I remember when my grandmother was very sick with fever and many body tremors and she decided to fast for 12 days. We couldn't believe the great benefit it would bring to her life, so much so that after 3 days of fasting she began to walk for 12 days and she was completely healthy. and he was 78 years old and died at the age of 115🥹
115! Unbelievable! That's amazing.
Did she do a water fast or a dry fast,
also this is the mostinspiring story
I can't emphasize enough the lack of hunger I feel or rather don't feel. Since starting this diet last January, a 36 or even 72 hour fast is no problem. Learning to differentiate between actual hunger and the psychological, habitual wants and needs can be tricky but I'm learning, Thank you Dr. Boz.
It’s a gift - isn’t it? To fast without suffering.
I’m obese. Did a 10 day fast. My depression and ruminating thoughts stopped. My thinking improved. Energy is up. Losing weight. My entire body is running better. I disagree w the fact you’re attempting to discourage obese ppl to use fasting for health benefits. You’re a great example of why more ppl distrust western MDs these days.
She is the ONLY person saying this. I ran all my inflammatory markers for auto immune before beginning a fasting regime and 15/16 markers were NORMAL in just 30 days of fasting! Proof in numbers!! It has helped people with cancer.
Look up Dr Pradip Jmanadas (spelling) he's a leader in fasting.
Hugs and condolences in loosing both parents. Your passion for the fasting topic is so wholesome. My take is your goal is to increase your reach. Your books and courses intent is vital information rather than money grabbing.
Your in a room with a computer alone yet your bursting with excitement, body language and hand gestures, your smiles are a reflection of this “bath of love” for humankind. What a testimony to your parents.
God bless you - that made me cry. Thank you!!!
I’ve been doing 120 hr fast since December and I’m down over 50lbs in roughly 3 months. Obese people should Fast! It works! You get results! Yes it’s hard but you can do it.
IKR? The whole point of fasting is to lose weight and reduce inflammation.
This lady is an idiot.
How frequently did you fast 120 hr
I am certainly not a qualified Dr like yourself and respect your content however i was a male in his mid 50s and Obese, insulin resistant with other health issues and something needed to changei .I decided to start keto ,I liked it and followed it for 4 weeks i then went to OMD keto for 2 weeks and then did my first 72 hour fast .,I like the results which differ from your content in regards to the inflammation especially. iI then decided to do the same schedule of 4 days OMD an 3 days fasting the next week, That was 4 weeks ago and may i say i am really happy with the results which i never would have achieved if i had of watched this video.I am not having a go at you but to blank people saying its not going work when everyone is different is wrong imo I definitely an in the group on your graph that you say i should not be doing what I am doing yet my reults with regards to correcting my health issues speak for themselves.I wish the fans of you channel the best and will still watch you vids as inspiration
Exactly. This woman is spreading discouragement and lies. horrible doctor in my opinion.
For me it didn't work like she warned about. I fasted for too soon too long and it elevated my cortisol, blood pressure and blood sugar because it shocked my body too much which also led to insomnia.
Please remember that we are all different. Some solutions work better than others. Dr Boz is being cautious with her advice because she doesn’t want people to fail. Consider what she says and proceed with caution.
Horrible, hot doctor lol
@@edgar8189Agreed
I really think you shouldn't be telling overweight inflamed people not to fast. It's exactly what they need to do and saved my grandmas life
I'm working with a gentleman who was told he was going to die in a couple months stage 4 cancer. I told him to fast and between that and our work together he is now having the tumors shrink. Anyone can and should fast.
You are a Doctor and that’s what you’re saying, my sister is overweight and she did a72 hours fast and she lost 13 pounds, lady please do your research properly.
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your mom and dad so close together. It is my hope that the warm memories of your time with them may provide comfort during this difficult time. I truly appreciate the guidance and teaching you have provided on the subject of fasting.
I love how those who are unhealthy (most people watching this-including me) are basically told
‘your screwed, fasting won’t fix anything for 5 weeks. Just die already and let us healthy people show off our awesome metrics’
lol. It’s kinda awful to watch.
I love hearing you describe the benefits of fasting - the science and your own descriptive words of enlightenment. Thank you !
Thanks for watching .. share the love. The channel has not been growing much lately.
Sounds like you are telling obese people, (me) not to fast? Is this what you are saying?
Pretty much Mike. I don't have to tell not to heed that advice, do I? Just take it slow, you'll get a feel for it after a while.
Hmmmm maybe someone can help me.understand this video better. Did I miss something? Rolling 72s helped me tremendously with healing my body, mental clarity, rapid weight loss. I am still over weogjt and looki g to continue my weight loss journey simce im not where I want to be but not where I started. So I am left confused with this video.
I'm so sorry for your losses. Thanks for sharing one more way to help us in a time of grieving. So hard to lose our parents. No matter your age, it's a shock to the system. I miss my dad, maybe more 3 years after he passed. He was a sweet midwesterner who grew up on an IA farm.
Amen!
So disappointed in this video. Mainly picked up if you are not young or relatively healthy, you shouldn't do a 72 h r fast, with a little laughter to go with it. How about more information for people who really are heavier and could benefit from advice about fasting, who may be chronically inflammed. You seem to chuckle at the results that those who didn't get an increase in growth hormone is somehow humorous...and as a medical professio nal.
I know, pretty bizarre, and certainly not what I was expecting.
Irrespective of her "advice", don't let it discourage you.
As I watch this I'm 60 hours in to 72 hours, it's 4am and I just got the biggest rush of my life, I wonder if this is the norepinephrine. My heart has been racing for the past hour but in a good way, I feel like I can do anything (even though it is interrupting my sleep, I don't feel I need it anymore if this carries on). It's the sort of confidence boost you get after snorting a big fat line of chang. This is my first 72 hour fast although I'm 12 hours away from the finish I know I will see it through, I feel like I can do even longer.
You win, good job.
@@DoctorBoz Same for me incredible my energy levels 48 plus in 72hr fast never experienced before though not new to IF longer fast. By the way had vein bumps on lower legs noticed few hours ago practically no longer visible. 🥳🎆
I experience the ‘rush’ heavily when exercising in the fasted state . Usually around 24-30 hr mark . It was surprisingly on par with other rushes that one may experience along the way 😊
Hahaha line of chang.. Super Hans by name n by nature.. 😂 I'm at 40ish hours now.. I know I will make after reading your comment. Charly is way too expensive here in Oz so I will wait for my free dose.. hahaha
@3beejay3 yes 2mons ago me too when on a 40 hr fast. Now ready to train 4 a 60hr fast. Hope 4 same rush.
The loss of parents is joining a club noone wants to be in. I admire the strength and purpose Dr. Boz. Escorting our elders to that final hour and the fortitude to bare up under the ineviable unavoidable beareavement.
I came looking for insight and always appreciate the quality of exsplaination.
Interesting info from the referenced studies. I'll break a 72-hour fast after work today. Having done numerous 36-72 fasts durong the past 3 years, I can confirm the surge of counter-regulatory hormones (including norepinephrine) that occurs past 24 hours. The increase in mental clarity and feeling of being physically "light and fast" are amazing. I would assume that, if the fasted subject in the study had done resistance training during the fast, that spikes in growth hormone would have been observed. Best regards Dr!
bless your heart for losing both parents so close together, sending love from Atlanta
I know it's been over a year, but sorry for the loss of your folks. Thank you for the video, but I disagree about "unhealthy" people not doing extended fasts. Yes, 5 weeks is ridiculously dangerous, but certainly a 3 day fast would be manageable for them. I would think that most people are fasting to "become" healthier, so discouraging them is counterproductive, regardless of how inefficient their bodies might be during it.
Perhaps a monthly 3 day fast would expedite their journey toward fat adaptation, along with the daily intermittent fasting regimen of course.
I am doing a monthly 72 hr fast and am both chronically inflamed plus obese, plus insulin resistant. I started in January, now in February, doing my second one. This plus ketovore plus exercise plus daily IF and one 36 hr fast weekly is producing miracles in my body. Yes, the first 72 hr was difficult. But this one was a breeze.
I'm accustomed to fasting, I might add. Have been doing it for spiritual reasons for years, before it became a thing
My prayers are with you Dr love from 🇬🇧 I’m currently on a spiritual fast but it’s you benefit of weight loss, and fantastic mental clarity currently on 72 hours I plan to go for longer
I get more and more out of watching Dr. Boz's videos two or three or more times!
God bless you!!
Hi Dr. Boz I’m so sorry about your parents. I’m a big fan I weighed 547 on 1/16/20 I started keto. On 4/20/20 I started the carnivore diet while doing OMAD. I stalled 400-410lbs from 11/2/20 until 3/1/21. So I started ADF Monday and Wednesday but I do a 72 hr fast Friday to Sunday weekly.. as of today I’m 359 and losing 3-4 lbs a week and feeling great. My sugar is better than ever (73-90). My question is, why do you say not to fast for 72 hrs if your overweight- unhealthy or insulin resistance? When clearly I was all of those things? I’m off all meds and progressing every day?
I wondered the same thing. Rolling 72s helped me tremendously with healing my body, mental clarity, rapid weight loss. So I am left confused with this video as well.
@@Shauntara86 I agree, I like Dr. Boz but definitely disagree with the video, I’m now 341 and started at 547. I do 72 hr fast weekly and I love it alone with being on the carnivore diet. I’m very pleased with my progress and getting closer and closer to my goal. I’ll be in the 200’s by the end of the year!
Have been that low since high school lol
I agree also, I'm overweight and have done rolling 72s and have felt great and had great weight loss. I have never heard anyone else say don't do 72 hr fasts if you are overweight. I love Dr. Boz but I don't agree with her on this.
@@JimmieZC keep going you are doing a phenomenal job!
@@shannongaines4421 thank you I actually finishing a 72 hour fast 10 am 😊❤️
I did a 72 hour fast and I felt hyper alert! My wit was better, more clarity. It was amazing!
Interesting presentation, the research suggests what I suspected: don't do fasting until you are in good general health. Then, add in IF and longer fasts for "super-health", if you will...haha.. I'm 48 hours into a 72-hour fast and feel great. I do OMAD almost everyday, but haven't done a 72 for about a year - felt I needed it. Dr. Boz is right, it's truly enlightening... You go 2 days with no food and you feel amazing? Goes against everything society tells us about nutrition. In the future, food and culture will most certainly change.
I am trying to understand the message here. Is her message not to fast if you are insulin resistant because after 5 weeks, you still need to get more benefits (contrary to what others are saying), or is her message do 23:1 so your body gets adapted and then do 72-hour fasts?
Absolutely foolish conclusion to say obese people shouldn't fast. So unbelievably ignorant and myopic. GH is nothing when it comes to other benefits of Fasting for obese people.
Agree, I was shocked when I watched this video.
Missed the PhD behind your name. Lol.
She teaches you need to get healthier first. (Somewhat).
Listen to the first couple of minutes again.
@@rhemamachaira8763
Lol, it's YOU that needs to listen again, and not just to the first couple of minutes, the whole thing. You don't need a PHD to recognize stupidity.
Sorry to hear about your Dad !
You help so many people and we love 💕 you !! Fasting has an amazing effect on our bodies and mind !! Our best to you 😘
I don't know what you are talking about. Because, I am very inflamed a lot of the time and I have to fast for at least 48-72 hours to get anything going at all. And, then, I feel great and actually start burning some fat. It's not torturous. It's freedom. So, I have totally different results than what you're showing here. I have to assume they are still eating and drinking too many crappy things.
People that are inflamed often do better with higher starch or at least mostly vegetation. I can't lose much weight if I eat any sort of flesh food at all.
Thank you Dr. This video explains so many dynamics, that clear up many different issue of bodyly fat, its detriment on health and the remedy of time restrictions on feeding and its dynamics.
This video needs to be spread around all over everywhere.
*Thumbs Up For The Video*
Dr Boz, I’m just seeing this two yrs after your parents passed. I’m very sorry for your losses 🤗 love all your videos and what you share 💛
Is there any benefit to extending the 72 hour fast to 4,5,7 days?
Interesting. You’re DISCOURAGING unhealthy people?! I am 54, have controlled HTN, and a BMI of 34. Fasting has been WONDERFUL for me!! My blood tests (glucose, cholesterol, etc) improved greatly. I am currently 67 hours into a 72 hour fast and it’s great!
“Healthy people like me are the only ones that can fast 👸” Shame on you!
I don't quite understand the video. I think this is an anti 72 hr fasting video for older unwell people. Not a promotion for 72 hrs.
What are the conditions of these fasts in the the studies you’re showing? No food at all for a month? How’s that possible?
How does one know if they’re not one of those people where a 72 hour fast won’t work? How do I know if I’m chronically inflamed and/or if I’m insulin resistant?
Gist of message: "This is not for YOU! Oh, goodness no! This is only for beautiful, healthy people like ME... and it's wonderfully enlightening! Too bad YOU can't experience it."
Seriously. Like wtf?
Question. After the Norepinephrine burst, how long do you stay in that state of enlightenment?
Thank you for posting this information. I saw Don Tolman at a conference & started to learn about his work. The rainbow diet & signature foods. He could not recommend fasting highly enough so I tried it. Twelve days I lasted. I was working & weight training daily with no fatigue & only around day ten did I feel a bit tired during the day but that too passed. I felt so amazing afterwards & have sworn by it since at times especially when I need some clarity.
I fasted 3 days when my Dad passed away naturally, just didn't want to eat. One of those things that happens...I just started intermittent fasting a week ago. Lost a couple of lbs in a week.
A bath of love
At the end of 72 hr about 30 minutes more love 💕 this thank you. I do it every week too bc I mirror yours but start earlier. I started the eighth week one (Redmond) just continued Thur- Sun. 78 yrs got to 69 G/4.9.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your father. Thank you for these videos they are both excellent and very helpful. And you are looking lovely--your diet and fasting is working.
Thank you .. I miss him every day
Looks to me like its actually working in Insulin insensitive overweight people, it just tastes a very long time for it to yield positive effects.
i've done this before for as long as 6 months of rolling 72 hour fasting cycles and its effects were absolutely profound and i definitely fell into

Thanks for the info!!
Since starting my fasting lifestyle in January, my glucose tested at 56!
Hey Dr. BOZ, I am Adi, living in Germany so sorry for my bad english.
So, I am right now in my new experience with 72 h fasting, I am doing this fasy every week, plus keto, plus OMAD ! I am in this diet for 3 months now, I started with 8 days without food, just water, and after that, I eat for 7 days, and again for 7 days fasting.
The thing is that I lost about 28 kg in 3 monts, and from the second day of my first fast, I let my pils for hyper blood presure, I was diagnosticated with high blood presure, 165/105 about 2 years ago. Right now, my blood presure is 105, 120 with 65, 70 !
I was starting this madness from 121 kg, and today I had 94,6 kg at 50 years old.
In all my prolong fastings my glucose never drop down to 70 !
But today, I am in a deep ketoses 3.3 ketones, with first time glucose was at the level 63 ... I am feeling very ok, and what I understood from this video is, if I have this low level of glucose in my blood, and so high level of ketones, this is the right place to be for my health right ?
This explained my situation. I felt super sick after my second rollong 72 fast, I laid on the bed for 3 days with totally no energy. We should start slowly.

If you're taking electrolytes and sesmoss you'll be fine.
I think shes great. Everybody can do their own research
🎶 Note to self: Music at beginning (don’t add to playlist).
72 hours is my goal. My longest fast is 40 hours. I would like to hit 48 and then conquer 72. I’ll take it step by step.
My only concern is that I’m 155 lbs. I fast for my immunity bit weight loss. Brain stimulation is key. I want to fast but not go down in weight but it’s impossible. I don’t need to lose any weight. But the mental clarity and potential autophagy is great. I’m 29 and love to fast.
WOW!!! I am so good at fasting but am a good 60lbs overweight...I will definitely be stopping my Mon to Wednesday fasts and go back to intermittent, thank you sooooo much, this is a game changer!!
I thought people did a fast to lose the weight and to get rid of inflammation. .Sounds like your saying that only young healthy people can or should do a fast..
Just finished a72 hour fast. Going to go for 96 hours. However, my keystones are .5 but my blood sugar is 123 ?
27hrs deep into my 72hr starvation fast. 👊🏿🤘🏿
I am starting the 72 hour sardine fast tomorrow. Does the sardine fast have the same benefits as this 72 hour fast?
Interesting DR Boz, I IF [16.8] daily, 24hr fast weekly, and 48hr fast monthly; all water only, and have been doing this for ~3yrs. I also avoid processed carbs i.e. pasta, bread, sugars etc [only having a slice of bread occasionally], so I assume I am fat adapted. I have notice that the clarity you speak of never comes, but I do get a sense of calmness at ~ the 30hr mark of fasting; almost like a sudden switch....does anyone else experience this?...Dr Boz your thoughts/comments?
listening to this while breaking my 96 hour fast.
I’m at 48 hours right now. Want to get to 72 hours but kind of not feeling that great.
Expecting a major response with people that have abuse their bodies and immune system for years in five weeks will never happen. Takes much longer time.
i disagree. Years ago, I was a mess. After 4 days into a fast, I could not believe the pain relief. Everyone is different and will respond differently. A 3-day fast can be life changing.
@@deniserollick1746 It seems my second day is very good but at 72 hours I'm starting to want something and that overrides my high. I know at 72 I have three days but the times I've tried for more didn't work for me.
How can you tell if you should not do longer fasts? I am reasonably healthy and typically fast 16:8 five days a week. I also fast 4 days every quarter for the last 2 plus years. I can do this pretty easily. I miss the enjoyment of eating but don't get very hungry. However, I never experience the energy rush or mental clarity you describe. Does that mean I am still unhealthy and should not do it?
Cold showers plus fasting for 3 days every two month 🦾🦾🦾

Yes, Dr. Boz. That's exactly how I've felt since my parents died. Invisible strings are still there, but holding, hugging, and seeing - them - is priceless.
This is wrong i was overweight and insulin resistance, Did a 72 hrs fast and Ive never felt better. My growth hormone went right up.
Love the video, very insightful and you do a great job explaining everything. the emojis instead of points on the graph were confusing though
I have been eating just lunch only. I have done this for a week plus no problems. I was wanting to know if she was suggesting to eat once in 72 hours
My condolences, take care!
Longest I’ve gone was 96 hours, lost 15 lbs. now if I do 96 hours, nothing happens
91 is my max, started getting weak and the high was gone around 72 hrs.
In 4 daya you lost 15lbs?
Thanks Dr. Bosworth. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
It’s almost like she’s telling you not to fast because it definitely won’t work for you so you’ll go “oh ya??? watch me!” 😭
2 hours to go from completing my 72 fast
Thats awesome, keep going ...dont let this video put u off 😂
Thank you. Three days really help me.
Good info!
Thanks for the praise … if you want the full lecture - it’s my favorite. It’s the last lesson in the CONSISTENTLY KETO online course … you can find a lot of the info my YT channel.. or in the workbook /book ketoCONTINUUM
Will a 24 hour dry fast be 3 times as effective as a 24 hour water fast, thus being the equivalent to a 72 hour water fast?
There is nothing positive about dry fasting. I wouldn't touch it.
@@deniserollick1746 Thank you for your view. Do you have anything in particular against it?
Dry fasting does great things. REALLY burns up fat as your body converts them to H20. My problems were two fold. Constipation due to dehydration. The fix for that is to water fast for a day or two first and clean yourself out. The other is w/o electrolytes/salt/potassium you get lightheaded. Be aware of your surroundings and take this slow. Like when standing up in the morning. If you live alone and have stairs, etc, be aware and cautious. Dry fasting stresses the body much more, which is a GOOD thing, if done with caution. Don't work out, exercise. Just chill and focus on staying relaxed, get a full night's sleep, avoid unnecessary stress.
@VOIP Portland Many thanks, VOIP Portland, for your good advice. You have confirmed pretty much what I understood. It's nice to see some positive comments.
When I started fasting a couple of years' ago, 24 hr water fast, I found it really difficult as the water seemed to whet my appetite. Prior to this, I had been a few weeks with low carbs, not so much for weight loss as for working on insulin resistance. When I learnt that a dry fast was 3 times more effective than a water fast, this very much appealed to me, particularly as I didn't really want to go longer than 24 hrs. I have been trying to take in more water, for the same reason as you commented on.
Thanks, again.
@@deniserollick1746 yeah, you are super uninformed.
Joan how many 72 hrs fasting should we do in a month
My doctor just told me that 3days fasting every 3 months is good.
You're so easy to listen to. Thank you for all the info... Listening while 17hrs into my 72hr fast
6 weeks carnivore keto. A lot of tangible results. BUT. I’ve developed a spaciness in my head everyday. It has not passed so I’m adding carbs back in moderation to see if this doesn’t clear up. Any input????
