      Same here. My mom fell victim to that belief and passed it on to me. I was discouraged from developing my own interests as a child because the things I was drawn to had 'low vibrations' and I was 'hurting myself' by having them in my life. I had intrusive thoughts and felt negative emotions from time to time, like any human does, which made me feel guilty for bringing misfortune on myself and people around me, which in turn created more and more intrusive thoughts and negative emotions.

I blamed myself for everything bad that had ever happened to me, even when I knew it wasn’t logical. I feel so freed after watching this. It’s so dangerous and harmful, these facts are so important for everyone to know.

      The teachings of "we are gods" and "we are worms," although looking like opposites, result in the same cruel damage to those who believe.
      If you're NEVER allowed to just accept both the glory and the absurdity of being human, it will lead to a dark place. Stoicism, determinism, Calvinism etc. lead to the "we are worms" conclusion -- so anything bad that happens to you is your fault, even if you are unable to change it. A little bit insane and unhinged.
      But the opposite, "we are gods," ALSO means that anything bad that happens to you is your fault, because you didn't "believe" enough or have strong enough ability to prevent it.
      Both of those views completely strip us if our humanity. There's no mercy, no compassion -- just blind, brute worship of "principle" even in the face of self-mutilation.
      Letting go of that lust for "certainty" is paradoxically the only path to emotional security.

    I've read The Secret. Honestly, my takeaway is that positive thinking can help motivate you when you feel shitty, but you have to do the actual work to achieve actual stuff. If you're sick, go to the doctor, if you want money, you have to work at something.
    A perfect life will not just fall into your lap because you think happy thoughts.

Both of my siblings started to do evil things. They ruined my reputation with terrible lies and think it’s funny. They stole laptops, jewelry and my gold and silver coins. When I first started suffering from this, I was a believer that thoughts have some special meaning, and that belief amplified my OCD. Listen, take it from me, I was depressed, suicidal, and gave up on my life 7 years ago, I decided with willpower to change my way of perception and the story I was telling myself. The thoughts that were in my mind were negative, I was broke, didn't see any way out, taking care of a sick parent, felt stuck in life, and my thoughts were down right draining the life out of me. A sudden shift happened within myself, I stopped feeling sorry for myself and I took accountability for everything in my life then let go of fear and guilt. I started believing in myself more, and things I wanted would happen, I put in the effort for them though. Things don't just magically happen for you, you must seek them out with intention, willpower and action. Positive thinking helps a lot though, to see the bright side of a horrible situation might change the way you see everything in life. Now I look for opportunity In every situation (good or bad). Final thoughts...A true "Guru" won't charge you money to teach you something that is priceless. There are too many scammers out there so be careful!

      My life has been changed through doing some of these new age practices along with Ritual Magick. I'm with you because you can't just do the internal work, it takes external effort. Almost everything I've learned has cost me nothing. I don't pay for workshops or seminars, and occasionally I will buy and audiobook or regular book to learn some deeper things. Even science is starting to suggest that reality is just a simulation and that our mind is what creates everything we see. We can all benefit from the help of psychotherapy and belief in ourselves. Again though I also believe that you still need to do the external work to give the internal a path of least resistance to work through. For example my partner and I did a ritual to manifest a new job for me that I would be happy at and be working for someone who was a good leader. I had already put in applications at that point and got a call the next day from a job an interview that lasted 5 min because it was a formality and started the following Monday. My manager is exactly the type of person I wanted to work for because he is a good leader and isn't going to stay in the same place forever, he is moving forward and is already putting in extra time to make sure I'm better at my job. Do I think I could of got the job either way, sure, do i think getting called the day after the ritual was a direct result of us doing that? Maybe or maybe not all I know is it put my head in the space to go after what I wanted. I just got lucky the first call I got was exactly what I wanted.

And because I don’t charge money, and offer myself freely and help people get the results they wish for... I’m absolutely hated for it... new age spiritual folk in this for the money are, and can be quite vile creatures. When they discover you’re not like them and in it for the money and ego swell. They will attack you in anyway possible. Stooping lower than the energies they speak about. Your uncle is correct in my opinion. My experience tells me that most of these people are actually quite mentally ill and un aware of it, or in denial. Most of them can’t even follow the basic fundamentals that they teach. And as soon as you ask any questions that may seem “logical” or “rational” you are immediately cast aside... “not resonating” on the “right frequency” etc 😂 trust your uncles words! Thanks for creating this. When The Secret came out, some of my best friends embraced it. We argued passionately with me questioning its absurdity and my friends defending it. One gay friend argued that as he'd learned from The Secret that the reason we are assaulted physically and verbally by bigots is because we expect to be. He went on that he got on a bus one day, where he's used to being called the F word and no one said anything bad to him because he forced his mind not to expect it. Notwithstanding the fact that as children, we never expect to be called these things or assaulted but we LEARN to expect them over a lifetime of such abuses, this movie taught my friend that being abused was his fault and that he could avoid being abused by basically burying his head in the sand. The Secret preys on people's need for control over things they can't control and misleads its audience into thinking they can't alter their lives with expectations. One of The Secret gurus caused the grizzly deaths of 2 high-paying followers in a fake Sweat Lodge where the group participants were all scalded by steam which he forced them to endure by concentrating, to the fatal detriment of his followers. Another of The Secret gurus was an admitted ex-convict. Con! The worst party to this crime, in my opinion, is Oprah Winfrey. She's a smart woman and has made herself very successful by her own efforts following effective thinking, not wishful thinking. Yet, she deliberately promotes these lies and these liars almost as a sort of class warfare tactic where billionaires seem to realize the best way to stay super-wealthy is to 'throw out oil slicks on the race track' of success, fooling people into wasting their time and not acting rationally to achieve. And many people eat it up. A second friend was poor, as we all were, and The Secret really appealed to her so much that it literally hurt and offended her need to believe it such that she became angry with and resentful of me for criticizing the ludicrous structure of the il-logic of the Law of Attraction. I call it the Law of DISTRACTION.

    Thank you for doing this video. I worked for a person who was an amazing therapist but was very much involved in these coaching programs. A colleague who worked with me took me to one of these new thought events. I was also at a very emotional vulnerable place at the time. These group (large group awareness trainings) are insidious! I spent a weekend in a hotel conference room with no natural light with people I didn't know. We were guided through intense exercises designed to work us up, make us more vulnerable and instill this communal bond with each other. By the end of the third day, the final exercise had all of us, including myself in tears. Then came the sales pitch. "You want to continue to do this good work? Don't you? Don't let your money issues (read thought blocks) be an obstacle. Go talk to so so (who had some Pali or Sanskrit name when they were clearly Bob or Mary or Joe or Sue)." I was pissed and so turned off after that experience. It is incredibly culty and my have an automatic adverse reaction to it because many of my family members have been swept up into this B.S. for decades. Spiritualism, Scientology, Rosicrucianism, Jehovah Witness, Eckankar. I've come to reject it in adulthood because it is abusive gaslighting profiteering rackets.

      @@postcodeox278 it really sucks though that they care more about the money than saving lives. If I recall correctly, there was this guy who discovered a cure to something and patented it but he wouldn't sell it instead he made it free since he wanted everyone to have access to the cure. But then once the patent expired companies got their hands on the patent and basically have turned it into a monopoly. In addition, all the companies at the top of the monopoly help each other so that they can all benefit. While we common folks all have to pay their high amounts for that cure.

    Great video, and right on target. I was deeply involved in the new age world for twenty years, and I feel that much of my need to believe these things were the result of unresolved childhood trauma and wanting things to magically be better and even easy. This stuff is so seductive to the spiritual bypassing set...happy I pulled out of that and finally became a more critical thinker and learned to face my pain and the complex and hard truths about life. Wish I had been able to do it sooner.

      He is forgetting one thing..some people believe in karma...and as an example the people who are born in poverty and starve their whole life is a result of their actions in previous lifes..theyve build it themselves..how can you explain it otherwise..why would nature or god let innocent people suffer and others born in riches lead a wonderful live?
      My logic is that the law of attraction works in a way for certain people and people who have been born in bad circumstances is more the result of bad karma

    • @ik1408
      @ik1408 3 роки тому +20

      I am replying to the karma question and explaining why karma most likely does not work. 1. Lessons from punishment are learned when people know what they are punished for and not when they have have no recollection of their past deeds. 2. Among rich and fortunate people, there are so many really bad characters, skunks. If reincarnation really happens, it is logical to assume that the character traits of an reincarnated person are preserved from one reincarnation to another. Otherwise, it would not be called reincarnation (bringng the same human entity into another round of life). Hence, a person, who is bad in this life, was also bad in his/her previous lives and did bad things as the person's character dictated. Yet, in this round of life, they are still nasty, but not punished by karma for being nasty in their previous lives and living in wealth. This indicates no karma. Think of German Nazis, who tortured and killed thousands of people, looted money, escaped from Europe, moved to America and lived long and enjoyable lives after that. What kind of karma lets such monsters live decades of their lives in luxury after they committed those crimes? No karma. Karma is comforting belief of weak people, who are not strong enough to stand up against bad guys.
