Great review and spot on. I have the same model and I will say, the 19 inch tires makes the ride a lot more quiet and takes the bumps very well.
I just purchased a '19 XC40 T5 Momentum having driven GMs most of my life and I fell in love the first time I drove it. Even at 4 going on 5 years old with ~50K miles it drives like a dream. Your review is spot on. It's nice to see the differences I'd find if I upgraded to new.

I did a map update on my 2021 yesterday and was left with a bricked vehicle in a dark car park for three hours while it tried to install. The Volvo online operator had a tow truck coming to take me to the nearest dealer with a 90-minute eta ($) when suddenly the update was finally completed, and my car would start again. Even doing a factory software reset didn't help, and my car has been doing strange things ever since. Reset settings are resetting, and don't seem to want to stick. Very frustrating for an otherwise nice vehicle.

Looks like the Ultimate compares closely with a loaded BMW X1. You can get an X1 pretty comparably equipped to a $50K Volvo, but for $45K with 18” wheels that probably rides better. The big plus I see for the Volvo is the elimination of lag/lurch which is the biggest drawback of the X1, which is a bit roomier and gets better gas mileage. Any thoughts on a comparison?
It is advisable to read the Consumers Reports road test of this vehicle, which is cautionary to say the least.
We just bought one of these equipped basically like this one. However, I do think the terms dark and bright refer to the interior. Ours is a bright meaning it has the white seats. This one has black interior making it a dark.

Has anyone had issues with the reverse camera when it’s very dark ?
I don't think XC40 has 8 speeds gearbox, it was in earlier models. Now it has 7 speed dual clutch, where before it was torque converter.
By saying Gas do you mean petrol ?
First this is NOT a 2024 due to its essembled 2023 but VOLVO want to call it 2024 and when you go to sell or change with carseller they will count as 2023 do remeber it.
2024 XC40 B5 Ultimate version is not available in Sweden yet but who knows if its shows up next year 2024, i have emailed VOLVO and they dont answered yet or so far wondering about my questions.
I dont know how in other countries count when it comes to new car such as the malus tax on car first 3 years which exists in Sweden though and fourth year will go to normal yearly tax.

The reason ill pass on the xc40 is small leg room in the back, that wedge in the the window which i think detracts from the look, the small back door opening, the fact that the rear seats dont recline, and finally the horrible design of the entertainment area in the front.
