These ikea stoves are fantastic. I put three screws and nuts through the holes in the bottom. This allows an airflow and the screws can be pushed into the ground for stability. I used this as a project for a scout troop and the scouts loved it- coming up with some interesting variatons.
Thanks a lot. I was curious about whether there would be enough airflow from the bottom. Putting it on a stone like this functioned well, but otherwise I suppose lifting it a bit is a necessity. And, as you say, even for stability.
Welcome to the party pal! - John McClane in Die Hard 😂 I made my first IKEA stove in March of 2018 and I was by no means the first person to make one. Nor will you be the last to make one 👍🏻😊
Hehe. It sure is not my idea. I have seen them made in different ways, and I have had my Ikea utensil on the shelf for years. Then I decided to finish the project. Thanks for a nice comment.
👍👍👍 .. nice 😊. I have made IKEA 'Hobo' Stoves for each of my kids, wife and myself. I burn wood, charcoal and alcohol-based fuels (liquid and gel) in mine. Smaller diameter pots .. I use tent pegs through the sidewall holes or a stainless steel IKEA pot stand, cut in half and placed on top of the stove. Some slots in the top of the stove keep the stand in place. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..
What a nice functional stove!
We agree!
