Matchmaking is definitely weird so far. It might be because of the influx of players, but after 19 games in - mainly domination, kill confirmed or hardpoint at times, my W/L is 0.56. I focus on the objective as much as I can, but man is it frustrating to try to win with lower skilled players or new players especially when half the team ends up leaving mid game. When I get placed with the pub stomping team, which is rare, it’s total map control and the other team starts leaving. Did not experience this during the MWII or MWIII and my game play tendencies haven’t changed. And yes, I’m queuing up solo, as I did the last two games. K/D is about 1.56.

The spawn logic is atrocious in Free for All. It is like 99% "Revenge spawns", you will spawn next to the person that just killed you the majority of the time. Also despite some of the maps being quite large, it just loves to spawn only on the edges of the map.
It bothered me that Ace was like "I only play one mode but the spawns seems fine to me" when the only mode he plays is the only one with good spawns lol
Okay, I was starting to feel a little crazy with some of the reactions and takes on the game that social media was pushing into my timeline so it's a relief to see somebody like yourself having an initial impression similar to my own. The main star of this game right now is just the pure gameplay feel and I don't hate any of the maps (yet lol), so hopefully once the sweatiness calms down, we all learn the maps, and maybe a few small tweaks to visibility they'll go from feeling fine/good to good/great. I think my only main divergence from what you said is think I've played Red Card enough to say I like it. It's giving me Strikezone vibes from Ghosts, particularly the front of the stadium. I do agree that it feels like it spawns you a bit too far away but I remember Moscow and Miami feeling like that when I started playing Cold War, and they either fixed that on Moscow or it didn't feel as bad once people learned the map. Also I think the spawn distance might feel more pronounced than it really is because of how many of the smaller maps spawn you right on the edge of the action. Anyway, bottom line is I have no major complaints and I'm having a blast with the game so far!
My main issues are terrible visibility (especially on warhead), strong SBMM and rather tedious daily challenges. I also think the point to win should be doubled in hardcore faceoff, especially kill order, which always ended in like 3 minutes
Treyarch is by far my fave developer. and this game so far feels awesome. i wasnt a fan of mw3. this games flow, look and feel is on point. and there really isnt a bad map. very solid launch, i do wish we had a ground war/invasion mode.
I played the campaign first for the first time ever. Definitely can recommend if you want to just game a little. It's a really good campaign experience.
@@boss-is5fz I agree. They're fun until you do them fir the fifth time. That's one of the few things I would critique as well. Especially the password puzzles. I did really enjoy the mansion puzzles though.
I think the same. Normally when I don't like a COD I know that with a little patience and learning maybe I can like it, but when the TTK is high, and the maps are small, I uninstall it and forget about it forever. It's a game for people who take Speed pills. No Thanks.
One bug I keep running into is picking a custom loadout, and it not applying the loadout properly. For example, I have the XM4 with an extended mag, and a specific sight. It puts the default loadout of the XM4 in its place. I have to back out of those matches because I can't get them to apply my loadouts. Other than that, I'm enjoying it.
Same here...when adding a new custom loadout it duplicates the favorite selected load out and the silencer doesn't appear on the xm4 in games so idk if its actually working or not
What map is it with the house in the middle with 2 or 3 storeys is it payback? When you die you spawn in the little cabin at the bottom and somebody all they have to do is camp at the stairs to your right and you can't get out. I died 6 times in a row to this, they need to fix the fucking spawns.
Create a new weapon build and delete your bugged weapon build. (Can't guarantee this will definitely fix though because I only had the LW3 bugged and fixed)
you are not the only one who feels it takes longer to kill than it does to be killed. WEIRD how that works. Glad I am not alone with how it feels. Nice video, I enjoy them.
One thing I noticed is that by default on PlayStation 5 the game is incredibly dark. You can't change the settings in the game menu and instead it's honestly just best to turn off HDR on the system settings and manually addressed the brightness in game from there.
Interesting, I‘ve been away some time from cod and I really like most of the launch maps. I think the one with the worst flow for me is Red Card. Somehow only played one game there during 6h of playtime but that one game was horrible.
Also side note, gun xp rate needs to be increased. And I can't find anywhere that shows you the gun progression unlocks (like what attachment you get each level)
Domination on Payback seems like one spawn side has a big advantage in capturing the B-flag because they have access to it from the perimeter of the map, but the other side doesn't.
It has some things i like: ttk, sound, omnimovement. But the MAPS are terrible for this fast movement. There is no map control, bad flow and every mode feels like deathmatch. I mainly play ranked and im really worried. Feel like it will suck with these maps
@@kiprasking8581 maybe, but headshots will always be a kill. So they might be better overall down the line, but getting headshots will always be the same difficulty as it is now I figure
Whoever at treyarch put their foot down and said "give us a proper development cycle" deserves their flowers. It's crazy how good this feels in comparison to IW games and how much all the little things feel well considered. I don't need the specialist bonus but it's powerful to use. I don't need omni-movement but it's intuitive and fun. This game has issues but day 1 is so much better than any IW game in the last few cycles

Player from the golden age here This game have the chance to become one of the best competitive cods, They need to fix that random recoil feeling thing tho, all guns shake like crazy while having no recoil ? Feels weird
I agree, the spawns arent nearly as bad this time, obviously in Free For All you will sometimes have an enemy spawning behind you. But in MW3 and MW2 you had those situations back to back to back
I won't be able to play till next week, but I'm happy to hear we are getting an experience that's actually polished for once! Edit: I'll learn to not just blindly trust the auto correction when I'm in a hurry and trying to write a sentence
Hey Ace I know you don't really play gunfight, but nobody is addressing the issues so if you get a chance can you shine some light on them: 1) there seems to be no prox chat/chat between/after rounds. We should be able to talk to the enemies between rounds like SnD 2)can't use tomahawks for 10 seconds. I get disabling lethals for a few seconds but this really shouldn't apply to tomahawks (they specifically mentioned making immediate tomahawks work in mp but apparently this change did not apply to gunfight) 3) there's only 4 maps, come on treyarch. Hopefully they'll add more but I am concerned
If he dont play the mode, there is nothing for him to address. Thats like asking what the meta is in Warzone. He dont play so no point in talking about it.
Mostly agree with you here. I had an instance with desync or poor connection where someone killed me across the map with the XM4 and I legitimately only heard 3 hits to me before I was dead. Generally Treyarch games have that very punchy sound for every hit you take but on occasion I've had it not register every hit, and it's always the instance I feel I died instantly. Skill matching is still definitely a pain to. Can never have an enjoyable experience like the very first game on here afterwards. First game was great and super chill. Immediately the next game everyone is jump spamming, drop shotting, you name it. CoD just isn't like that man. Blows my mind. Too many people have their egos riding on this game.
Polished experience 😂 Lobbies are fucked at times. Level Shown is fucked at times. They removed Tracking challenges. HC and Core is on the same tab and is clunky to manouver. When you spawn in late there is a pick wrapon loading screen, but you are spawned in and can die. This is far from polished. I also wanna know why they removed the ability for us to disable omnimovement when they even promoted saying "We will add a setting to turn it off" yet when you turn off the 2 settings that are linked to omnimovement....it doesn't work
The sweats are insane. First 3 games were insanely fun, then the SBMM hit and I got into some sweaty lobbies. Dudes with gold guns already, australian streamers. Went from a 1.8kd to a 1.3kd. 😂 A lot of the maps are so small you spawn in front of enemies and they spawn infront of you. Game felt insanely smooth though, performs really well on my pc 144/max graphics. I get the worst team mates, I’ve won one game out of 10. Where I get absolute air heads and sweatlords with gold guns on the other team. I made a video on this. Weapons feel good, lethel. They really need to tone SBMM down because versing losers who take time off work to play a video game just to get one viewer on their twitch. I still think the movement is really smooth and it’s been fun trying to figure out how to use the movement to outplay people.
Game runs terribly on my PC, unless I lower everything to the lowest settings, except Textures. Then it runs great, but it's CoD, I was hoping it would run maxed out no problem, considering the PC I have (RTX 3080, Ryzen 7 7800X3D).
I am quite enjoying the game. For the first time in years we actually have a decent CoD game. The maps are not as bad as I had feared, though if Payback, Babylon, and Derelict simply got deleted from the game I wouldn’t miss them. They are dreadfully small, tight, and boring. All of the maps except maybe Red Card, Low Town, and Vault could stand to be about 10-20% larger, but they all play fairly well with the exception of the 3 I mentioned above(have not played Warhead as of yet somehow, probably because they’ve shoved Babylon and Rewind down my throat about 6 times each). The Dom flags need to be moved on Subsonic as well, I think all 3 should be in a triangle on the outside of the map and the interior should be the transitory section and it would flow better imo, but it plays pretty well on TDM and KC. The camo challenges are perfect so far. The class system is nice, the UI feels pretty good except for when you try read any descriptions of perks and some equipment because whatever genius designed the UI didn’t anticipate that white text has a real hard time showing up against bright perk backgrounds and gun parts, but a small opacity change can fix that probably. Streaks are superb this year. They managed to strike a good balance between making streaks strong but not too oppressive while also making them a bit more tough to shoot down so they’re actually worth using while not being so rage inducing that you’d want to quit. Honestly my biggest gripe is just the map sizes. They’re bigger than I anticipated but they still feel far too small for the movement system we’ve been given. They would play perfectly with traditional CoD movement but with the omnimovement you take 5 steps any direction and you’re running into a wall or some angular object that doesn’t meld well with a fluid movement system. It’s like the game is a walking contradiction. It’s all the best parts of CoD wrapped in all the wrong packaging lol. Still, I’ve had genuine fun for the first time in years and that’s saying something.
Overall solid however I’ve had 3 - 5 different instances of DEV ERROR. and there glitch on face off where I was given other players classes instead of my own and they had gold camo. Either the classes did or that was a glitch all on its own but it meant for that game I couldn’t use my own classes and guns 😂😂
Im pretty sure the SBMM is more noticeable because the skill gap is much wider now. Longer TTK mixed with more movement options means every gunfight is an actual fight, not just melting someone. The desync feels more brutal in these cases, because it means a more complicated gunfight is now tipped against you. Also, I have seen some GNARLY spawn traps on domination, and not on the small maps. The outside snow map I have been triple capped and our entire team was stuck spawning in one single building with the enemy team pre-aiming all the doors. Also on Rewind my team has managed to get the ebemy team spawning in just one single corner with no cover the entire game.
Been playing a decent bit of zombies so far and I’m loving it! Movement feels really good, weapons both sound and feel good, challenges finally feel fun instead of grindy for the sake of it. I have unfortunately run into the stuttering issue from the beta but now in my zombies matches. Nothing worse than playing solo, game gets super stuttery and then I go down because I can’t play. Not connection issues or latency so I’m hoping they can get that sorted soon
This is a compliment, but your "Ace" cadence of speaking oftentimes reminds me of the cool uni professor that makes really dry jokes to his students but they love it
- Red card is a map straight out of MW2019 - I wish babylon, vault and the plane map didn’t have a similar daytime desert setting. -payback is cool. -menu is ok but better than previous cods on the cod application
So far I've actually encountered quite a few bugs that seem like important ones that need fixing. (I play on Xbox) For instance, my loadouts sometimes spawn as someone else's, like having a gold AR when I haven't even played with it yet, along with perks and equipment I haven't unlocked. I also keep getting bugs where I can't swap loadouts or change attachments on my guns. I've also encountered UI bugs that make the game look glitchy or not have UI when there should be. I know it's just the opening weekend, but I hope they get those kinds of things fixed ASAP.
On PC, I didn't play the beta so I'm comparing to MWIII, but my FPS took a massive hit, from around 110 to 50, made sure my settings were matched up. Even lowering what wasn't absolute minimum, I'm just able to get a consistent 60. There aren't stutters, it's just consistently low. Anyone else having similar?
My very first match of that soccer field map on hardpoint had my team being spawn killed down the escalators in the garage. It kept spawning us there as well
Maps and guns are the most important thing for me. For the maps I feel like I need to learn them first and get a feel for each one before I can comment but I agree nothing bad or even good in particular stands out. They're okay. Very inoffensive so far but as I learn them more I'll see what I actually like and hate about them. But overall off to a rough start. Game is really fun but I've encountered several UI bugs, couple of movement bugs, spawns are not great. Looking forward to the hotfixes because I am enjoying the gameplay a lot.
Game feels great so far, im not stuttering nearly as much as weekend 2 of the beta. I do have a friend who has horrible packet loss consistently tho so might not be everyones experience
The SBMM has changed ALOT! Since bocw I find every new cod I play, puts me into sweaty lobbies when I’m level 1 and never ever played the game. Those I’m up against are at least level 50 and around 2.0kd onwards. I believe the SBMM takes previous cods into account STRAIGHT away. Not just your last 5 matches but overall previous. I tested this by using a different account with no previous cod experience and it was ridiculously easy! I got bot players that looked like they’ve never ever played cod or any first person shooter!
I've only had time to play one game of Zombies before work so I've not played Multiplayer yet I'll have to tomorrow I enjoyed it in the Beta though Oh and I did get a Dark Ops challenge in my first Zombies game for making it to Round 30 without getting downed which was cool
Hardcore is fantastic! Because it's 100 health, but TTK tuned closely to 150-ish health, lot sof guns take 2 shots to kill and adds a little bit more depth to otherwise the typical one-shot kill festival that HC usually is.
Option to play only against selected input device is the feature I want the most. Game pad has literally aim bot and mnk players are just in a big disadvantage
Has someone who plays with a 4090 with maxed out graphical settings at 144 Hz locked on mw3 I think the graphics kind of suck on this new black ops game. They’re just not as good.
Had a few issues joining matches while in a party. It kept breaking the party up and giving me an error as the party leader. It happened maybe 6-7 times in a row before we could get a match going. Also on Subsonic I kept getting spawned literally in front of enemies that were already shooting. Not in front of them across the map, I’m talking arms distance to where they could’ve melee’d me if they wanted to.
The game is fun, but it's utterly absurd how they managed to DEGRADE PC performance so massively since the beta. Most upscalers (including DLSS) are broken in that instead of offering like +50-60% improved performance for the reduced source pixel count you only get like +20%.
It is what it is with sbmm these days kinda sounding like a broken record talking about it. That and surely the desync if it actually does exist will improve
They screwed the snipers, inaccuracy when you first aim, high sway and flinch and you against wespons that can beam you with no recoil from a mile away
I don't love how the only wildcard available is the tactical wildcard till at least after level 22 which is the level I'm on. If I decide to prestige I'm gonna have to unlock the wildcard I want to use the most
the sbmm is TIGHT, im not really having fun in more than half of these lobbies im just grinding kills where i can from being completely spawn trapped against with level 1's on my team... The only reason i dont leave is because i know i'll get an easy lobby the next game.... Because the sbmm is unequivocally tuned WAY to hard.
I also love the progression Ace I hate when you progress too fast and have nothing to do in the game I genuinely love grinding all day that’s the only way I can play with SBMM
Grind takes TOO DAMN LONG! Any one other CoD you have the 2-3 guns maxed out on day 1. Been playing all day and barely got AK to half way. This is unacceptable. Also can we have another gun besides M4/Mp5 ? Literally everyone is running it even lvl 40 dudes. Its too flexible
I hate when you get thrown into match mid map and you get killed while the screen is still loading up.
yeah so annoying...the select class resets after the timer counts down.
That can also work in your favor as well, it's annoying now cause it's different but after a while you'll get use to it

Why would the sweat get less over time? It’ll just get worse as people find the meta and rank up.
Found it too much focused on the puzzles personnaly
@@boss-is5fz I agree. They're fun until you do them fir the fifth time. That's one of the few things I would critique as well. Especially the password puzzles. I did really enjoy the mansion puzzles though.

The time to kill and time die is abysmal with the disgusting sbmm
I think the same. Normally when I don't like a COD I know that with a little patience and learning maybe I can like it, but when the TTK is high, and the maps are small, I uninstall it and forget about it forever. It's a game for people who take Speed pills. No Thanks.
One bug I keep running into is picking a custom loadout, and it not applying the loadout properly. For example, I have the XM4 with an extended mag, and a specific sight. It puts the default loadout of the XM4 in its place. I have to back out of those matches because I can't get them to apply my loadouts. Other than that, I'm enjoying it.
Same here...when adding a new custom loadout it duplicates the favorite selected load out and the silencer doesn't appear on the xm4 in games so idk if its actually working or not
My friend actually ran into this bug today as well, he was trying use his C9 class but instead it kept putting the AK
The optics for some classes show you the optics for every gun in that class.

Interesting, I‘ve been away some time from cod and I really like most of the launch maps. I think the one with the worst flow for me is Red Card. Somehow only played one game there during 6h of playtime but that one game was horrible.

Sometimes trying to enter gunsmith on a gun will kick you back to the main menu and reset the class

No doubt about it.
Agree with the matchmaking. Currently almost a 1 W/L and 2.5K/D and I'm stuck using my best classes just to inch out a win.

Hey Ace I know you don't really play gunfight, but nobody is addressing the issues so if you get a chance can you shine some light on them:
1) there seems to be no prox chat/chat between/after rounds. We should be able to talk to the enemies between rounds like SnD
2)can't use tomahawks for 10 seconds. I get disabling lethals for a few seconds but this really shouldn't apply to tomahawks (they specifically mentioned making immediate tomahawks work in mp but apparently this change did not apply to gunfight)
3) there's only 4 maps, come on treyarch. Hopefully they'll add more but I am concerned
Agreed. I'm a huge fan of gunfight and hope they keep improving it and not just forget about it like they did in mw3
If he dont play the mode, there is nothing for him to address. Thats like asking what the meta is in Warzone. He dont play so no point in talking about it.
I’ve had horrifically sweaty matches this time around. Holy hell.
Polished experience 😂
Lobbies are fucked at times.
Level Shown is fucked at times.
They removed Tracking challenges.
HC and Core is on the same tab and is clunky to manouver.
When you spawn in late there is a pick wrapon loading screen, but you are spawned in and can die.
This is far from polished. I also wanna know why they removed the ability for us to disable omnimovement when they even promoted saying "We will add a setting to turn it off" yet when you turn off the 2 settings that are linked to omnimovement....it doesn't work
Matchmaking itself told me not to buy the game yet. I will let you all finish your honeymoon; maybe later I will enjoy mine.
The sweats are insane. First 3 games were insanely fun, then the SBMM hit and I got into some sweaty lobbies. Dudes with gold guns already, australian streamers. Went from a 1.8kd to a 1.3kd. 😂
A lot of the maps are so small you spawn in front of enemies and they spawn infront of you.
My biggest grip is how pretty much every gun seemingly melts me in 1 frame. It honestly feels like MW19 with how fast I die lmao
Longer ttk? Feels way faster
This is a compliment, but your "Ace" cadence of speaking oftentimes reminds me of the cool uni professor that makes really dry jokes to his students but they love it
- Red card is a map straight out of MW2019
- I wish babylon, vault and the plane map didn’t have a similar daytime desert setting.
It kept spawning us there as well
my experience has been solid so far gameplay wise. just tired of the same old legacy code that Activision regurgitates every year
Matchmaking feels terrible to me. I haven't played COD in years and I'm already in sweatfest lobbies at level 1.
I've only had time to play one game of Zombies before work so I've not played Multiplayer yet I'll have to tomorrow I enjoyed it in the Beta though
Oh and I did get a Dark Ops challenge in my first Zombies game for making it to Round 30 without getting downed which was cool
One of the cleanest, most functional launches for Xbox ime
Hardcore is fantastic! Because it's 100 health, but TTK tuned closely to 150-ish health, lot sof guns take 2 shots to kill and adds a little bit more depth to otherwise the typical one-shot kill festival that HC usually is.
Call of Duty: XM4 War.
Domination is the only game mode where spawns are fine. In all the other modes, they were trash in the beta and still are now.
Having fun despite the issues
SBMM is gona ruin this game just like the previous years. Until they address the matchmaking issue I won't be buying any future cods
Option to play only against selected input device is the feature I want the most.

Same here, Dev error something
The game is fun, but it's utterly absurd how they managed to DEGRADE PC performance so massively since the beta. Most upscalers (including DLSS) are broken in that instead of offering like +50-60% improved performance for the reduced source pixel count you only get like +20%.
It is what it is with sbmm these days kinda sounding like a broken record talking about it. That and surely the desync if it actually does exist will improve
I agree with all of this. This game has so much potential though.
They screwed the snipers, inaccuracy when you first aim, high sway and flinch and you against wespons that can beam you with no recoil from a mile away
