Thank you for this video…restoring an old White Model 41, and ordered a new electronic power/foot pedal that fits the prongs….but when plugged in, the machine took off at full speed, light didn’t work…no foot pedal. The wiring on the old machines is like the old Kenmore you are showing…so after studying your video, I cut the molded plug end off, wired the power and foot pedal exactly like you are showing to the old Bakelite plug (mine designated black, red and white instead of your 1,2 and 3) and it runs perfectly via the foot control! I have to say it makes the most beautiful straight stitch I have ever seen. There appears to be almost nothing out there on old White wiring……..so I really appreciate this one.
I know I'm late to the party, just wanted to chime in, (for future reference) if you plug in your machine and runs full stop the easiest "fix" is to flip your plug 180 degrees.
I would really like to know how to join up and get in contact with you guys as I to have caught the bug, I’m really mechanically inclined with soldering and all the disassembly and what not, where I struggle is the wiring and electrical. I’m working on a Kenmore 158 and have gone over the rheostat pedal with some help from this vid thanks for that. My problem is after oil and look over brushes are good, I have no bottom end power and I see that the light seems to be going through the pedal or at least, if the light is not on then I can’t run the machine at all and I’m wondering if this is why I have no slow bottom end speed
Is there a video on how to access the foot pedal plug on a Kenmore 1325 sewing machine? Foot pedal says model 6811. The machine sits in a plastic case. I either have a loose plug connection or my cord is worn out. I bought this machine new in 1978.
Thank you so much. I have the exact same vintage Kenmore metal pedal. Your video helped me learn how to open it. The cord is stiff so I wanted to re-wire it. Now I'm wondering if I should just replace it with an electronic pedal. Would any cheap Chinese foot pedal work or should I look for something of higher quality? Is there a particular model you recommend? TIA
