I’m doing it anyway
Me to I’m about to do it today no regrets 😊
F’d up my hair loool, my hair was too long
Lmaoooo me too
Same I'm doing mine today 😂
I did mine few days ago. Turned out great.
I have no regrets. My hair is so much more manageable and I still have nice curls. But this is my experience.
I am seriously thinking of it for my daughter it's long and super thick and it's a battle
I have a box right in front of me lol did you Texturize your hair while it was in its natural curly state? My hair is in 2 strand twists rn.
I love mine too...especially the length
Jus Puddin how long have u been texturized & what product you used? Hope you get to see this & reply because I am planning on doing it myself.
Jus Puddin how long you been using it. You’ll end up just like the girl in the video years later
I love it... I never retained length with relaxers. Now I texturize every 3-4 months and my hair is longer than it’s ever been. However, I deep condition every 2weeks and do hot oil treatments. I’m in love but it’s different for everyone😍
Ek Hatch no a texturizer can be use for any hair length
Honest000w
A texterizer IS a relaxer.
Hello ! What texterizer brand are you using ?
Ek Hatch A texturizer is left on for a shorter period of time and is known to be less damaging.
@Ek Hatch Relaxer can be much more damaging whereas a texturizer has less chemicals making it less likely for breakage.
Oh and a texturizer is for all lengths.
On the bright side, you have short hair so as it grows out you can cut the texturized parts.
Apondi_B right...no biggiee...she can easily transition back...
Shrinkage :/
My hair is like medium length....how can i remove the texturizer?
I have a question I got my hair texturied like 3 or 4 years ago. My hair is way more thick now that ive stopped. Ive chopped the straight pieces of my hair now but is my hair still loosened up from the texturizes? Hopefully you guys can understand.
You might just be the cutest human being I’ve ever seen in my life... but I’m still about to texturize my hair lol
She’s very naturally beautiful 🤍✨
So cute.
Facts
I was thinking the same thing, she's adorable.
Never thought about texturizing my hair but gotta admit the tapered hairdo does you justice.. It's bomb AF 🔥🔥
Thanks girl!
Girl don't you worry one bit.
This is the beauty of African hair. It is a journey and not a boring one at that. At times mistakes will be made , other times you will find what works for you until you wonder how you lived without that hair regimen. You are still beautiful no matter what happened or happens. Enjoy the journey, good luck girl.
I love your comment! You are so encouraging. Thank you!

Well said ❤
We should have the FREEDOM to experiment and make mistakes!
All true but why can’t we just accept our Natural TEXTURE💁🏾♀️...
Nah African hair is more of a nightmare.Mines knots and gets messy way to quickly it’s a pain.
@@davida7696 Well that sounds like you haven't found a regimen that works for you. Or you just havent learned how to take care of it yet. That has nothing to do with African hair being a nightmare. You just dont know how to properly take care of yours, so yours is a nightmare to you.
I literally have to because my hair tangles sooo much in its natural state...when I texturize my hair it’s more manageable but that’s me
100% agree
Lea Clarke maybe because you not doing your hair right. Like not combing your hair correctly if you keeps tangling that much. You spray your hair with water and ALWAYS keep it moisturize and start combing it. You always comb from the bottom. Never from the top and it will not tangle.
Same as soon as water touches my head it’s becomes so tangly.
Texturizing helped my hair , grew it longer , made it wayyyy thicker after I stoped using them and it gave it thick curly hair even after I stopped using them . I had no damage & no break off. I loved texturizing my hair but it’s summer so I go natural Inna summer
Simply Taylor what is your hair type?
sehc356 4c but with texturizing it , it’s wayyyy softtt and wayyyy more manageable
What texturiser did you use and what was the after care?
What texturizer did you use?
I would love to know what texturiser you used...
Love your accent
Thank you!
I’m guessing she’s from SouthAfrica

I did it yesterday and i like how mine came out. I didn’t leave it in for the recommended time and left it in for a much shorter amount of time and it came out perfect. I left it in just enough so that it was slightly loosened.
Which texturizer did you use?
No disrespect to this video but i am going to be real with about my experience. I admit that i have thick average curly hair but during the quarantine my hair was unmanageable for about 6 mos. It was extremely thick and i was unable to comb through it. I would be so busy during the day that i just ignored it since we basically stayed home during pandemic. I decided to texturize because i would relax about twice a year but i wanted to try the natural route for 6mos. Anyway, IT WAS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE! I literally have more curls and they are ELONGATED CURLS. The texturizer makes the curls you have waaaay longer than before..I do not regret my decision and i wish y'all knew the less stress i have! To each its own but i have no regrets:)
What did you use?
@@cwezymusic i used Just For Me..i used two of them. Just follow the directions to the tee..hope this helps:)
@@slesheiamichelle great! Thank you 😊
Update? Do you still like it?
Love this Video. I had texturized hair with my boycut before growing my hair out. I always did my own texturizing at home. Never comb out the texturizer-rub with fingers. But if you want straighter edges/edges on fleek/hair gel responsive edges for nice baby hairs then you can gently press and pull the edges back with your finger while texturizer is "cooking". 2) I used men's texturizer -for some reason it was better curl pattern-wise. 3) Leave-in conditioner is bae. Texturizer tends to make hair crunchy and dry. Everyday application when hair is wet would work for me. 4) Water based hair gel (Eco) for Tinnie Winnie Afros is also bae (as was the case for me)....Perhaps I will do a 'tips' episode on Over 25 :) one day!
yes please
Thank you for sharing! I had actually thought of texturizing my own hair and then I chickened out, then later I wished I'd just done it myself! Your tips will really go a long way for me!
Please do
“is bae”

Don't regret gal thats the beauty of it, you will still return to natural. Play around with your hair 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love this! I should be happy to say been there, done that!
Just After texturizing my hair and I'm like man I should have done this earlier
I have no regrets tuxturizing my hair jus apply conditioner b4 applaying the relaxer n make sure nt to come it n not to leave it so long den u will have curls poping
I think it wasn't done right. I texturized my neighbours hair today and I used a detangling brush once through the process. The result was surprisingly good. Her curls were popping
Lola Adesina what texturized did you use on them?
Girl I regret straightens my hair so much, now I lost a lot of my hair. My hair use to be so thick and big and long. But I was so brainwashed about having straight hair. I wanted to fit in, now I want to go natural. I been natural for almost 2 years and love it
I hate it the texturizer messed up my hair I’m currently transitioning and been doing it for 3 months now . My hair is straight at the ends .
skin on the glow...sis i see the acne healing

am happy for you...(smiles)

I don't regret my texturizer. It's so much better then perming and my hair grows better and faster..but you shud only apply a texturizer no more then 3x's a year. It's still a chemical and if not we'll managed it will bring your hair out
I just texturised my natural after 8 years of natural hair and I hate the texture of the hair now. Definitely going back to my natural hair. I feel your pain girl.
I totally understand where you regrets come from. Im a curly girl and love my curls; regret allowing a untrained beautician to do a silk press on my hair which left it bone straight and it would not revert back. Finally found out it was extreme heat damage. I ended up cutting my hair off and letting it grow back curly. I totally regretted the whole process.
I know this! I’m so sorry. These hairstylist tho
I used to perm my hair and it would burn my scalp badly at times. Then went to texturing but noticed I would have different texturizes on the same strand. Just decided healthy hair was better than "beauty standards " idea of what is "good hair". Too many textured stranded ladies are doing so much stuff to their hair and are losing their hair. It just takes one bad chemical application to ruin your hair.
I had a texlax years ago and I eventually cut it off. My hair was damaged and I realized after the fact I'm allergic to relaxers of any sort. My hair was very dry, lack luster and very hard to maintain. My hair now 5yrs relaxer free is far healthier and shinier than it previously was.
I’m in the same boat with you, I thought I didn’t love my natural hair even after it had gotten to a decent length just because it was so hard to handle, but I really miss it now. And you’re right, when it’s wet, it has no bounce or curls 😫 I look like a wet dog.
I had mine done at Urban Hair Salon and Patrick used Mizani texturiser . He only applied with a brush and washed the chemical off immediately. I absolutely love it more as it's so easy to manage
That's great! He seems quite experienced, which I think is something I should have looked for.
Did you buy the texturizer yourself?? If no ..if you ever change your mind use the ORS texturizer and do it yourself at home..A close person did this and it turned out perfect
I didn't! I used the one in the salon. Thanks for sharing this though, even if I don't do this, I'm sure this will help someone somewhere.
Wea is ors texturiser available in Nairobi plz

The amount of women on this video liking chemicals and telling you it is ok to accept that mess rather than being healthy naturally with your hair. Is very sad indeed. An one comment that is telling people they have experience damaged from a texturizer, they are not responding to her at all.
I texturized my hair and at first it was good but looking back I regret it... it wasn’t till after my hair started growing back healthy that I realized how terrible it was... my hair had very minimal hair growth in the 2 years after I had it in, it’s now been 4 years since I had it and it’s just now growing (with the help of hair masks and rice water), it also made my hair dry and my coils were not the same. I have 4c hair and it does get hard to manage but I’m learning how to properly take care of it and learning what works for my hair by watching videos and through trial and error
You're being truthful.,Thank you Joanna,
I texturized my hair and I hate it. I can't wait until it is all clipped OUT!
I did an s curl texturizer last year in late May... almost a year later now my hair has broken off drastically and has horrible looking ramen noodle curls that fall out when they get wet. My hair DID NOT revert. My edges started to recede but I've gotten them under control. I through away a year of natural, shoulder length hair because I thought my curls we're too tight, nappy, not silky enough and I hated it. Now I'm doing a big chop again in 2019. Before you risk your hair for a texturizer please think "is it really worth it?" "Will my hair still be healthy afterwards?" "Do I really want this or am I doing it because I care what others think of my hair?"
Regardless of this comment and the video some people will do it anyway because sometimes enough is enough, I get it. I wish y'all the best of luck. You out here wildin 😭
A lot of them do not want to hear the truth. They would used those drastic chemicals anyway and alot of them be in denial on how these chemicals have their hair looking, because of the stringy look they like they still say it looks healthy when it doesn't. Natural will always be best.
I had a head full of natural hair, micheal jackson fro- texturized- some parts was curly some parts were straight kept wearing twists, was moisturizing with s curl activator spray
and all my hair started thinning, kept cutting weekly, kept thinning, starting wearing wash & go- still thinning, still cutting - So finally Big Chopped and starting over. 2 years natural gone to waist. Tears!!!😥
I texturize my own hair simple because I don't trust anybody to do th as t for me. I used I think beautiful botanical for kids and like you said it's all about the time you leave it in and not combing it out
Monique Boelijn yup, i'm with you. I don't trust hair dressers 😂😂.
It's not that I don't trust them cause I go to one to cut my hair and I am the kind of person that is very loyal to one person doing my hair if I like how she do my hair. But yeah except for cutting I do my own texturizer coloring etc
Monique Boelijn do you mind sharing what colour brand you use?
I havent color my hair in like a year. But last time i used a reddish color from creme of nature. My hair was dark brown and i was hoping it wont lighten up to a auburn brown. It did turn more reddish brown with a orange twist. The color i rock now is my natural color. I cut my hair real short nov last year so all the other color was removed. So yeah creme of nature and dark&lovely are my fav.
Monique Boelijn thanks 😘
I won’t repeat it again 😢😢😢😢😢😢
So, I texturized my hair, it was so soft, and I fooled everyone that I have very soft manageable curls. However, it's the worst mistake I made. My shoulder length hair is completely gone after 6 months (2 applications). If you have short hair, and have no care for growth, go for it. Want to maintain length, DON'T. Don't let anyone show you the procedure and not the long term results.
Texturizer doesnt stop growth that was caused by another problem
Sorry but sounds over processed.. Ik bcuz I've done it before.
You are wrong. Don't blame the texturizer. Blame your hair
You feel my pain, stretching my hair when I could be sleeping
I hated it, it made me realise I loved the versatility of my natural texture, everything ain't for everybody tbh🤷🏿♀️
I wish I never texturised my hair it completely changed my texture I want my original hair texture back!
Its not that your hair was overproccessed the ends were damaged and thats usually the case with everyone cause the ends are the oldest parts of your hair, your post to trim them often,so i think when u texturized your hair thats way the ends didn't curl
I texturised my hair at the beginning of the year after 10 years natural and it was the biggest mistake ever. My hair is now weak thin and breaks very easily. I protein treat regularly but it seems to not make much difference.
Deep protein treatment. Apogee 2 step or Olaplaex.. your hair will transform
But if you’re hair are manageable, you don’t need texturizer isn’t it ?
May jane exactly
Steam it with rice milk or water and rinse thoroughly!
I did it too and I absolutely regret it, had to chop off my hair after 4 long years 😫😫😫😫. I’m hurting
I just did a texlax on my natural hair after 3 years of being natural and it turned out AMAZING! I did mix conditioner in with the S Curl texturizer. My curls are still very present but my hair is soooooo much more manageable. I can wear it both ways now and my curl pattern looks so much better! I know I ❤️ my taxlaxed hair so much 😉 Everyone’s results are different. She stated that whoever did hers over processed her..maybe that’s why she lost so much of her natural curl pattern. I love mine and can wear it both ways now (curly - wash and go or a straight bob.
What kind of conditioner? Leave-in conditioner or wash after conditioner?
Wow! I want to texturize my hair but don't know how to go about it without coming out with a straight and curl-less hair.
I am not sure where we got the idea that our curls had to be "popping"? Maybe the problem is not our hair but our expectations...just saying.
i think you had issues because your hair was still short i was told to wait and be patient until your curls drop as it grows then do then texturize
I am in love with your accent! It really makes me want to listen to you... if that makes any sense lol. Thanks for sharing! 💕
Thanks for saving my nashoro hair! I was almost going for the texturiser
Keep it nashoro!
That's you're decision I loveeeeeeee it my hair is more manageable
Works for most
4:56 On most brands, the box usually suggest clipping the ends afterwards anyway
No regrets for me been relaxing for over a year and my hair is growing fast. It does break more easily
Jay Simone it could be because you putting too much relaxer on or overduing it if it is falling out
I texturized my hair (over the summer) it was sooo beautiful but now it’s just all over the place🤦🏽♀️🥺
Thank you guys for all your comments. I just heard of texturizer when my hairdresser asked me what I really want and she was like "you need to use texturizer not relaxer"...
I'm so happy I did mine! It's still curly and still has body but it doesn't tighten up when it gets wet which is great because I like to swim and not wear a swim cap but not I'm going straight relaxer
You look like a literal doll. Super pretty❤️
Thank you for being so real! Let me add, for me it was a volume thing I didn't like..my hair just became thin after hair days - I also think overprocessing. I tried to work with it for like 2yrs before going back to natural. You atleast, your hair looks alive. Anyway, your skin looks amazing!
Thanks girl! The volume thing is real, if I don't do twist outs, bantu knots etc, it looks thin and just unhealthy! At least we can say been there done that though!
Hi Joanna, it's not a problem. I did too and i regret but for one time you can let the hair growing threw it. You are beautiful it does not mather how your hair is. Gorgeus...!!! Hugs from Holland 😘
I regretted texturizing my hair big time! It became so messy and hard especially when the natural hair started to grow! But it's getting better now after continuous plaiting. All the same the styling looks good.
Thanks for sharing girl! I totally feel you. I'm not looking forward to how it'll look once it starts growing.
I just used just for me hair softener and left it on my hair on for 7 minutes. My hair still looks kinky but I can run a comb through it. I'm going to grow my hair out again. I'm glad the perm didnt take. LOL. I got lucky
I respect anyone about how they feel about a texturizer but honey, i love them. I have my hair cut super short and I got it bleached 3 weeks ago (honey blonde) Between the hot flashes and the change in climate the texturizer is the way to go for me. Stay safe kings and queens.
I have 3c hair and my issue is the frizziness. I’ll have big juicy curls with frizz In between. Thank you for this because I don’t need straight hair 😩 I probably just need a better gel or conditioner.
sis, my hair is natural and really really soft. And I texturized and it was AMAZING. You don't even have to cut it out. The things with texturizer is that it washes off with frequent washes. It's not as permanent as you make it out to be. Sorry for your bad experience lakini
Venus Cherop is this true???
What texturizer did you use? Did you apply it in sections? How long did you leave it on?
Learnto Crochet you could have different hair types best to find out what will work for your hair type
I texturised my hair a couple of times back then and it would break off or turn into some brown shade. I stopped, embraced my natural hair fully with its kinky texture, I have 4c by the way and so far it's coming out well. Texturizers, relaxers or chemicals may work for some people but not others. I love your hair by the way 😍💕
Great video love!
I had texturized hair from 2013/2016 and for the most part since I was in high school /uni it helped with managing my hair especially the fact that when it got rained on it didn't get affected by cutting or major shrinkage and that I had a really busy schedule to start doing sijui all the dedication that natural hair calls for...😂
However around August 2016 I started doing protective styling with braids and what not just to avoid going to the salon for a few more months -times of money were hard😅-
So now in December that year I had some really significant growth and what I noticed was it was so curly and thick compared to my other hair! It was so beautiful! So I decided to try out the whole naturalista lifestyle and I've been transitioning and growing my hair slowly and been trimming it At home myself polepole tu! It's now almost the same length as my texturized hair was last year and because of transitioning I haven't felt the pain of the big chop! Plus people haven't noticed that I've been cutting my hair....tho people say it's now so much fuller and I've gotten to know my natural hair is super soft and curly, like walalo hair...Haha
But I shall still say, hair is meant to be played with and have fun. I had fun with the texturized hair as it was really good and I was allowed to do heat styling as often as I loved however damaging...and now I'm in a different stage. In every stage you learn and evolve...and it's liberating.(Secretly I want to dye my hair too)
Take it from me, both are fine. It all depends on you boo! I genuinely like both the looks you have...and that you're keeping it real.
Anyway, nuff rumbling. Cheers love, stay winning and loving your channoooo
I love this! Thanks so much for taking time share. I agree, we should have fun with our hair and learn at each stage.
so update, I cut my hair, and I cried!lol...learning..
Rayray Thura, which texturiser did you use?
I always read that texturizers works better on short hair
Anjanette Baity next is rn
Yes that has also happened to me with texlaxing. And it only happens to the section of my hair that didn't really have a curl pattern in the first place. The ends get too straight and I cut them off. I wear wash n go on my hair but I have to twist or braid that section to develop a curl pattern that matches the rest. Other sections - most of my hair just develop a looser curl pattern from texturizing/texlaxing.
I texturized my natural hair and it came out fine I still have my natural texture but the front of my hair is stretched out more but I guess you get different results on different hair type🙂
When putting a texturizer in leave it in for like 3 to 5 min never 10 or 15 or longer cause it will have your hair straight. GIRL I HAD TO LEARN♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Did u apply it to the front first? Was ur hair n ponytail or plaited prior to application? Did u attempt to smooth ur hair n smoothed it backwards?
I knew this was coming, I texturized my hair and after 2 months I regreted it , now i shaved all my texturized hair, now i have a twa, never going back... on texturizer.
I feel you!! Not looking back.
Lol you said "shikanad" and you did not even notice
I had the same experience as u had, only that my hair was fully permed,I haven't cut mine yet,I read it takes 8 to 10 weeks to get back,m hoping my natural hair goes back to how it was,I really regret and hate my hair now...
I didn't want to texturize me hair but i was forced to and my hair is not full again 😭
I texturized my hair in 2004 when I was going off to college bc I thought there weren't any black people where I was going. So I did it and it was cute but I had to wash daily for it to look good. About a 2 years later I wanted to relax it and it wouldn't straighten. I used tcb naturals relaxer for years it didn't work tried several brands of relaxers same result. Finally tried the cheap Supreme 2 relaxers for 5$ and that straighten my hair. Didn't like that I had the same hair style for over 3 years with 1 application. vowed if I wanted to go natural im going without chemicals and have been now for about 11 years l, actually starting my locks.
Hi came across your video. Your hair looks really nice. It’s probably because it’s the first time you’ve done it with virgin hair. I don’t think you should give up. But texturzers need constant moisture s curl no drip is a really good curl activator it will work well with your short style. Or Sof n free curl activators
Appreciated. If you do put the chemical on your hair, ensure it doesn't get over processed. So, do not come it through. Thank you very much.
I was also disappointed. I really liked your natural hair.
It'll grow back :)
That's just life girl don't be too hard on your self and you look bomb af!! Thanks for always keeping it real with us.. 🖤

Girl been there done that. I would NEVER texturize my hair again!! I ended up having to do a second big chop 2 yrs ago. Forever #teamnatural
I'm with you on this!! I'm back to being natural.
Sorry to hear about your negative experience but ur right about doing as much research as you can on the products you want to use in ur hair but in my personal experience the ISO Maintamer texturizer is the bomb ive used it for 3 yrs now n I texturize once a year in the summertime when the humidity is at its worst this product has allowed my hair to grow & it helps my low porosity hair to retain moisture hopefully my comment helps and good luck to all the ladies out there on there own hair journeys✌
Kia Cohn I love this! how do you maintain your hair throughout the rest of the year without it breaking or being damaged if you do not texturize every three months but only once a year? I hope you respond. I’ve been thinking about doing this but just for summer and fall.
That's what my thirsty natural hair needs. Moisture!!!!
We all make mistakes on our hair lol.i put im a texurizer not too long ago i lost my natural curls more of the coil look.loss the thick condensity of my hair and i had mild breakage in the back of my head.talking about devasted and i am a man.i know totally can relate.i.think i did it because.trying to rush getting my loc.extensions thought it will make it grow in length lol. Felt like i wanted to cut it but still not going to.it was very tempted but choose not to.it's plenty of things you can put in your hair to fix problems.our beautiful blk hair is unique
I tend to texturize every fourth month and only put product on new growth by applying with fingers and not comb out whilst texturizer product is on hair. This method works for my..
I saw this before & did it anyway and now I regret it!! My hair is awful! I regret it so much!!! Thinking of shaving it bald

I think I over processed 🤦🏾♀️ the box said the overall time was 18 minus. So I let the texturtexturizer sit in for 18 mins. Next time I'm just going to allow it to sit for 5mins, literally.
That was including application time. Yes u did. Relaxers don't stay on that long. Oh dear u probably used super strength....
I just realised Kikuyu accent is very similar to South African accents.. .Sizulu etc. Very sweet and endearing.
Jealous i don't have a distinct one.
That's a Nairobi accent, everyone who's lived in Nairobi has it regardless of the tribe
This is not Kikuyu. Kenyans speak like this especially those in Nairobi
i regret it too sis my natural hair was better 100% but we all make mistakes xxx
Ive been texturing my hair for year's, makes styling my 4c hair manageable
Sometimes I get angry when people with very nice, long and soft hair cut their hair like you did but oh well, when young, it's best to try many things. Being too rigid is not cool like me permanently in braids.
Amen!! I was waiting for this video.
Anyway Joanna...your hair will Grow back To be the way it was before...and More beautiful!!
It will! Thanks girl, I have claimed it.

Sounds to me ur problem was not the texture riser but it was over processed.
Hello I would like to advise you, next time choose dark and lovely relaxer or Mega growth
It's has good effects on any type of hair
Nose piercing isn’t for everyone or every face.
I have 4a/4b hair which means it's super fine. I had relaxed my hair for about 2 years with BB for fine hair and even then my hair lost it's body and would become rather short and idk guys that look for when a cat has been rained on :-(.
Now I texturize my hair and it's is super long, I moved from 8 inches to 14 inches between Jul 2017 and today.
Wow! Go girl. This is great. Thanks for sharing.
Hi. Who did your texturizer? I’m hoping the people with good experiences share their hair dressers so that I can have options with a high probability of success. Thank you @Krystine Gitau
