What do you use for math right now? We've used Teaching Textbooks and Math U See (K-3rd grade).
We started homeschooling last year, October, because of covid. she came from a high ranking public school. she’s on third grade.
we tried abeka together with Mastersbooks. we finished Mastersbooks very soon(way too easy for her). Ditched out Abeka and switched to Singapore Math 3 late December. we incorporate Teaching Textbook 4 this month. So far we like the teaching method of SM and the fun/traditional math of TT.
We are in South Africa and have been homeschooling now for two years, yup we started out with the pandemic and soon realised it was calling form Our Heavenly Father to continue on. So we have been using the CAPS curriculum through a provider as well as some additional practice though another Afrikaans provider. However a year in we decided there must be something better and I started reviewing some other international curriculums. I ended up choosing CTC Math as it covered all three my kids (13, 11 and 8). However my 13 year old has not enjoyed it and it was a frustration for her. At the time of investigating I also looked at Teaching Textbooks and thus I enrolled us in the trials. Both my kids LOVED the first lesson they did! I will be switching us over to Teaching Textbooks as of next week once we start up again after our break. Looking forward to math becoming fun and exciting again!!
We use teaching textbooks. We love it!!!
We do our Math at the beginning of the day as well. We used it along with Singapore Math.
Work from home mom here! Math is my most time consuming! Have used ABeka the last 2 years but considering Teaching Textbooks this year ( entering 5th). Will also have a kindergartener to teach so need to Delegate my time a little more 😳😳😳
We use Saxon/Teaching Textbooks/Master books/ The good and the Beautiful. I have lots of learners and one of my two high schoolers are using Saxon and the other is using Teaching Textbook. My 6 grader is using Master Books and I have two littles using T&TB Math. We do math right after Bible and Thank you Journal time. It is our very first school subject of the day. It is also the subject that requires the most attention for my kiddos. I enjoy watching your videos keep up the good work.
Thank you, friend! We've never tried Saxon, but I know many parents like it! We have to do it first while their brains are sharp.
We use Abeka. I started with them in K4 and we are in 3rd grade now. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for watching! ❤️
Yes k-3gr excellent for 4 grade we switched to Saxon and so far ok.
We use teaching textbooks for 2 of my kids. My other one struggled bad with it and we use tgtb. We will continue to use those until the don't make tgtb anymore and they We will finish out the school career with tt.
I thought you were going to show the actual lesson, what he sees on his screen. I use Schormann and they have less questions to answer, my daughter doesn’t spend much time at all applying what she learned.
My 1st grader likes to do his math subject after Bible lesson since its his longest subject. He likes to get it out of the way too haha.
We just switched to BJU math. We also switched to block scheduling because my husband is teleworking 3 days a week. Only doing math when dad is around for back up is making mom happy🤣🤣
I totally get that! 😂
If he gets the practice problems wrong, does it automatically give more until he has mastered it before it moves on to the test?
Is he allowed to use a calculator with Teaching Textbooks? Also, do you have him show the work on scratch paper or only if he needs to? I'm thinking of starting Teaching Textbooks with my soon-to-be 8th grader.
I am not home schooling yet i am planning to do it the next school year , however i was thinking about eureka math ,
This is what they do at their normal school and it has an online program called zearn supported with it .
Welcome to the homeschool cub! ❤️ I haven't heard of that math curriculum before, it's new to me. But we've only used 2 different curricula for math since we started.
We have used Zearn for a few years and nobody talks about it but I love it!
We always start with math too! We're currently using Abeka Arithmetic and we love it but I'm considering switching Teaching Textbooks level 3 for next year just to lighten my load as the teacher a bit
It really helps to lighten the load for me as a mom. I need that time back!
we are using BJU for math this year and it's great but so much on me. I've been considering TT but have read that it doesn't cover as much as other programs and the kids get behind. what is your opinion on that?
thanks!
Did UA-cam remove the sound on parts of the video?
I’ve never heard of teaching textbooks so I’ll have to check it out. If you HS year round, what’s that like as far as breaks? Do you go 3 months on then a few weeks off? I plan on homeschooling year round as well. 🧡Raye
Hi Raye! We usually do 6 weeks on, 1 week off. It seems to work out pretty well.
@@mandy-maltz Oh I like that!
I'm looking for a affordable online math for my 10th grader this yr. She will be doing geometry or algebra 2. We have a meeting with the guy at our umbrella to plan things out in a Couple weeks. My question is with this online teaching textbooks....is there anything else required?? Or just paper pencil etc? No additional workbook to buy? If so this seems very affordable! I also will be looking for a online math option for my 7th grader in the coming year. Would you suggest TT for her also?? Ps I am horrible at math lol
Nothing else to buy! Maybe a calculator if you don’t have one.
@@mandy-maltz Thank you! This sounds great! Wish I'd knew about it last yr. We started out with a used set of TT books but I didn't know about the online part. Having the books alone didn't work and we changed to Lifepac grade 9 after a month or so. I plan to let both kids try the free trial to see if they like it. I am horrible at math so this would be perfect lol I appreciate your answering my questions and I've been going thru and watching your videos. This will be our 2nd yr if HS and I still have so so much to learn!
