Baradul, I might have mentioned it, but the benefit of the Streak SRMs is that if they lock on, they all hit, and if they don't lock on, they don't fire, no heat, no wasted ammo. They are devastating in those close-range fights. Far better than the machine guns - outside of the missile spread.
one build i found is a lot of fun is 2x lbx 2 BF on each side torso, 1x lbx 5 on each arm, and 2x lp laser on each arm for the direwolf. turns it into a slow ballistic turret with huge dps with the laser back up if the mission runs long without ammo resupply. such a fun build that shreds

Liam has a pilot quirk called Electronic Warfare Expert. A short explanation of what is going on in the Star League mission: The game takes place in 3050, so General Alexander Kerensky's message from 2784 is nearly 300 years old. After the Amaris civil war he resupplied at this facility, before leaving the inner sphere with the Star League army (something like 6 million people). This army eventually turned into the clans. The last operational part of star league was the communication ministry under minister Jerome Blake, who kept the HPG network (faster than light communications) running. They declared themselves neutral in the succession wars and turned into ComStar. In 2819 Blake died and after that, ComStar was turned into the religious organization that it is in 3050. So the second message from 2820 was recorded by secular members of ComStar, who opposed this change and were therefore hunted by the religious fraction of ComStar.
You asked if Medium Lasers are the best weapon. The short answer is yes. The longer answer is no. If you ignore range, Small Lasers are mathematically the best weapons when you consider heat, damage, weight and weight to cool. However, with the introduction of range, Medium Lasers become functionally the best weapons. That being said, you should probably add some LRMs, not because they are better, but because they let you shoot further and indirectly.
Depends on the hard points... if there are 12, like Nova Prime, ER SLs are often superior to the maybe 8 ER MLs you could get in with adequate cooling I´d say the ER MLs are optimal in that TW. The only exception is ER SLs, but the launcher should also be upgraded to something like LRM15/Art. for a more bombardment-oriented Mech. Not in that StarLeague-Base mission, though, for obvious reasons.
The pulse lasers in this game do very well especially compared to previous games. You should consider integrating more of them into your builds. 9 MPs on a Timber Wolf can core an Atlas in 2 alpha strikes.
That seven ER Medium laser build for the Madcat reminds me of what people used to do in the Mechwarrior IV Vengeance League where people would strip everything thing off and give it just 7 Er Large lasers. Two in each are an three in the torso. And people used to call me cheap for responding to that with a Catapult overloaded with LRM 20's and two medium lasers then just lob missiles from outside their range.😆
upgrade your salvage operations with your merits. save your merits to boost what you can salvage and then research more! you have plenty of scientists and repair techs
that new Timber is awesome ^^ tho u could also swap the LRM on one sidetorso to a 15 or 20, and take the other sidetorso with the 3 energy hardpoints... that would be sick too * ^^ *
All due respect and admiration, but you are seriously missing out on Pulse Lasers. An 8xMPL Timbie is he most fun I've had. Warhawk and Daishi are fun, but the Timber Wolf is by far my favorite mech and the Pulse Laser Boat on Ezra is SERIOUS fun! Very few engagements are much over 500m, so the cooldown and heat from ERML aren't worth it to me. But 8xMPL such damn near pinpoint damage? Ohhhhh, yes.
Embrace the beam damage :D I remember my favorite mech of all time was a MW3 Merc Sunder that used quad PPCs. I would love to see if there is a Quad PPC capable mech in this new game in order to replay the nostalgia slaughter
What was the point in that new Timberwolf Build in the beginning? Sure it has more armor but the Pilot has mostly Missile Quirk and the Missle firepower was reduced greatly in this, if you count in Artemis for less spread, it would say the missile support damage was halfed. And since Pulse Lasers do more damage in close combat the advantage of more lasers is not that huge but still need more cooling. So ists mostly an armor upgrade?^^ He should have gone for the C or D Omnipod and Add bunch of LRM5s, but maybe the slot limitation would have killed the build as LRM10s also need only 1 slot. its a shame we dont have the Legs like in MW5 Mercs for storing Ammo xD
I've noticed that the AI is pretty terrible at hitting targets at long range with projectile weapons. If the enemy is moving and is at a longer range like 700m+ they seem to miss like 95% of their shots. I noticed it especially since I decided to try an erppc only run - I've been in multiple situations where I've watched my teammates whiff over and over again. No such issues with lasers. Similar situation in mech5:mercs from what I recall, guess it didn't change much.
