    Idea: Go to the bookstore once a month and pick one book based on cover and title alone, read it that month.

    Pick a book blindly at a bookstore. This works better with a friend - though be careful if they're feeling sadistic on that day, you never know which area they'll lead you to. But it's fun ;)

    Something I like to do to "spice up my reading life" is to buy books one at a time. I frequently get bored seeing a stack of books on my shelf so going to the bookstore directly after I finish reading a book helps to keep me excited about finding new things.

    I'm actually doing one of your suggestions and am excited about it. I chose a book because the title seemed interesting to me and the spine and cover gave nothing about the story away. It's called "The Iron Ring" by Lloyd Alexander. All I know is there is a boy, girl, horse, monkey, and bird in it.

    What I like to do is switching languages of the books I read. I live in Czech republic, but it takes some time for books to be translated to czech, so I pick the new ones as soon as they are released, but I also read some in my language. One of the things that I do to spice up my reading life is I request for a book every year on Christmas party, because we have secret santas and we are able to put up our wishlist on the things we would like. Mostly, my secret santas are the ones who don't usually read books during their spare time.
    On the wishlist, it usually goes like this:
    "A book of your choice (must be a fiction novel written in English; not from a series)."
    There are times that I got even more specific, and there are also times that they give me books that come from a series--and some aren't even the first book of the series (which is very troublesome because I have to go and look for the first book/s)! But I enjoy it nonetheless. It creates diversity in my "mini library" here at home. 😌

    Fluffy: Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. So much fluff and the book will just make ya smile.
    Fruit: Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. Because I have to include a Clare book and the scene where Mark asks for a plate of strawberries is precious.
    Eyeball: The Retribution of Mara Dyer. There's this really creepy and frankly disgusting scene I'm thinking of and you'll 1000% know what I'm talking about if you read it.
    Camera: Weird association, I know, but Caraval by Stephanie Garber. It is a favorite of mine and I would love to take a picture of the beautiful setting.
    String: Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. A STRING of murders. Get it?? Haha.

    • @Ayuya2001
      @Ayuya2001 6 років тому

      Healy Gier I know which scene you're talking about with Mara Dyer but honestly the whole book was filled with grotesque and creepy scenes which I think is why I enjoyed it the least out of the trilogy. And the fact that I didn't understand why anything was happening half the time.

    Last year I did the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge and dannnnng I read way out of my comfort zone and loved it!
    Even if readers don’t do the whole challenge just looking over the prompts and going yes! I’m gonna read something that fills this cause I can.
    For me it was also a great way to record and organise my reading so I did finish the challenge - I’m not doing it this year cause i have wayyyy too much on my plate - rather I’m reading series that have been on my bookcase for waaaaaay too long or really take my interest (series and standalones) I’m also doing one readathon every two months to shake it up!
