Omg so relatable😂 WE WANT NUMBERS! WE ARE NOT THAT CLEVER!
tammy cantor yaaasss that was the one where i thought of two I JUST WENT INTO BARNES AND NOBLES AND SAID WHY DONT THESE BOOKS HAVE NUMBERS ON THEM? Lol
I REMEMBER WHEN I PICKED BOOK THREE AND I WAS LIKE WHAT IS THIS STORY ABOUT??
I agree
Me tho when he started talking about uncle rick I was like YASS I LOVE HIM
Remembered when I first wanted to buy a book from the Throne of Glass series and I got book freaking 8. UGGGGHHHH
Fun Fact: J.K. Rowling had Hermione explain how to pronounce her name to Viktor Krum in Goblet of Fire because J.K. Rowling didn't like that everyone was pronouncing Hermione's name wrong
Kaitlyn Carroll so clever of her!
Nikki Mirhosseyni They pronounced it how Jesse did when he was talking about pronouciation guides. Hermown basically.
I knew how to pronounce hermione even when I first read it even though I hadn't seen the movies
Kaitlyn Carroll I love fun facts!
that's amazing oh my god
I'd just like to see books be cheaper.
Chelsea Kerns haha same
Chelsea Kerns Especially Hardcover -.-
Chelsea Kerns I usually buy my books from ThriftBooks.com and you can get them anywhere from $3 to original price and if you spend $10 or more you get free shipping.
Chelsea Kerns I know they're so expensive
Jocelynn Robison I know hardcover is not cheap
I swear one day Jesse is going to hit his head real bad on his shelf while doing the intro
LMAO
Vincent Thrde maybe he already did 😹😹
I'm a terrible person so I'm waiting for it.
Vincent Thrde he probably already did and just cut it out. 😂😂
^ same lol
You know what's annoying
When the book changes the cover to the movie picture
Emiwee Pegan Teef yes!!! i thought i was the only one annoyed by this!!!
Same!
ehm... **John Green slowly walks away and hides behind a bush**
Yes!
Or the tv show cover. I bought city of bones and it has jace and clary from the tv show on the cover. And yea grace me with their hotness but still I want the original shit
YES TO PRONUNCIATION GUIDES. YES.
Elise Trexler especially to the mortal instruments. Honestly people usually say half of the words in the books wrong
Herondale Girl It would have been really handy for CoG (Idris, Alecante(?))
The Remnants trilogy by Lisa T. Bergen has one at the end! It's so helpful! 😂
Lindsey fromBFCG I never see the pronunciation guides at the end until after I've finished the book. There's one in Crooked Kingdom as well. Why don't publishers put them at the front of the book? I'm always scared I'm going to accidentally spoil myself by flipping to the end of a book.
teresafoo because for some it can cause spoilers as who would be important and who isn't, because you only need name pronouncements for the people who don't die.. So I guess some will see it as spoilers
**in the process of writing a novel and came here to see what people want**
lol same, did you finish yours??
😂
nunjoon me too dude
Same here lol
Same
For books that take place in a certain place I would like a map
Ghostly Demigod they had that in the shadow bone series but they still didn't have like pronunciation guide in the back so they had the italicized words in there but you had no idea what they meant coz there was no guide or at least not in my book
There is a map in all of the *Throne of Glass* and *A Court of Thorns and Roses* books. In *We Were Liars* too and it's not even a sci-fi or fantasy book.
Like in we were liars yasss
Exactly i want a marauders map
Read Tolkien then. His maps have so much detail in them.
If i find a new bookseries i don't know about, and that doesn't have a number, i always stand akwardly in the bookstore while checking goodreads to make sure that i buy the right book XD
MarieMa1907 Oh I do that too! But because there's so many options that I forgot what book I wanted in the first place😁
i was just gonna comment that lol ,i always do it in bookstore and in public libraries :"D
OMG SAME, thank heavens for the internet honestly :D
😂😂😂 - I agree with the numbering on the spines. On one or two occasions I've read ahead when I'm not supposed to. ("Just gimme a little ring-ding-ding!") 😂😂😂
numberd spines would be amazing the ammount of times i've brought a book and it's been the 4th in a series is unbelievable
Chloe Matthews my public library put Ignite Me before Unravel Me (from the Shatter Me series) and it didn't say anything about it being the third book until I flipped to the back to see the blurbs and I realized I had just read the entire "last book"
Michal Kate Castleman bad luck! that completely sucks!
i did a very silimer thing with that series and i brought the last one but thankfully i didn't read it, i now need to buy the first 2
I am good with the numbers as long as the numbers are in the same place on every book
DiegoVlogs Tell me bout it. I read a series once and it didn't have numbers on the spines.
I ended up reading in this order: 4,6,3,2,7,5,1 :|
starting this video, I did not realize how savage you would be or how much I would relate😂
same here!
ABookishTeen love ur account abookishteen!!
Ember Mendes awwwww thank you!
The moments when the books in a series aren't numbered so you have to read the blurbs to figure out which one you are meant to read next but then you read a blurb and the first line is like: 'After Bob died and they defeated the Dragon...' NOOO DON'T DO THIS TO MEEEE!!
Jackie Child it's the worst right?! I gave myself a major spoiler so many times ugh
Yesss I just did this the other day with the Trials of Apollo-series 🙈
this happened to me, my father was in a work trip and india and got me the Tyrants tomb before i had access to burning maze.
the series numbering drives me bonkers. it is not that hard to actually put a number on there ive been spoiled many times while reading backs of books to see what they are about
@Alexandria Muse That aswell. Turns me off reading that series
The first thing. YES. I don't wanna google the series order every freaking time.
Also I'd love if book with too many characters (like A Song Of Fire And Ice) would like have a character guide or something. Cause it's way too confusing for me.
All of the A Song Of Ice And Fire books do have character guides at the back, breaking it down into the different houses and who is related to who, even saying who is alive and dead at that point
Catsandcamera oh i didn't know that, mine is second hand so may be that page was ripped or something :/
Catsandcamera I also only have the first book...my bad sorry
I don't know, maybe it's a different version, all the ones I've seen do have the characters at the back, but maybe other editions don't. I just had a look at my editions, and just to give you an idea about how many characters are in it, the first book (Game of Thrones) has 19 pages of characters, the most recently released (A Dance With Dragons) has 61 pages!
Have you tried just skimming the last few pages of the book? Because it isn't right at the back, there are acknowledgements and stuff after it
it has a guide of characters. lol in a dance with dragons it's just that hugee
Omg Ebook included with the physical copy would be amazing!!
i have said this a million times lol
Yesss! That would be a dream come true!
I mean if you could scan the barcode on the physical copy and get the ebook that would be perfectttt
@@aborednerd6166,copyright
Qwerty Manova Sorry?
every fantasy or scifi MUST have a map. i can't remember which city/star is next to which lake/spacestation
Depends how big the world building is imo. I don't even have to bother remembering the disc world by terry Pratchett because he always uses the same places and doesn't get me confused at all, after all, every city has its uniqueness and they are hard to forget
Okay, so am I the only one who thought things meant like merchandise?? Cause I HAVE SO MANY THINGS I WISHED I OWNED IN REAL LIFE!
I did
As a part time librarian, I sometimes have to dig to find the series number because I understand how stressful it is when books aren't in the correct order.
I just went to the bookstore. I thought I was going in,get a book, and pay for it. Nope I was in the book store for 45 minutes looking for the perfect book 😂
Faith Anderson At least you came out with a book! I'm currently in spain, and I drove 40 minutes to visit an English bookstore and I left the store empty handed! The frustration is real!
And I spent a good 45mins - an hour in there..😅
Excetering I know! it is so frustrating to walk out from a bookstore empty handed!
Giving an ebook with the physical copy shouldn't be that big of a deal. I mean, if you buy a blue ray, most of the time you get three copies of the movie(blue ray, regular DVD, and a digital download). Books should do that too! I'd get so much more reading done that way!
YES TO THE PHYSICAL AND EBOOK THING!! There are times when I can't carry a book around or times when i forget my book and would love to have a digital copy with me. I'd love to be able to own both without having to pay full price for both
Hey you can read E-books for completely free online.
@@AB-gt6iv how
@@roromin8809 epub
@@wickedxoxo697 that's the ebook format. doesn't answer my question from 9 months ago AT ALL. you seem a little dumb
roro min first: chill lol
Also there's probably some subscription
Numbers on books are so handy for series books - so many series I've read out of order accidentally!
Totally agree with the ebook being available for free when buying physical books (lots of films do this so why can't books)
Jesse: "pronunciation guides"
me: "AMEN"
I like Jesse's videos before even watching them 🌚💕
Sarah Madan haha same here
yes omg. I have to pay $18.99 or a brand new hardcover then another $6.99 for an e-book?!? That's ridiculous.
For Good cheap books, try dollar tree! I get lots of books there and they have amazing selections 😮✨ (sometimes u have to dig through books tho)
Got a new Urban fantasy book yesterday and in the Bock is Vocabulary, the learn the the fantasy language! This is so cool! Or maps! I love maps in fantasy books!
@@reyjamclir4017 "Feenprinz" from Ray van Black, but I don't know if there is a English version of it.
I have honsetly bought so many books without realising they are to be read in order. The numbering problem is a big one!
I JUST ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND YOUR FACE you're absolutely amazing, funny, and you always cheer me up
I love how passionate he looks about these things. He is right though!! ❤️
The lunar chronicles series I was confused on too. So I went to Marissa Meyers page and she said that there wasn't really a said order to read the series in. She simply advised you read them in the way they were published (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Fairest, Winter, Stars Above.)
Omg I hate built-in bookmarks 😂 I just find them really annoying to deal with on the shelf
One time I started reading a book, got like 75 pages in and I was super confused the whole time. Turns out it was the 2nd book in the series
My Rick Riordan books don't have numbers on :(
They are usually on the spine at the very top. All the hard back original covers have them.
A number on the spine would be the most useful thing in the world. I can't even tell you how many times I've accidentally read the second book in the series first so many times
"You might want to pick up book one before you dive into this book!"-jessethereader
I'm using that
OH MY GOSH!!! In the Level Thumps series, they have two sections in the back that will list you the main characters along with what type of magical being they are with a bit of backstory and also the types of magical beings in the book and what they can do! They also have maps in them. I swear every fantasy book should have these things!
CINDER's spine in lithuanian has number on it
It does. That's helpfull
For the pronunciation guide. There is one series that actually has one of those. It is called the keepers, and it is so helpful because there are so many crazy made up names in that series.
Not even watched the video just saw the message and already liked even tho I'm currently at a family reunion. #priority
As an author, I found this SUPER helpful! Some of the things you said I'm already doing (or I'm planning to do them) but some I hadn't thought of before. Thanks, Jessie! ❤
I also want numbers for the orders on the spines! I've bought book 2 before because I didn't look up the order of the book and that is just so annoying to have to look it up when your in the bookstore to see if it's the first one.
When I read Harry Potter and everyone was complaining that I was reading too much I tried to trick them by putting a bookmark at specific page and then read but not changing the bookmark's position so I had to remember the page and through this I somehow learned to always remember the page. It has never ever happened that I forgot to remember the page and for the record I'm not reading a little amount of books!
These are like all the things I want books to have
The Familiar Series by Mark Z. Danielewski makes it VERY easy to know the order of the books, and it comes with a bookmark in the form of the ribbon on every book. And The Chronicles of Prydain series has a pronunciation guide AND maps in each book.
I agree with when buying a book you should get something for the ebook of it. :D hopefully a company sees this.
I would love to see an audio book from a bokk that was made in to a movie, where they use the actors that played the characters as voice actors. (eg. The Hunger games audio book with jeniffer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson)
Dang, I'm late... because I was reading. Books get in the way of my booktubers.
I work at a library and I totally agree that all series should have a number on the spine! Trying to shelf series is sooo annoying when you don't know what order they go in.
You should read The Land of Stories series. Their good books and they are going to be turning into a MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES, THE PRONOUNCATION GUIDE WOULD BE SO WONDERFUL!!!
Who is tempted to read a book but instead your watching Jesse
My Library puts Number on series. That's really helpful.
Really agree with the first point. :o)
In the Netherlands, the Lunar Chronicles got re-published (because the first versions got out of print) and now they are all brought in hardcover form, with a bookmark with the main couple of the book and THE NUMBER ON THE SPINE. HALLELUJAH.
Am i the only one that called Hermione hermie-one till i learned how to pronounce her name correctly?
Cobie Conger I pronounced it as her•my•oh•nee 😂
With the emphasis on oh
I did the same 😂😂😂
No not at alll
NO OMG
100% agree that numbers on the spines for books in a series and the pronunciation guides.
I totally agree on the free ebook. yES
I totally agree about having numbers on the spines or covers!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💗💗💗👍👍👍😂😂😂👏👏👏😆😆😆👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻✊🏻✊🏻🎉🎉
I love your vids Jesse, they have gotten me out of a reading slump and I can relate to some of these so much!!!!!
Amen, to the first one. When I pick up a book, the second thing I do, after reading the synopsis, is check the front pages to see if there's a list of the author's other works. Usually if the book is part of a series, it will have a list of the books that are currently released, so I can just check where the book I'm holding falls in the order. That has saved me from making a mistake on more than one occasion. Doesn't help much online, but at least if you're already online it's easier to look up more info on the book and the author.
Just came from one of your old videos haha. Great video Jesse. Edit: we have the same feels for everything you listed. I *absolutely* love full cast audiobooks.
agreed Jesse. totally agreed. especially about chronological order and the inbuilt bookmarks.
Two Jesse videos in a row #blessed
I totally agree with the physical book coming with an ebook download!! That would be so nice and convenient.
do a 24 hr readathon
The Mistborn books are super long so have summaries for the prev book in them, they also have a chart explaining the magic system, maps, and an entire index explaining terminology, nicknames, etc. I love it and I agree that the small things in books rly make a difference !
I was watching Shane Dawson, but Jesse posted..... I had no choice
Julia Grace I love Shane Dawson too! Lol.
4:40
A book series called Wings of Fire actually has a guide in the beginning to each book about the different dragon tribes, what they look like, and their abilities. As well as students/rulers/allies, along with an actual picture as a reference. Which is really nice
lol luv ya Jesse hope all your bookish wishes come true
Glow in the dark ink would be wonderful as well
I agree with the first one COMPLETELY! I’m glad someone finally said it.
Finished the vlog and came straight here😊😊 Jesse! Two videos. One day. what are you doing to me?😂😂❤❤
Yes! I totally agree with numbering books in the series. I once started a series on the second book by accident, and I didn't figure it out until half way through.
Count how many times he says "Dumbleydoor"
NONE Im so sorry i was bored
Yes! I agree with all of these, but especially on the book download if you own the physical book. I love to switch out between physical and ebook. Ebooks are just easier to read while my husband is asleep.
Jesse is the best ily
I agree with every "want" you stated! Especially the Physical book and e-book combo!! Thank you for saying all of these things out loud!
Before the movie, people pronounced (Her-my-nee) as (Her-my-own) or (Her-my-one)
I pronounced it Er-Mee-Own 😅 not the prettiest name on the planet
Yes a copy of an ebook with a physical book would be awesome!!! Just like when you buy certain DVD's they have a digital copy you can use !!! Numbers on book series is always welcome!
THE FIRST PROBLEM IS LITERALLY THE FREAKIN WORST
I 100% agree with you on the physical book/ebook thing! When you buy recently made records nowadays you usually get a coupon code that lets you download the soundtrack for free on a certain website! I feel like that's how books should be from now on tbh. You get a little card that comes with, so they could maybe put it in the book jacket, or have a little packet that comes with that the seller gives you after purchase!
....these are first world problems Jesseth
Anna Wheeler well, of course, it's about books.
yea but im asuming you've complained about slow wifi so were all in the same boat ahaha
I totally agree with you about having book series with numbers on the spine of the book.
The second one is unnecessary for me, all my books are wrinkly and creased and stained af.
Amber Daezea ew
Diy bookmarks are everything. Like, I have one for every Harry Potter book and prolly will make more
The numbers on spines is so helpful!!! I also wish all series had that! And full cast audiobooks are the best! There is one narrator who does voices very well, and that is Katherine Kellgren. But full cast adds so much depth to the characters!
OMG YESSSSSSS numbered series PLEASE! I would so much rather have numbered series than spend the time looking at copyright dates or looking at Amazon/Goodreads to remember the order!
That thing you were describing about ebooks actually happens with comics. So many people prefer reading them digitally with the guided view function and so marvel and dc usually offer a digital download if you buy the issue in print.
Maps! Fold out maps you can see while still reading! No flipping back and forth constantly to look at every new town.
YES TO FULL-CAST AUDIO BOOKS!
I completely agree with the numbered spines. It would make impromptu book-buys way easier.
I completely agree with the " built-in bookmark"..✨
I swear Rick’s books are SO good, every book has a number, and inside there’s a list of all his books he has ever wrote (ok maybe not all but PJO, HoO, TKC, Magnus Chase books and ToA are there) some even have maps! Gosh I love them
I love books that have chapter names not just numbers. And books that start a chapter with some kind of quote. Also books with art inside the book as well, like maybe a flower on page 1 and 2 and then page three has the title..
Amen to numbering series! As a librarian, trying to help people with books, this would be so helpful!
WE NEED THE DISCOUNT FOR AUDIO BOOK!!! See I always use audible but it’s also better for me to follow along while listening. So I usually do that, but then I buy TWO books and I don’t know what I am going to do when I get into college and stuff and don’t have enough money for essentials, double the cost of books, and what ever else I have to buy for my dyslexia to be able to keep up in school.
I totally agree with the ebook idea, I really need that to be a thing. It would also be real nice for traveling
So true. Feeling the reader feels right now.
YES! Series books numbered! That would be so helpful.
The soft cover books, of Falling Kingdoms are numbered of 1 and 2. Basically the first to series you just numbered FK and PJO I love those series.
I totally agree on the numbers for series and the pronunciation guides! I can't count the times I picked up a book assuming it was a stand alone, just to find out that it's part of a series!
