Agreed, re-reading a book is like eating comfort food or re-watching your favourite movies/tv shows ^_^ I also love getting the audiobook so I can re-read (in audio form) while doing other things.

YAAAAS! So agree. Specially because when I first read a book Im so focused on whats going to happen next, so I just rush through. It's good to stop and smell the roses, metaphorically. The characters flesh out, you enjoy scenes more. And it seems ultimately more satisfying than before.

I live in Greece, I mean I've always lived in Greece but any way, so my supply of English books is pretty limited and almost ALL of my reading is rereading😂😂 It's actually quite nice to do and even though I was kind of forced to do this I'm really glad I do it because I get to build a stronger relationship with each book and for example if I'm going to reread PJO for the millionth time I know what to expect, who to expect and I generally find comfort in the familiarity of it.

I never used to reread books. I also didn’t used to keep a ton of books either. But, I got to a point where I was keeping more books than I was getting rid of because I had really liked the book(s), so I just have this shelf filled with favorites and unread books. And while I still don’t keep books I didn’t love (I just don’t have space so if it’s not a 4-5 Star book it doesn’t stay) I just had tons of already read books just sitting around. So I actually decided this year that I’m going to reread a book for every 4 new books I read, which is working out well. And I’m finding that rereading my favorites is so comforting and nostalgic.

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! I’m an obsessive rereader(which causes problems for my tbr😅) but I never know how to explain why I just love rereading so much! All of my friends say things like “but you already know what’s going to happen?? Won’t you just be bored?” But the thing is, I read bc I love the story and the characters, not because of the surprises. I’m so glad to finally see another human who shares my love of rereading because as of right now none of my reader friends share it

I love to reread old favorites but haven't been able to lately because my unread books far outweighs my read books. It is very comforting sometimes to pick up a book that you've read and dive back into that world. The only book that I've reread more than twice that I can remember is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I read it first when it came out, then had plans to reread the first half before the first part of the movie and second half for the second half of the movie... well that didn't happen. It wasn't my favorite book and many of the deaths were heartbreaking but once I fell into that world again, I couldn't drag myself out until the last page. One of these days I hope to go back and revisit favorites especially if I haven't read them in a while as it will almost seem like I'm reading it for the first time!

  • @ChronicallyCurious

I'm chronically ill and when I'm having a bad day or week or month, if my illness is in a flare and I'm miserable, rereading a book is like having a conversation with a good friend you've not talked to for a while. It's so comforting. It's like going home. When I had pneumonia, I was too tired and weak to even read! I got The Chronicles of Narnia on audiobook and listened to it just staring at the ceiling. It helped me get through some really hard weeks. I was either having trouble breathing and that was scary, or I was sleepy or queasy from my medicine, and having that something familiar and comforting to lean on was endlessly helpful for me. I went through a phase where about three days a week I was having migraines, and I'd have to basically be in the dark and quiet for days on end. My mom would bring me a plate of food after turning the hall light off and I'd eat in my room, in darkness. I'd wake up and spend the time and go to sleep in darkness and in pain. The one thing I could do was listen to music or audiobooks. Being able to revisit places I loved in my mind while I was stuck in the same four dark walls was the only kind of escape possible to me. It helped me get through those times. Now, my migraines are mostly managed. Only maybe three days a month in darkness, and that's such a blessing to me! I am not going to gripe that I still have them, because they're manageable and that's all I ask! I'm still chronically ill and still in a lot of pain, dealing with iron deficiency anemia as well, so I'm not well by any means, but time has allowed me to figure out what my weapons are and how to use them to fight back and have a life of my own. Things like this, to increase my comfort level and quality of life, are key. And this channel! Being able to watch on bad days (like today) can help make me smile despite the pain and fatigue, keep things in perspective. I'm waiting for a few books from Amazon to be delivered (I got a whole series in HARDBACK for $14.99 in very good condition, so I cannot WAIT!! When will they invent teleporting already!?) so at least in the interim I can bing Jesse's videos!

As a person who forgets plots too soon, I love re-reading too! Contrary to what people think, re-reading could still be exciting because it gives you a chance to see all the little details that you've missed the first time you read a book(like you said). But it could also be scary because sometimes you re-read a book you haven't read in soooo long and you end up hating or not liking it as much as the first time

I love rereading! But in college I knew some people who never reread on principle. Like, they refused to. Others only reread if it had been long enough for them to forget the plot (which I don't understand that either; I don't forget the plot).

When I consume a piece of art for the first time, may it be a book, movie, tv, I inherently tend to focus on the plot more. But when I come back to them later, I recognize the characterization and emotional subtleties more. It makes me feel more connected to that piece of work.

I am rereading all the Percy Jackson book series, and rereading other books too because I was in a long bookslump. So that helps my mindset going in the direction I want it to go. This video got me excited to relate lol 👍

    Yes, the bad mood!
I literally was reading Dracula when going through a stressful time and didn't finish it (even though I was close) because I wanted something lighter. Yah. I guess I need to both reread it and finish it!

I really enjoy rereading books because I notice things I didn't notice the first time around. There is actually one book that I have read about fifteen or more times (Little Women) and every time I reread it I realized something I hadn't before. This is not the only case of rereading, I reread series and most of the books I like.

I love releasing because then I can catch points or hidden foreshadowing I missed. It’s like a mystery and it’s high key fun cuz then when I find those hidden points or hints it’s like a light goes off and I literally go like; “OOOOOOOHHHHHHH I UNDERSTAND NOOOWW”

I just started rereading recently. I knew it would be something I'd love since I can watch the same movies 5000000 times and never bored of them. In December, I started rereading Harry Potter, almost exactly two years after I read the series the first time and it just got me on a kick of rereading, which has been SO MUCH FUN. There was one book I enjoyed considerably less, but for the most part, I've been liking them more. I have books that I'm specifically excited to reread just to see what else I'll see in them. Now rereading is one of my favorite things.

ah yes rereading books is one of my favourite things ever!! this year i've really been focussing on allowing myself to reread more instead of restraining myself because i feel like i need to read new/unread books first/instead. about 30% of the books i've read this year have been rereads and it's making me so happy!
also, fun fact, i'll give you the sun is probably my all time fave book, but it didn't get that title until i reread it. the first time i read it, it for some reason didn't leave as big of an impact on me as it did the second time around. (i still loved it when i read it for the first time, but when i read it the second time i was so extremely emotional throughout the entire read and everything had hit home a lot harder for some reason.)

I love rereading books but sadly i don't have enough time to because there are always so many unread books and the guilt that there are so many books out there in the world i might not get to read if i reread older ones. I just reread Eleanor and park and i fell in love with the story all over again

Projecting real life issues onto a book happened to me in the infernal devices trilogy. I read the first two while going through an awful time at uni and hated them! I re-read them later after the 3rd book came out and they ended up becoming one of my favourite series

Re-reading is a great thing. There is this really comedic book for children "Sir Farts-a-lot and the Booger." This book is written for younger readers, and I read it when I was a younger reader. Now, as I am almost sixteen, I still enjoy reading that book. It brings me joy.
