She really stood her ground, not only was this a teenage girl facing an extremely powerful magician, but a teenager actress standing before the glam rock king himself David Bowie.
RIGHHHTTTT??
And his prominent todger.
David Bowie in his heyday was just! 😍
His voice was almost inhumanly beautiful. Talking, singing, it was just incredible. What a legend. RIP.
He could be an alien from another planet
I am in love with his voice, I am in love with everything about him!
Ever since the first time I laid my eyes on him in Labyrinth, to this day! He was magnificent, one of a kind! He had it all.
This movie introduced me to David Bowie's music. I never would have discovered him if not for Labyrinth.
Calm down, man. He was just an ordinary man. If you think he is God, then you are in serious trouble with your mind!
@@carlosaugustofernandesdagn7935 he didn't say that David is a God or is God
My niece who’s 15 watched this movie and now goes “forget about the baby “ I’ve succeeded as an uncle 😂
Well done 👏
I never realized how much freemasonic imagery was in it until now. Dang.
Jareth: Forget about the baby.
Me: What baby?
@@melissacooper4282 Jareth: Exactly.
Lol
Lets take a moment and acknowledge Michael Moschen. While filming Jareth the Goblin King's spinning crystal ball scenes, professional juggler Michael Moschen hid behind David Bowie, put his arm under Bowie's arm, and simultaneously manipulated 5 spheres while being essentially blind, as Michael had no way of actually seeing the spheres he juggled while filming.
oh it never occurred to me it wasn't him doing it, that's what I always picture when I picture Jareth. Tbf Bowie studied mime and all kinds of shit, would be no surprise if he were a proficient juggler. Looks absolutely flawless on screen, no inkling there's a juggler hiding in his cape
You're totally right about that! I've seen the behind the scenes bits and it was so hard for him to juggle with the crystal spheres and had to reshoot several times as he would drop them. He was absolutely brilliant!
And also, David felt bad that the juggler had to be so close to his nether regions that he put potpuri in his pants.
The poor guy looked really stress in the behind the scenes footage.
When I First saw the trailer of movie I was completely mesmerized with the spheres and was the main reason for watching this movie, being David Bowie such a powerful character.
How many girl children of the 1980s had this as their introduction to David Bowie, and developed a crush on him?
And then used it to introduce him to their own teenage daughters years later?
Guilty as charged
my mother forced me to watch this many times
No joke, I think I'm not as straight as I once thought after seeing Jareth 😶
I fell in love 😻 with David Bowie, as a teenager, in the 1970s. “Labyrinth” came out in theatres, and I fell in love with him, all over, again, as a Twenty Something.
Your experience sounds nice, too, though. Long live the Goblin King, and his Altar Ego as a Rock 🎸 Gahd, forever!!!
Traekas7! I was born 2000 and this movie left such an imprint, given my parents owned it. I work at a halloween store this year and “Magic Dance” came on and I shut down for a second
Men, women, children, we all either crushed on David Bowie or loved him unconditionally
Everyone he worked with loved him too. In one way or another.
Lol
He was crushing on children too apparently.
I felt the same about Jennifer Connelly. Specifically mid 90's Connelly when she was in her 20's. Oh man

his voice made the simplest lines sound magical.

I don’t think anyone else could have or can play Jareth the Goblin King better than David Bowie. The role was written for him and he wrote the damn songs!! An incredibly unique talent.
"You're no match for me Sarah" lol
I feel like Bowie used to say this to women all the time anyway.
😄
You have no Power over me, Goblin King!!😡😡😡😡😡
Notice how she never actually leaves her house in this movie. She appears in different areas through these dream-like transitions.
When it all ends she didn’t have to go back through the labyrinth either like they all kept saying she just woke up when the clock struck 12
That part where the goblins laugh then hide real quick when she turns around cracks me up every time. Hahahaha.
LITERALLY

David was such a good actor 😮 R.I.P LEGEND
“What’s said is said!” Great advice to keep your mouth shut
I love how David's voice suits this moment. Threatening... without raising his voice at all.
Goblin king is the only person that made those Fushigi balls look cool.
Also, the effect of the crystal ball transforming to a snake in his hand is underrated as hell.
even if he is the "bad guy" in this tale he still remains regal and charming.
I fall in love every time he says "Baby" 😍
Funny thing: Paul Bettany had a childhood crush with Jennifer Connelly after seeing her in this movie.
And Bettany is one of a small handful of actors I could see playing the Goblin King in a sequel
Who hasn't... but he got the jackpot, lsoab! 😁
ok im 18 and ive had a crush on david bowie as long as i can remember like why cant men be him
Because he is David fricken Bowie, no man can be the Goblin King but him.
@@deusvult5323 to true 😭
@@gabrielasolis2657 But one day you'll find your Goblin King don't worry ☺
I agree
I think you need to set more realistic expectations. This is the equivalent of a guy complaining that girls aren't like Jennifer Connelly.
Rest in peace Mr Henson
And David Bowie
He just YEETED that snake.
David Bowie put a lot of truth and feeling into his acting as well as his songs. That's what made him a great actor and singer. So sad hearing that the man died too soon. May he RIP.
Yeah true ❤
His voice was gold 👌🏼
Still can’t get my gold highlighter on my cheekbones to be as on point as his 😪😫😩
But nobody could ever b as on point as Bowie!!
This,,,this was my itroduction as a kid to David Bowie, I was sitting on my dads knee watching it and he appears as the Goblin King and I asked my Dad surprised "who's that?" and my dad just said to me "that is David Bowie he can do what ever he likes because he is David Bowie"🤣
I love David Bowie. I remember well the first time I saw Labyrinth when I was a kid, it became my favorite movie of all time, and it was David's awesome performance throughout that made this possible. I will miss him forever. Rest In Peace and thank you for all the memories you left us.
It's just as much an educational piece as a fantasy one; all of the puzzles and riddles and wisdom gives the film great teaching power.
can you tell me where I can read about all the underlying meanings and such?? thanks
*B A E B E*
You are the goblins king!
Jareth: b**** I might be
Sara go to your room play with toys and your costume forget about baby
Sarah: You motherf@#&$& 🤬 lol
My mind is still boggled on how a person can just casually roll a crystal around their hands
Thats not him doing it lol
fun fact! they hired a professional juggler for this to stand behind david bowie to make it look like it's his hands
Welp, I was unaware of that, but I still find it crazy how a person can have that much skill to simply roll a ball around their hands, making it look easy.
Thanks for the information though!
I remember finding an album on iTunes years ago of David Bowie narrating Sergei Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf." He actually did a really good job with it.
Loved it!
My introduction to David Bowie: this film as a kid, and then The Hearts Filthy Lesson as a teen.
David Bowie, the goblin King looks like every 80s anime villain known to man
Jareth is such a wonderfully smooth villain.
I've never been happier to share a name with the main character of a film
@Rock_Lee_The_Handsome_Devil: So, do you go by "Jen"? Or, perhaps, "Jenny"?
I’m not gay, but that man is heavenly. 💙💙💙 My second favourite film of all time.
Lucian Haywood Totally get it! David Bowie is a sexuality on his own! RIP
You're Bowiesexual. Don't worry, we all are.
I'm HELLA gay for that man
@morningstar6552: You say you're not gay, but using the word, "heavenly," gives you away. (Not to mention the heart emojis.)
The way that David Bowie says "baby" makes you want to have his.
Lol

Ok y’all, did any of you notice that the reflection of Jareth in the crystal when he first pulls it out is Jareth in the final confrontation? When he offers the crystal to Sarah in the end it has that same reflection of Jareth. Probably not intentional, but it’s definitely something I want to think about more!
Never noticed that before!
I did notice it just now....only days ago as I just rewatched the movie again.
the timing between the appearance of Bowie and the shimmering of glitter is priceless
He played that scene soo damn well Rip David bowie
I love labyrinth and David Bowie
that "floating" crystal ball is PEAK 80s nerd toys
The only thing wrong with this movie cuz it doesn't have enough Goblin King!!
This goofy ass movie gave me nightmares as a kid, but i still kept watching it over and over again for some reason. Maybe because it was just so magical for me.
I’ve always thought David Bowie did all those tricks with the crystal ball lol, one of my favourite movies 🤍
One of my favorite movies❤️
My dad took me to see Labyrinth at the cinema for my 8th birthday. Cheers dad :)
1980s at it's best, growing up on this Flight of the Navigator, and playing Nintendo near the end of the 80's was the greatest moment of my childhood, then the greatest moment of my adulthood was with 1997 Lexx 1-4 sci-fi and Sliders 1-3 For some reason these 5 things were the key elements of my nostalgia of the 80's and 90's. Non cartoons of course, that's another story. Also the fact this Labyrinth came out in 1986 November being close to Christmas just added more magic to the movie.
I've watched four movies over and over as a kid: 1. Labyrinth, 2. Willow, 3. Neverending Story (1 and 2), 4. Flight of the Navigator ;)
@@bushibayushi Oh snap same good selection there some of the best of the 80's right there
Those that truly know, know that the Goblin King never dies.
Well, he succeeded in taking the "baby" toby when he was 15(?) in a weird comic book a few years ago.
I wish I watched this movie as a kid. I just recently watched it this week due to a lot of fanfics about it in the movie list and I love it. It brings back so many nostalgic memories when I was a kid. Also, I didn't expect to see David Bowie as the Goblin King looking all handsome with that ridiculous but amazing hairstyle. It looks so fluffy! \(= ^w^=)/
Also.... DANG THAT CONTOUR ON HIS NOSE AND THE TIGHT PANTS😂🤣 I love it man but I have to say it's gotta be illegal.
According to Brian Froud they did get into a little bit of trouble but it was a deliberate choice because Jareth is figment of Sarah's imagination.
Hook + Jumanji + The Dark Crystal = This
Feel so sad that Bowie felt this film was maybe his "spinal tap" moment. His music was excellent. Within You and World Falls Down are perfectly judged and beautiful. It's a great film and people who can't see it from the complex world of a girl growing in her awareness of world, relationships, fantasies even with 300 year old goblin kings are not seeing the tale through Sarah's window, but only their own.
I would’ve been like “take me away from this ordinary world too! I hate it here!” LOL
okay i have to admit... I HAVE A CRUSH ON DAVID
Who could blame you?
I do too!!
“Forget about the baby.” My favorite line.
Such a phenomenal film. I still get chills when I watch this part in it's entirety
When he says go to you room and play with your toys makes my happy like how he says it
me too
OMG IF JARETH SHOWED UP IN MY ROOM LIKE THIS I WOULD BE ALL LIKE “ TAKE ME AWAY GORGEOUS MAN”. ♥️♥️♥️😻😻😻
Especially when he starts playing with his magic balls, lol.
I'll just ask him to take me to goblin city and listen to music lol

Omg I had such a huge crush on Bowie after this movie! 😍😍 And I'm still fascinated by what he did with that crystal ball lol
Hi KimShea22.
Forget about David Bowie because I have something very important to tell you.
I have a new feature on my iphone called "greentooth" (the successor to bluetooth) which allows people convert actual food into digital algorithms just by simply scanning the camera up and down the food.
You can then send the copied food in a digital format - like an sms text message - and if the recipient has "greentooth" installed on their iphone, they can then re-materialise the food at their end of the data connection with a simple click.
So this enables you to send food over a data connection to someone who is hungry.
Look up Apple "greentooth".
Its called wireless food and its going to be implemented on the next generation of up and coming iphones.
Search Apple wireless food.
KimShea22 well technically bowie had a stunt juggler to spice things up🌝🤷🏽♀️
@@majesticphoenix8357 lol, I didn't know that. But he did the thing himself where he rolls it back and forth over the tips of his fingers, right?
@@Nails_By_Kimberlee The contact juggling was done by a specialist called Michael Moschen who stood behind Bowie during filming. Moschen developed (and still has) quite the reputation for being an expert in contact juggling.
@@Nails_By_Kimberlee The angles look every so slightly wrong. The face shot, the hands look a bit too far away from him. The over-the-shoulder shot is easy to replicate with a wig (it could literally be anyone). No doubt there is serious skill by whoever does it though.
I fell in love with Bowie at first sight in’90 when I saw this movie I was 10 at time
When he said: oh you didn't, i don't know why It makes me laugh

I remember when i first saw the labyrinth when i was 8 years old didnt understood it much..
Or at least get a deep meaning to the movie or with jareth motives
My first impression with sarah was that she was so obnoxious and an insolent brat that complains over every petty thing..her whining was getting on my nerves ..and i criticizes her for being stupid for taunting and attempting to wish her brother away...then i pity her because i thought the lil brother was crying non stop and she was young didnt know what to do and has a short attention span(so ofc she is irresponsible)
Jareth intentions was soo confusing to when i was young
But my first impression with him..was ofc a stereotypical antagonist who was mean after he throw that snake at her for no reason.. then cheating by changing the labyrinth path and misleading traps.. manipulation... then poisoning her to a ...beautiful.. ball!?
Thats what confuses me afterwards ...you sung your feelings to her and dances with her...flirting with her... i saw the clock and his smirk i automatically assume he was trying to distract her to win toby back... and he annoyed me because he is toying with her emotions and mind to cheat (i didnt find him attractive tbh..david bowie in general... nor his singing sadly but it was something about him that was kinda irresistibly charming.. his songs was catchy and actually sweet and then he was starting to become appealing to me later in the years...he is a extraordinary unique character ...)
When jareth was singing
“Within you”
Thats when things were off logic with me because now it really seem like he tried to pour his heart to her...especially based on the lyrics
Then both the characters was annoying me
Idk whether he was still distracting so she can lose or so he can get his lover
And sarah was ignoring his request
So everything was confusing and annoying between the two
The fact this is all about her mishap wish for her brother to be quiet 🌝
Man why he want her brother so damn bad
...Well i did some research and i realize he wasnt intentionally going to really turn him to a goblin he needed a new heir eventually.. and later in years he was going to choose toby as the new heir to later make amends with sarah ♥️♥️
But eh that just declares the truth tbh his true intentions wasnt to keep toby..not only because of fae “changeling contract” with a human, he needed a heir because he know he not going to be king forever so he do have some care for his kingdom but toby is more like a second option...he desire was to find a consort and sarah was the lady in his dreams... thats why he was willing to give up everything for Sarah and do as much as “moving the stars” for her to get her to stay with him. If sarah would’ve stayed she wouldve been his queen and have new heir in the future..but that plan didn’t quite work when she rejected him and still decides to return aboveground with toby..but jareth was being alone for many years without anyone with a clear mindset he could converse or relate with or anyone that could cater to his feelings which is why he is persistent and willing to risk leaving the throne and his responsibilities to toby( because he do have some care for the kingdom and he rather have someone he trust to watch over the goblins and the labyrinth.. )
To return to sarah with a different approach
wow
For the first time i actually take a deep look on jareth’s appearance and i realized one of his eyes is dilated 😅🤦🏽♀️
