I have used the thread at 5:09 to knit scarves. Also it will go well with a variety of threads to make knotted scarves. The least I ever paid for it was at a close out sale for 1.99 per skein. The curtain clips/pins at 7:03 are great to use in a cloth lined safe to hang necklaces or even on a cloth board on the wall.
You know those bags people make that attach to walkers? I believe many are secured with straps or velcro....I wonder if the drapery hooks might be used in place of the straps or velcro?
Spraying those clear glass items or use a concrete/clay mix to make them look old like sunken treasure items. I love dishes. I really loved the decanter & the green plate. So much fun. Thanks!
I'm a junk journal maker and would love to had that bag of Rick rack and seam binding.next time pick it up and auction it off.and would love to have some crochet doilies for my journals.
Your Goodwill is fantastic. its clean and organized... What part of the country do you live? Here in Pa its hit or miss. I try to go to the ones where Rich people live...lol. The one's that r close the projects r just a garbage dump. I'm not into digging thru piles of busted stuff. That printer's drawer is GOLD!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO FIND THAT. Thanks 4 sharing... take care...b safe
the yarn is ladder yarn, only thing i seen made from it is necklaces. the curtain hangers, i have made picture hanger out of them, bend them in a tripod an place on table
The ladder yarn tends to be a bit expensive. It can be used alone, which I prefer, or with other yarns. It makes lovely, fluid scarves. But, it is a bit tricky to use at first. I use it only for knitting.
Hi, well im new to your channel. I watched you a few days ago and decided to subscribe. Love going to the thrift stores with you. I love buying bags of sewing items. I go to a thrift store that has bags of sewing items and theres other items in there too. Ive got alot of sewing items that i use and can use. There very cheep too. I found an item about 2 weeks ago in a sewing bag and didnt know what it was. I thought it was an old metal lipstick container. The old ones that were metal and got yukky. I remember them when i was a child. I passed it up a couple of times then decided to open it. Cool, it was a small sewing kit. Have you ever seen one like that? Are they vintage? They look it. The items inside had never been used. There was sewing needles, thread, a thimble, tiny scissors and a needle threader. I think thats all. It all fit just right and snug. Ive never seen anything like it. I put it ip and think i will put it in a small shadow box and hang on my wall. I love looking at sewing things in the thrift stores. Love watching your videos. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Kim. Thanks for watching 🤓 I have seen those small metal tubes with sewing supplies in them. I do think they are vintage ✅ but it’s hard to say for sure without seeing it. Thx for shopping along with me✅🤩
I remember my Mom with the Tomato and a string attached to it was something that I didn't know. Not zure if it was a strawberry. Have to say that this store looks better than the Salvation Army store. Better buys.
I scored a bag of bobbins in a trip to goodwill. I don't remember what I paid. I also scored a couple large bags of embroidery floss a couple of years ago. I had to take the thread off the bobbins but it was worth it.
Your good will has great things. The item you picked up in the craft/sewing section is called “ladder/ ribbon yarn.” It was popular in the early 2000. Typically lanyards were made with occasionally charms and stones at the end of them. Brand new they go for $8.00-$9.00 on line. The price at your G.W. seems high for me at a thrift store.
Thank you so much for clearing up what that item was… I searched the Internet and could not figure out even how to search because I didn’t even have an idea of what it was.✅ it seems sort of flimsy for a lanyard though?
Like eyelash yarn....it is flimsy. But using it as though it were crochet cotton and with several knots, chains and other crochet stitches, it’s quite lovely and in the right light the finished project looks like little jewels.
OMG where is your goodwill?!? All I ever see in mine are regular old everyday glass glasses and nasty pots and pans. We certainly don't have "sewing sections"!! At most I find a bag of yarn, but that's rare.
@@TheSewingChannel I'm in the subs of a major metropolitan city. I can't throw a rock without hitting a goodwill. And they're all bad. I guess I need to try driving out a ways...
I have a few typecase drawers. My parents were graphic artist and my dad actual had two cabinets full. To be honest, I wish I have the type more than the drawers.
Hello, I love Goodwill! My friends and I run through one when ever we are in the area. I have tons of items, very expensive items at Goodwill. My She shed sewin/craft shed is full of ,Goodwill and TX Thrift store finds you store is so much more organized than my stores. Where are you located?
Another channel with a Canadian who likes to browse through thrift stores (but not for sewing supplies) is "Coinpicker", and he finds marvelous things. I suggest checking him out to see what valuable items he comes across.
I know this isn't the correct video for this answer but when talking about yarn skeins - it is pronounced "skane" with a long a sound. You definitely have better Goodwill stores than I do here in the St louis area!

Me too! My Goodwill has changed owners and it is totally different. There’s barely a craft section anymore 🤷🏻♀️
That’s so sad
that's a good Goodwill
That is yarn that you make scrafts with it to crochet.
The jiffy grip was used by sewers who made footed pjs for kids, or slippersox to help prevent feet from sliding.
Awesome! Thx for the info!✅
Wow you have a awesome resale shop ours looks nothing like that and Lotsa goodies in it to But I Only go once a year if that
*_Yes...it's a good one! But sometimes there isn't that much.....✅_*

Hi Tracy! I have a set of bias tape thingies, but for the life of me I cant figure how to use them even after watching videos.
Sharon ...do you mean the "bias tape" maker?
@@TheSewingChannel yes
Jiffy Grip can be used when making socks or slippers to make them non-slip.
Thanks for that info! Now it makes sense.✅👍
My mother had that exact bowl of wooden fruit!
That’s a great memory 🤓💛

I would share if I could!!
It’s a type of yarn. People make loosely knitted scarves with it.
Yes we use the curtain hooks in australia
Fun shopping, and GREAT deals!! Good job Tracy!!!🤗👌
Thanks for shopping along!!💛💛💛💛
That store is nice, clean and organized. Enjoyed window shopping with you.
*_Thank you for shopping along with me 🤓✅_*
I like the way your Goodwill displays their glassware and plates. So much neater than the one in my town.
They only started doing that lately👍 maybe you’re GW will do the same soon✅

The song is i left my heart in san fransico
*_OH Thank you! It sounded like it was a bit out of tune ? ✅_*
The cable care music box plays "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."
I came here to say that.
I believe the white milk glass basket you picked up was Fenton. Probably worth about $50.

It seems like it would be tricky because it is so delicate ✅
Curtain hooks are used all the time in Australia. We need our heavy drapes to keep the heat out.

My mom had those fish in her bathroom when I was growing up!!
Nostalgic for sure!🤓👍✅
I’m from the UK the charity shops here are nothing like the big American ones. We just have little ones and I rarely see sewing supplies
Sometimes there’s not much at mine and then other times there’s a lot. It just depends. 👍
We had fish like those on our bathroom wall when I was a child 55 years ago.
Your Goodwill is so nice. Ours is just junk piled around and overpriced. I've used the drapery hangers for easels for mini canvases.
Easel is a great idea for those✅💡

I had fun watch n walking with you Goodwill Shopping. Goodwill have gotten outrageous with their prices. On Tuesday they have 25% off for us seniors.

Ladder yarn used for jewelry, vests, scarfs, It was sold at Hobby Lobby years ago. Lots of pattern to use it online
I’ve never really looked at it or heard of it before… Thanks for the info!🤓👍✅

The music box song sounded like, " I Left My Heart In San Francisco."

I didn't hear very much of it, so it could be something else.
The tune on the cable car music box is "I Left My Heart in San Francisco"
I think you’re right… Others have said that as well! Good job!✅👍🤓
Which state is this goodwill at?
I live in northeast Ohio✅
The yarn is trail ladder trellis yarn.
Thank you so much for the info!✅

Matrix yarn by bernat online $25 for 4 balls
So the bag full of them for $20 would have been a really good deal?✅
