AJ, both you and Dr. Esselstyn are two of the most well mannered, polite, civil, gracious people talking about plant based diets. I so enjoy listening to your conversations. Thank you for being such a good example in the world!
3-4 months ago I stumbled across another interview between Chef AJ and the good Doctor, and Was blown away by what I was hearing for the very first time ever. I was so intrigued that I googled both of them and started following them. My first soloexposure to the doctor was hearing him shout “no oil no oil” from the stage. I’ve been learning and practicing whole food plant-based eating since then. I thought I was healthy but was frustrated to be so plump and achy. My drive to go into our 60s medicine free keeps me following Chef AJ the doctor. Thank you!!
This was so great!Love Dr. Esselstyn. You were so great interviewing him and respectful of his knowledgeable. You let him speak without interruption and made it all about him. Sometimes interviewers want to make it about themselves and they waste time when we could be hearing from the guest.
Thank You so much for having Dr Esselstyn on your video today! I caught the replay and it is always a true pleasure to hear him speak. I went from eating a vegetarian diet to WFPBNO 3 years ago after hearing Dr Esselstyn and Anne speak at a church in a nearby town. (I live in Ohio) Life changing! I no longer have pre-diabetes, I no longer have high cholesterol, and my hypertension is in check! Thank You Dr Esselstyn ❤️
I don't know if it's just me, but I noticed something about the interview that I liked. When Dr Es was asked a question, he'd answer, and that was that. No filler, no trying to add further. Refreshing. And AJ was clued in and would go on with another question.
Thankyou Chef AJ for yet another fantastic interview. You learn something every time you hear these great men and women speak. The chewing in the mouth and the progression from nitrate to nitrite to nitric oxide in the alimentary tract... such interesting info...then the reason for vinegar with cooked greens...and the nitric oxide synthase.... so important to understand why we should do things and Dr Esselstyn puts it in such an easy way to understand... such a kind self effacing man.
Such a wonderful interview!! Loved hearing about his gold medal experience! Thank you for sharing this inspiring health information-especially the details on avoiding fluoride and benefits of greens all throughout the day!
Radhika Shaw If you keep oil out of your house (Chef AJ is also a big proponent of keeping your environment clean/safe from undesirable ingredients), it makes it much easier. You can shift your mindset to no longer see oil as “food”. When the oil isn’t an option in your kitchen, you can get creative with parchment paper (baking), veggie broth (sautéing and dressings/sauces)... Have fun with it!
Washing the dishes is much easier if you cook without oil. Personally, I don’t miss oil at all. Water-sautéed food tastes good too. I don’t have heart disease. I cut oil oil to reduce my calorie consumption to lose weight. Another side benefit is clearer skin, and non-greasy hair!
Hello how are you? i subscribed to your channel and i love your your channel its interesting and fun because i'm one that loves to cook. In school for culinary arts, i'm a undergraduate. And i also have heart disease. great topic!!
Wow, thank you! Really curious about role/risks/benefits of fluoride…I boil my greens in tap water & drink tap water & brush teeth with fluoride toothpaste. I only have two small cavities and am in my 6th decade. Hope to see in-depth discussion of fluoride on your channel. I’m in the USA and assume my urban water system tap water is fluorided. What toothpaste is recommended….baking soda is a no-no due to sodium.
Brilliant man. Great accomplishments. Sad that 4 of his Olympic teammates passed from cancer and one from heart disease. I know Dr. E became vegan after winning the gold. I’m curious what dietary lifestyle these teammates followed for the major portion of their lives and/or where they over weight closer to their passing?
I was on Keto for 2 years and had a very high cholesterol reading and my Dr said get off and go Whole Foods or I would be taking another pill daily. It took me a year to finally go vegan.
Can someone help me? Not using mouthwash is easy, non fluoride toothpaste ok as well, not doing the fluoride with the dentist ok, but not drinking fluorinated water? How can I achieve that? Here in Brazil it is law to have the drinking water fluorinated. What can I do? Can you guys mark AJ here? I'd like to speak to her! To Esselstyn as well. Need help!!
You can buy various forms of filters to remove fluoride(F) from tap water. Most expensive is reverse osmosis. Target and Walmart sell pitcher filter ZeroWater. Amazon sell Zerowater and Epic Pure water. Don't have to get all of the F out. Just get concentration of F down below the critical level that effect the Salivary Amylase activity.
Read the book. Like him is solving root problem. I'm almost completely planet based. I have ostopenia ostoarthris so I do eat non fat yogurt trying to get calcium. Vegan milks just have supplement calcium in them. I find hard to eat enough calcium on plant based... 24 c kale doesn't work for me. Older women
We have fluoride in our drinking water :-( And what about proton pump inhibitors? I guess those are out, too? And if the greens have been grown in fluoridated water, like ours have in my country, will that make it impossible to create NO in the body, too?
.......and you, Lara, won an Olympic gold medal in 1956 and were a practising surgeon for 30 years, have saved the lives of thousands of people and, in your 80s, remain committed to saving thousands more.

Amazing observation!
I'm so glad someone asked the question about clopidogrel/Plavix and greens. I wanted to know that, too, but didn't know where to begin to find out.
Thank you Chef AJ and Dr Esselstyn! I so enjoy listening to this kind man! I learn something new from him every time I watch one of his seminars!!
Love him and all his family! Wonderful personalities! Great interview!
Excellent content! I've listened to many videos of Dr Esselstyn but this interview with Q &A format contained much new info.

great conversation...thank you :)
Excellent! Thank you!
19:43 thank you. A legend
I admire you so much, Dr Esselstyn. Eradicating oil from my diet is still my biggest barrier. Is it okay to slowly decrease it?

@@NLR759 , no more wiping off greasy stoves either!
What greens should we be steaming, and any particular kind of balsamic vinegar?
Thank you...listened again to Dr. E and hear him recite them! Thanks!!
I only steam kale!
So glad you had him on. I love the family so much. Ann is so fun. They must have a blast.
Thank you very much from Switzerland
Amazing man amazing family

We love you 💯
Lol. I just got an ad for Kraft mac and cheese.
55 hours Wow 🤩 Love Dr E
If it is not advised to use fluoride toothpaste, what do you instead to brush your teeth?
How much greens 6x a day? And I assume cooked? Thank you
A handful 6x day. Very precise! But it really works. :)
You don’t have to eliminate flour if you use flour made by chick peas.

He's the best!! Smart man.
Well done.

You can drink bottled water?
@@JojoWasa57 It's fluorinated, too.

What about dandelions, they were left out ? Love to eat them.

Was the doc a vegan when in the Olympics
Not quite yet
He went vegan in 1984
hi
jack la lanne ate meats & dairy..but according to him he a te le a n cuts nlah blah .. so sadly that got him in rhe end
He's my daddy. No oil on your diet he says. The fat you eat is the fat you wear.
Sorry, but I can't use a microwave too unhealthy! Great information otherwise.
They both look horrible ... prematurely aged
Really? She is 60 and he is 87.
They look great and his mind is clearer than yours 😂
