Trying experiments multiple times is an important part of science. It tests the reproducibility of the results and confirms that indeed the observed results are a pattern and not just happenstance.
yep! was just about to comment this. i am more annoyed when an experiment DOESNT do the same thing multiple times and just assumes whatever they did worked for the reason they think it worked. its annoying in real life and in fiction. or when they change a bunch of variables at once, or clearly make no attempt to establish an effective control, or a bunch of stuff that just shows they arent interested in a particularly rigorous study. with SCP entries it bothers me less since many of them are investigative reports more than papers, and the foundation is tentatively a psuedomilitary organization rather than a purely scientific endeavor.
Even if minor changes aren't noticed or noted there's always something- the mood of the researcher, minor errors, all tiny confounding variables that mean that repeating experiments is vital to confirm findings
Though ideally your paper gains enough attention that others are also testing it. Because a phenomena verified by multiple sources in multiple places is more trustworthy for lack of a better word.
Actually repeating an experiment quite a few times, within reason on how often you do it, is a pretty good part of the scientific process and I think quite a few SCP articles do imply or even state the tests they skip over are just repeats to see if variation exists with that action and if so how much. The articles that overdo that, repeating something that results in bad outcome constantly, or imply they constantly try new thing without redoing without good cause (like those that remember D-class aren't infinite and thus death causing outcomes are avoided being repeated) are those that really have the foundation come off as not as scientific. Also I do think the stand stereotypical accent of a pirate in English does have is part Irish but its also mixed with some other stuff.
especially with something like an scp, doing a test on something even if it's identical testing, multiple times would be crucial to understanding it. something like: this lightbulb will only open a big wormhole when the sentience inside it feels like it, which coincides with days where it's raining by natural meteorological means over this one spot in Indiana. the only way you'd be able to get enough data to realize that is testing it thousands of times under the same conditions, ruling out other possibilities.
The talking crab one was an absolute delight. I was smiling so much listening, especially when you did your “Texan twang pirate” voice. I’ve probably said this before but I love your little asides and you giving your thoughts. Good time zone to you too, Jeff 😂
1:19 It's interesting that they reference spending limits here, as there's almost always a baked in assumption that the Foundation has infinite resources. I'd love a supplemental document explaining why. My pitch would be a story about _one_ Class B Personnel in the early stages of transformation blowing 100,000 USD converting a wing of Site-88 into a palace of cat towers before anyone else realized what was happening.
When looking at things scientifically, repeating the same experiment is perfectly fine if you are attempting to verify results, ie testing a new hypothesis with the information from the first results to steadily hone down the possibility of variables affecting the results. The reason we typically don’t do this in the real world is because we often are working on a base understanding of the subject matter (ie, gravity will continue to work as it normally does, therefore we don’t need to test that factor). However, when handling anomalies such as these, there are far more variables than even our base understanding of reality can encompass. Even then, considering that many scientific theories are tested, retested, revised, etc after literal thousands of experiments to even move beyond a hypothesis, subjecting less than 100 D-class is a dishearteningly small sample size. Keep on as you were Jeff, don’t let people bring you down over pedantries. ❤
Pirate voice reference for you: Jacksepticeye. You were more right than you knew when you guessed "Irish." Just watch a bunch of Jacksepticeye, and then imitate his accent, but add a little more rasp and older-tough-guy quality, and you have Pirate Speak.
Might I suggest a video on SCP-8005 - The Fool? You would likely have to dedicate an entire video to it, as it is a choose your adventure type article. If not, you can include it in a video dedicated to SCPs that are robots and mention that there's a lot more to the article.
i have heard the saying "the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over again expecting different result" but version i first heard is the same but instead of insanity its stupidity which makes more sense to me personally.
Actually, the scientific method demands repeating the same test with identical results to prove a theory. The character of Leonard from the Big Bang theory was employed doing precisely that.
I can't subscribe to the patreon due to finances, but! I will watch the video at least twice, comment, and like because that crab's pirate accent is outstanding
A typical pirate accent in english i'm fairly certain is a 'west country' accent of some kind. I believe it originated with Robert Newton, who played Long John Silver in a film adaptation of treasure island. He was from Dorset I believe.
in regards to SCP-3270 - a bit meta but its a great sort of intro SCP for partners of people who love SCP things that might not necesarily be into it to begin with but like cats. my partner loved it lol and im inclined to agree a bit with you sir
The stereotypical Hollywood pirate is based on one actor's take on the English West Country accent he heard from the dockworkers in his childhood; if you look up Disney's 1950s Treasure Island live-action movie, I believe the Wikipedia page about the actor who played Long John Silver details it. In reality, pirates from the Golden Age of Piracy would have had accents from all over England and beyond, because most of them were former British Navy sailors who'd been pressed into service against their will. (That's the origin of the term "press gang.") As for your pirate crab accent, it sounded more Cajun to me than Texan, but eh, whatevs :).
I forgot to subscribe the first time you announced this channel😅 Luckily, I thought of it again randomly so I can subscribe now and catch up on what I missed.
Wow, this is a really early moment to find a video, it isn't even at 100 views yet! Excited to watch! Edit: Especially considering the fact that I didn't even watch last week's video yet, how did I do that? Better watch it now!
The vast majority of scientific experiments will never yield the same result twice, but their differing results may still lead to the same conclusions. In fact, many experiments have to run many times because the best conclusions we can make are statistical, not deterministic.
I would love to say something interesting about this video but I'm way to exited about geting closer to the next antimemetics division video to properly function, even if I have thoughts about how body horror would made 3270 better
Hell yeah!! Honestly one of the best parts about creating the visuals is using them to infect more people with my music taste and deliver great sets to those who are already part of the cult // V
Huh. Why did the first one say no buying stuff that’s more than $30? Just an arbitrary limit on spending for cats…? 🤔(literally the dumbest nitpick of all time, I’m sure) I really liked your voices in this one!
Idk, reproducibility is vital in regards to science. If a study cann0ot be reproduced, then it is pointless. So people complaining that experiments were done multiple times don't really understand how science is done.
"I like doing silly voices."
Monkey's paw curls

You would really like the game Control it’s basically SCP if SCP was written accurately
Though ideally your paper gains enough attention that others are also testing it. Because a phenomena verified by multiple sources in multiple places is more trustworthy for lack of a better word.
I love Mississippi Pirate Crab
❤
I just burst into laughter. Southern crab is best crab.

The pirate dialect is made up of a lot of Celtic dialects it’s essentially just an easier version of English

i love the pirate crab entry so much. i would ALSO break him out of containment to become a pirate. very fun
I showed my friends who are new to scps “the scariest scp” video and they were all cracking up! Your delivery had them in stitches

the dr that broke the pirate crab out so they could be pirate friends and sail the seas together was adorable
painting that turns you into a cat,,,, let me look at it, for no reason in particular
One thing I like about your reading is that you actually talk about the entry itself in fair way
Ohhh so that's what happened to Maureen Ponderosa.
I need to find SCP-3270. I wanna be small and fuzzy!

The voices just get better and better. The visuals too! I love watching this evolve
Larry kinda sounds like RFK
11:39 I love that somebody turned "don't ruin the magic" into an SCP.
Pirate voice reference for you: Jacksepticeye. You were more right than you knew when you guessed "Irish." Just watch a bunch of Jacksepticeye, and then imitate his accent, but add a little more rasp and older-tough-guy quality, and you have Pirate Speak.
Ah yes, classic Texan pirates. Good vid though, I never knew about any of these SCPs until now

my favorites are the ones where it is funny without being outright satire of SCP the way JSCPs are. love the crab scp
Oh my god I made a mental joke of his pirate voice just being a cowboy AND THEN IT HAPPENED.
Just having some fun. Love the voices and the channel
SCP-610 "The Flesh That Hates"! Thanks for your regular videos!
jeff: *imitates pirate*
yosemite sam: you varmint
i have heard the saying "the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over again expecting different result" but version i first heard is the same but instead of insanity its stupidity which makes more sense to me personally.
I still remember when you guys made me cry with the "childhood pet island" one. here's hoping there's no tears today

Pirate crab voice was great, just like a lot of your other voices you tried, keep it coming!
Lol when you were talking about the last one: "it doesnt go OVERBOARD."
If you ever feel like doing an "apocalyptic SCPs" video, SCP 4290 would make a great addition
Babe wake up jv•scp posted
I can't subscribe to the patreon due to finances, but! I will watch the video at least twice, comment, and like because that crab's pirate accent is outstanding
The pirate voice was very much like Sawyer and not Sayid (from Lost) imo.
I really like the pirate voice you did, I felt like it did fit pretty well.
A typical pirate accent in english i'm fairly certain is a 'west country' accent of some kind. I believe it originated with Robert Newton, who played Long John Silver in a film adaptation of treasure island. He was from Dorset I believe.
I had a playlist of jvscp queued up to play after this video, but then
EGG
I love how the interviewer sounds like 🤓🤓🤓 while the guy who turned into a CAT is just normal
This is my favorite UA-camr
in regards to SCP-3270 - a bit meta but its a great sort of intro SCP for partners of people who love SCP things that might not necesarily be into it to begin with but like cats. my partner loved it lol and im inclined to agree a bit with you sir

Huh. Why did the first one say no buying stuff that’s more than $30? Just an arbitrary limit on spending for cats…? 🤔(literally the dumbest nitpick of all time, I’m sure)
I really liked your voices in this one!

I didnt think scp wiki entries were chronological?
23:09 anyone see that youtube link there? I tried putting it in the searchbar and nothing
You kinda look like Gordon Freeman

Do what you want cuz a pirate is free.

Your pirate voice reminds me more of a civil war era Confederate General more then anything lol.
