Did you try the transmission fluid first? I'm not a mechanic, but from reading manuals and blog post, I understood that the little solenoid sticks or loses signal. So the problems are related to fluid (dirty or not Toyota fluid), Electrical contact to the solenoid, or the solenoid itself. I did the fluid first and got another 3 years before the error came back (Don't drain all the fluid or do a full flush, only replace what drains out of the pan). I also tested the wiring to the solenoid and it tested good. Then I tested the solenoid and the ohm test failed so I replaced the solenoid and haven't had an issue since. From what I understand, a complete flush is not recommended. You could try draining and adding fluid, but depending on the miles and transmission fluid changes, the solenoid does go out. And replacing it is the only way to go. I should have changed my exhaust gaskets. I'm getting a P420 now and plan to check for an exhaust leak. It's probably the exhaust gaskets.
@@Squisheyy I appreciate the response. Car has 120k miles. It might be worth changing the fluid as that is $50 and it would saye a lot of time and frustration if it worked. But I have a feeling I need to replace the solenoid.
@@westparley from what I understand is that 2 things cause the error, clogged plunger on the actual solenoid and electrical connectivity. Fluid change could fix or reduce how often you get the error. But at some point, it will eventually go completely out. I did the fluid flush 3 times when code would pop weekly (for 3 years) before I decided to replace the solenoid. I didn't have any issues other that the annoying light.
@@Squisheyy ok good to know. I need it to pass smog. If the code goes away for a week that would be great, then I have more time to fix it. I just replaced the fluid. It actually looks more full now. So I may need to drain a bit. The fluid was a little dirty though. I unhooked the battery. Fingers crossed.
Good morning brother, did it fix the problem? My is300 has a rough shift, should I run the scanner?
yes sir, that fixed to for me. I would definitely scan it before tearing everything apart. A rough shift is probably something else, change the fluid if you haven't already, use Lexus Tran fluid.
@@Squisheyy mines has close to 200k but not sure if the guy before me had it changed. Will changing it ruin the transmission?
Changing it won't ruin the transmission, but it probably won't fix the rough shift if you aren't getting the code.
@@Squisheyy my scan codes gave me these P0051-P0037-P0154-P0057
uh oh, those are all O2 sensors which can cause shifting problems as the computer leans out the air fuel to compensate. skip the transmission and go straight to checking and replacing O2's
Hi so i have TOYOTA mARK X 2007 SAME CAR TO LEXUS IS250, PROBLEM, Driving in only 3 gears 1.2 and 3, does not go above that, rev are going up, When i disconnect the negative terminal of the battery it resets and the car shifts well, the problem became more common, and now removing the negative terminal does not resolve the issue, i changed transmission fluid 3 time , changes all selenoids valves and problem persist latest diagnostic code is P0761, aDVICE WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW PLEASE
Sorry to hear, it sounds like electrical wiring or connector if disconnecting the battery and reconnecting makes it go away. If you can get your hands on a whole harness to check the computer, that would be great to. It might be worth paying for a toyota tech computer diagnostic. The tech needs to have TIS Techstream or Techstream Lite and pay for the Toyota subscription to run the good shift diagnostics.
This guy has a 2 part video where he checks the solenoids on a similar problem on a LS430.
If you can find your transmission wiring diagram, it might help find if and which solenoid is bad.

@@Squisheyy so i changes Valve body new and new solunoids , problem persist , what do u think now
@@michaeldande I think it is the wiring or the connectors. Lexus is is a A960E transmission Mark X is a U660E transmission, they are not the same. you need troubleshoot an U660E transmission
@@Squisheyy dont you think there is a conent in the ecu that is defective, this car has an ecu that control engine and transmission, before this problem got worse disconnecting the battery negative side n re connecting it solged the issue, that sounds electric
Is that code the same as p2757?
It's not the same part. DTC P2757 Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Performance (Shift Solenoid Valve SLU). In the diagram it an SLU. Have you tried changing the transmission fluid first? Not a full flush, i heard a full flush could cause problems.
Please change your transmission fluid on schedule people!
It helps, but I think other things still cause them to fail. trans fluid change is every 60k
I am so confused. Which one is shift solenoid A?
Should be the one next to solenoid C towards the rear of the car, iirc
5:01 and 8:17, shift solenoid 1 is A. Good luck.
Same issue I have with my 01 IS300
@@scythez_bro You could solve your problem by replacing solenoid A.
My code is transmission speed sensor A
i have a is300 2003 also with the A650E trans. It shifts from 1 to 3rd then from 3rd to 5th. Is that the same symptom you encountered?
I didn't have that symptom. My problem was just the code. Your problem with no code sounds like a dirty or replacement Mass Air Flow sensor or restricted air flow from a dirty air filter or sticking air intake flap. Do you have a check engine light and a code?
