When you are listening to music from the 70's you are hearing some of the greatest tunes ever produced. During that decade you had rock, soul, heavy metal, disco, R&B, jazz, dance music and great ballads. So guys discover greatness.
Great reaction from two young guys that seem to really appreciate how awesome ELO is. But I can't lie, I felt so old when I realized they have no idea what a landline phone being dialed and ringing sounds like.
I just saw ELO back inOctober on what will be their last tour. Jeff Lynne is 76 years old, and still sounds as incredible as he did in the 1970’s. The minute this song started, I felt the tears coming. Absolutely one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.
"Telephone Line" is a song by English rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). It was released in May 1977. I was 10 years old at that time. Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham, England. The group's name is a pun that references both electric light and "light orchestral music", a popular style between the 1940s and 1960s. ELO was formed out of Lynne's and Wood's desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical influences. During the 1970s and 1980s, ELO released a string of top 10 albums and singles.
Jeff Lynne wrote and produced all of ELOs music. He is an incredible talent. He's currently on his final tour, and sounds just as good now as he ever did. At 76 years of age, that's pretty impressive. There are some acoustic tracks from his documentary in 2014 that are a good example. Unfortunately, the pianist from his band recently passed away. He was accompanying Jeff in the documentary.
ELO has been my favorite band since 1975 when I first heard them. The song was, "Evil Woman", and it remains today my favorite ELO song! Which is yours?
1st song I remember was "Fire on HIgh" being blasted on the Wild, Wild World of Sport Introduction in the 70's. ELO is phenomenal music. It's great to see all the old and new fans here.
@@andrewfrick5312 Hey there, Andrew, that's a common misremembrance. *"Fire On High",* was not used on ABC's, *_Wide World of Sports,_* but rather on its competitor's show, *_CBS Sports Spectacular._*
E.L,O. are one of our massive bands over here in the UK. This song was released in 1976 i was 17 years old then and every time i listen to it it takes me right back to that time great memories. love your energy for this music 👍👍
Deep rabbit hole, with this amazing band that you should go down! Banger after banger of hits from these guys with Jeff Lynne, the musical genius behind it all.
Growing up here in the UK with this music , and so so much more I feel blessed to have had some of the greatest music as the soundtrack to my life starting with the Beatles. I’ve been privileged .
The tone of the singer at the beginning was mimicking what a voice sounded like over a landline in the 1970's. As you heard, it transforms to a normal singing voice.
Love your open minded attitude. Jeff Lynn legendary leader of ELO you need to see their latest video of Telephone they are a full orchestra with fantastic lighting effects. Jeff is the singer now 76 but still a great singer. Good luck with your reactions. I’m probably your oldest fan. ❤
The first couple lines are recorded to make it sound like a voice over the telephone, but it fades into normal when she doesn't answer. There were no cell phones back in the day, so if a person wasn't home, they didn't get the call.
Good to see lads like you appreciate Jeff Lynne’s ELO music from the 70’s. Amazing singer/ songwriter, producer. A real musical genius! You should watch the live video in Wembley Stadium. Check out “Tightrope”, Mr, Blue Sky, Livin’ Thing and many more which he wrote and produced himself. I am so excited to be watching them on their last concert on July 10, 2025 in Manchester, UK.
Gentlemen, lock in on the band "Boston." The song: 'Foreplay/ Longtime.' (thats one song, but kind of 2 for the price of one). It'll blow your mind. Boston was another level. Volume to 11.

It's always fun to see the reactions of young folks to the music of this era. This reaction video was a joy to watch. Well, guys, you've cracked the door to musical genius. "Mr Blue Sky" is probably the most popular UA-cam number. "Telephone Line" is from their 6th studio album, "A New World Record." "Mr Blue Sky" from their 7th "Out Of The Blue." This rabbit hole is very large, but also very satisfying. Thanks for a pleasant experience.🤘😎❤
Jeff Lynne (who is from my home City of Birmingham, UK) is a fantastic muscian and producer. You should watch the video versions of their songs. E.L.O. have loads of great songs and sound just as good live as they do on the studio versions. My favourite song is 'All Over The World'. Jeff was also part of a super group called 'The Traveling Wilburys' alongside George Harrison (The Beatles), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dyan. Two great songs of theirs are 'End of the Line' and 'Handle With Care'
incredible group, they were way ahead of the times. everything they did was fantastic, Jeff Lynne (lead vocalist) wrote probably 95% of their music. and they have a good 50 tunes worthy of reacting too....... Mr. Lynne was still writing and touring in his 70s. I think this is his last tour in 2024, (not sure about that, could be wrong.). Jeff Lynne"s ELO....great reaction, thank you......
🌸 there's a really really good live version of this song at Wembley stadium in the UK and you get to really see the orchestra and all the light show stuff it's really good
ELO, A MUST LISTEN, tightrope, dont bring me down, do ya, livin thing, rock n roll is king, twilight, the way life is meant to be, night rider and livin thing. for a start.... thank you.......
Remember, there is SO MUCH great music out there, you don't have to compare artists to each other or rank them. Queen & ELO are both iconic, as are a bunch of other bands you'll eventually hear. The part you thought you recognized is taken from 1950s doo-wop music, so you may have just heard some other music from back then. It's a very, very popular element in much 50s music that later artists used bc it's what they grew up on.
Jeff Lynne es un genio!!! ELO es una banda preciosa... Escuchen las letras completas. Aquí no se dieron cuenta que empieza diciendo " hello". Gracias por éstas reacciones!!😊❤
There was a "super group" that was formed in the 1980's called The Traveling Wilbury's that featured some of the best singers of the time. It had Jeff Lynne form Electric Light Orchestra, Tom Petty, George Harrison from The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison. You should check them out
Of all the songs from that era, im not sure i would have picked this one. However, it is a great one. Ballad for the broken hearted. Its not cool to be so in love any more.
for more from ELO, Mr. Blue Sky, Last train to London, so many more. You can't go wrong with ELO but hold off on Concerto for a Rainy day - you won't be ready for it LOL

The live at wembley is a very nice version that shows you the size of the band (it really was an Orchestra). Imagine coordinating all of that using 70s tech. Just coordinating band practice would be a nighmare.
Telephone Line was featured in the Billy Madison movie. ELO songs are sampled in hip hop. ELO had many big hits. You should react to the long version of Mr Blue Sky, Don’t Bring Me Down, and evil Woman… and that’s just a start.

ELO's other hits include Mr. Blue Sky, Evil Woman, All Over The World, Last Train To London, Hold On Tight, Twilight, Don't Bring Me Down, Standin In The Rain and Roll Over Beethoven to name a few.
No need to argue between ELO and QUEEN boys, you can love them both! They are both top tier!☎️👑🔥🔥

It’s great to see younger generations discovering and enjoying this superb tune from a superb band. 💛
Your joy at listening to something you never heard before makes me so happy
That "electrical" sound you heard was how landline house phones sounded when they rang.
The first sounds are the sounds when the numbers were pressed to dial the phone. After that, the ringing begins.
Great reaction from two young guys that seem to really appreciate how awesome ELO is. But I can't lie, I felt so old when I realized they have no idea what a landline phone being dialed and ringing sounds like.

The singer is the legendary Jeff Lynne. He wrote, sang and produced, all of ELO's songs. There's not a bad song in the catalog!
You two make me fkn smile...so great to see and hear this...takes me back...thank you.
Rock on young men. I know you are surprised to hear the old songs when bands had real talent ❤
