  • This week Beth Roars joins up with eco printer Wild Hues to learn how to dye material with leaves and natural dyes. She learned all about the process and what makes silk ethical.

The second cloth is amazingly beautiful 🤩...I love that content about trying some crafts from professionals...It shows the amount of passion & work & technique in the joyful process, just like in music!... That's probably why it fits you so well...

What makes these videos so special is the way you approach every topic with true interest. I'm a 60 yr. old man who has never once thought about dying fabric, yet by the end of this video I was truly vested in the outcome. Keep exploring. The best life was spent seeing what is around the next corner.

Loved this. Reminds me of Jonna Jinton who workes with earth colours (litarly!) on her paintings. She has an YT channel and web site.
My grandmother dyed yarn she used when she maid rugs

Great video. I feel like I learned a lot from this one and I love the color that the logwood gave off. Also, I really noticed the higher video quality this time and that, combined with the mostly continual music bed and all of the slowed down and sped up b-roll, gave the video a nice polished documentary feel. Incidentally, there was a snare hit right after you made the Wild Hues joke that kind of functioned as a rimshot. I know it was a complete accident, but I got a big kick out if it. lol

Thanks for the feedback John. I feel like we are starting to get there with the style bit by bit. It's a real learning curve! :)

I will be very interested to hear Professor Beth explain WHY the purple happened around the snake-made-out-of-leaves.
I always love watching artists from different media collaborate!

That was interesting... Beautiful leaf patterns..
I never expected the purple to appear...
It looks really vibrant on my screen...
As to the editing and filming..
It's all becoming more polished and smoother as time is moving forward..
    Great work as always..
    Thank you Beth...

I love this! Such an amazing talent, and super Eco-friendly. As far as the different editing style difference, I thought there was something different but honestly couldn't put my finger on what it was. Still, loved the video, love your content, and always look forward to new videos from you, be it on your music channel or here on the Roar channel.

That was fascinating. I would have liked to see that purple piece dried and displayed somewhere. It felt a bit unfinished to just stop as the glorious colours were revealed.

When I was a kid there was this special paper that you can stick stuff on and the sun would change the color, so you would have a silhouette of the thing you stuck on it. I always stuck leaves on the paper.

A meta comment. I highly recommend what Beth is doing with this channel.
Expand. See new things. Do new things. Learn new things. Explore.
It could be jumping out of an airplane or it could learning how to knit. Both are as equally valid.
Try something new. Try something you've always wanted to do but never got around to it. Be curious, be open to new experiences. You might find a new passion.

When I was a child we used to play indians and cowboys, so we used Annatto to color Red our faces. Mother Nature is full of surprises.

I had an ex who taught me tie-dying, henna (both cloth and hair), and the bare-bones basics of sewing both by hand and with a machine. She really wanted to get into batik which is apparently wicked hard and complex.
A very good teacher. To this day I could do a decent job of patching jeans if push came to shove.
The trick with sewing machines is that you don't want to puncture your fingernail with the needle and bury it into your fingertip beneath by accident. That is a negative outcome, believe me.

I'm wondering if the top piece of cloth that's pulled off (sorry-forgot the term for it) can also be used. Granted it's not as vibrant, but I could see it working well someplace where a person wanted more muted colors.

i watched some of his maybe will watch whole thing later , ok. so i feel like i'm suppose to say, well 1st that lookd very colorful and all, so i choose his video for whatever reason i just for some reason feel like i'm suppose to say you have so awesome i love your personality and your so beautiful. i've thought that for long time . when i am able to watch a song you comment on i love also t so much a person can learn about singing i had no idea there was so much. i'm not much singing past many years but use to a lot. i got over 100 videos audio me singing lot of it just unrehearsed. so, yes like every time i see you on here youtube i'm like "she is so pretty" so i wanted to say that and felt like i was supose say that. there is a green thing now keeps coming up saying no internet connection. i do not need that, it happens a lot why????? why???? add so may things keep adding things keep their job maybe? i don't need the distraction of a green thing on the bottom o screen telling me no internet connection. all this was unrehearsed. i write too much maybe.

Hang on! That looks like a public park, why are they taking leaves from there? If everyone did that the trees would be stripped bare. That wasn't wild foraging!
