I was able to test the cell phone booster in the Pocono Mountains this past weekend while remote camping in Delaware State Forest. Before leaving on my trip I checked to see which direction the Verizon tower was located from my site. The booster brought my cell service up from varying 1-2 bars of LTE to 2-3 bars of 5G service depending where I was standing around camp.
Oh awesome! We absolutely need a solution for this. We’ve just kinda suffered through not having service for so many years that we’ve not invested in anything yet! We’ll have to look into this one! It’s not to pricey either!
@@buscampers yeah, we definitely don’t wanna spend the money on the Wii boost not saying it wouldn’t be worth it. It just seems like a lot!! Does it help if you don’t know where the towers are? Or do you need to know where the towers are to point in that direction?
Bars mean nothing when using boosters; as in… bars are not an indicator of quality when using boosters. You should have demonstrated speed test before and after… and even still, results are subjective to each location.
Currently $99 on your link. Definitely worth it. Last time we went camping i was concerned not having a signal, wanting to watch my house cameras in fear my damaged fence would fall and leave my property wide open (luckily it didn't fall).
The next time I got into the mountains I’ll do another test. We had zero coverage at Ricketts Glen which prompted me to look into the boosters. Idk about you but I can’t wait for cooler weather.
Tip: When it comes to the antenna itself, you can get ones like tri-antennas that look like a white tube. Basically, it's in the name, they face in multiple directions. Much better than one that just faces in one direction and needs to be faced a certain way.
The listing on amazon says 32' apart but I get what you're saying. If I was setting this up permanently I would go higher w the antenna but I need it to be able to break down and fit in the skoolie which limits me to about 16-17' on the antenna pole. I think the poles I have would get too wobbly going another 1-2 runs up. I was looking at a telescopic flag pole and possibly mounting it to the rear of the bus. Thanks for the comment.
I'm really glad i found this video. I'm in NJ, and I'm constantly camping from in my campervan in Wharton. I have been looking for a reliable cell booster. I have T-mobile, and service is really iffy out there, if any at all. Thanks for the informative video. If i see your bus around, I will come say hello.
too bad you never did a speed test without booster and then again with the booster. The amplifier could just be making it seem as if you have better signal when in actuality you have the same just its being re-broadcasted on 5G through the booster
I need to get into the mountains to test it next. Ricketts Glen was the reason I started to look into these. We had zero reception up there until we got back onto the main road down the hill.
Hello my problem is i have a security camera on property with horrible service , cam runs off cellular obviously and only has one bar at best , can i actually use this unit to increase my cell service to get better signal with my security cam ? I assume so but just want to hear it from someone with experience, thanks
I'm not an expert but I think you would need to see if the cell frequency of the camera would be compatible with the booster. Your idea makes a lot of sense. If you try it let me know if it worked for you or not.
Good question but I'm not sure. I would check out the link in the description for the booster's amazon listing and you can check out the specs there or see if someone has asked a similar question there.
Does this booster come with RG-6 coaxcel not different type coaxcel need to me the rg6 type the others are not long enough and cannot find cord anywhere
Anybody know of any that are portable under 100.00 to help with aging smarphones that your not ready to give up on yet, but suspect that weaker battery's and weaker antennas after 4 years of use make the phone more and more unreliable in it's connection?
Hello. The one I tested is on sale for $99 right now affiliate link: amzn.to/3ueAEq5 Check your phone's specs and see what band it operates on and compare it to whichever booster you're looking at. I cant speak on the battery or phone's antenna making the connection unreliable. In my experience I think the culprit was the updates to the phone which is why I never leave my phones plugged in over night now lol. Every time I updated my old Iphone the performance seemed to have taken a hit.
Interesting. I find sometimes if I turn off 5G on my Iphone and connect to 4G/LTE it's more responsive. I wonder if its a service volume thing with the providers.
yeah, i had a commenter a while back ask about the speed test and recommended an app for it. I havent been in a camping spot w crappy enough cell service to make a follow up video but it is on my to do list. Thanks for the suggestion.
When you can’t go a week without the Internet you will pay whatever price they want lol But isn’t that the purpose of camping to get away from the norm not bring them with you lol
I take mine camping but people use these in rural areas that don't have the best cell service. There's also a lot of people who work on the road that may find this useful.

It’s directional so you’ll need to have an idea of where the towers are. There’s a website called cell mapper that’s helpful.
@@buscampers sweet! Thank you for all the tips on this!! I’m going to look into it!!

What do you know it works. No cell service is such a bummer and drives me crazy. Love the ending music. 👍

So now I know why you went where you did! I'm old & don't care about connectivity 😅 but it's cool it worked! Terrific, honest review!
The place was empty. I thought at least 1 site would have been occupied.
@@buscampers the heat perhaps?
@@Forgvn.Adventures Maybe. I was thinking the end of summer and the kids are back in school.
Hello fellow Jersian, just found your channel. Good vid.....
Hey, thanks!
You have the antenna to close to the booster box they need to be 50 foot apart 20 feet high and 30 feet long for best results

Showing an actual speed test would have been more solid info.
Thats a good idea. The next time I take it out I'll give that a try.

Yup, without speed test it’s useless info.
I think im gonna order it thank you for your video
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
I think we might have to get one of those. I find myself wanting cell service more and more nowadays with having the channel.

I wonder if this would allow me to livestream in remote areas.
If you find out let me know
Nice, thorough review, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Is it weather resistant
The antenna and cable are but I don’t think the booster box is.
Were you able to stream on it?
I've streamed on my cell phone while this was in use. I've also used my cell to great a hotspot for my laptop.
Does it work with any cell carriers?
I believe it works w the major carrier towers. You’ll have to check out the listing details on Amazon for a definite answer. Thanks for watching 👍

❤thank you for this video I subscribed Awesome 😎
Thanks for the sub!
Is it free are is there a monthly fee
Good question. No fees, this just amplifies a cell signal for your phone.
How many watts was the booster pulling from the jackery?
Hello. I'll get you that information later today.
16 watts
What's the name of the song and who sang it?
Binkley is the artist. Living on the Moon is the title.

Would it work for mobile or do the signal finder apps actually work?
Not sure what you mean.
@buscampers would it work in a car or do the signal tower locater apps actually work on a phone?
@80sCrazyCatDadNGunAddiction I haven’t used the app but I don’t think this would work well while moving. I believe it’s supposed to be used stationary
My biggest concern with any booster is I need faster speeds more than anything. I need reliable speeds.
I was looking at the Tmobile home internet hack a while back but I heard that they're cracking down on people traveling with their modems.
I wonder how it does with 5G UW
How far can phone be away from
Booster, and is more then one possible?
I’m not sure exactly. I would see if there’s any info on the manufacturers website.
Thank U !
happy to help

Test up and download next
Do you have an app to recommend for the test?
