It's all about learning & having fun. I've only been to the drag strip once when I first got my Challenger, but the owner of the track rode with me and taught me some very valuable tips about my car. He didn't judge me. And he didn't even charge me admission.

Both of these cars are great. Fast, good looking, etc. But I'm a Dodge guy and I feel more comfortable driving a Challenger, after having sat in both of them and driving a Scat Pack

The Camaro is extremely uncomfortable and you can't even see out of the windshield it's angled too much the challenger is a great fun car that you can daily drive.

I bought the Camaro because the challenger felt like a truck to me. I don't really have a brand loyalty. they are not loyal to me so why would I be loyal to them. I have a Cummins truck and Camaro for a car so. the challenger rides high, rough, and doesn't feel sporty. and the Camaro was a hell of a lot faster, at least with me. I got the manual so it could just be me on the tranny. not a professional but I have been driving stick since I was like 4

My 15 scat pack manual best time is 11.66 @ 124. That is with a custom grind comp cam by modern muscle , a 90mm throttle body , kooks headers , res and muffler delete and a custom HP tuners tune by DTP racing out of Chesapeake , Virginia. 527HP and 499 ft lbs torque.

Well that has a lot to do with him blowing the tires off it. I still don't know what Dodge was thinking putting 245s/275s on a Scat. I just have a 5.7 Challenger T/A and even it can't get traction with the 245s and it's got nowhere near the power of a 6.4. That said both of these drivers need a LOT of practice. There's no realm in which a stock SS should be putting down a 14 even with a 16 year old that's never driven a car before behind the wheel.
At the start of the second run, it seemed like both drivers were doing their best not to burn out. Maybe the track was a little slick. I've seen it happen quite often.
this is why you race at the track, to see the times. if the first race would have been on the street there would have been all kinds of trash talk, when it was clearly just a bad run

For those who think the challanger is faster because it has 10 more ponies. Who cares who has more HP, these cars only rev to 6k so these races are more about torque, weight and suspension/tires over HP. These big HP numbers are to trick you into thinking your buying a super fast car. If we were revving to 8k, thats one thing (like the new shelby) But when torque beats out hp up to 5252, and you rev to 6, well i dont think hp matters at all. Its all in the traction and torque.
No, no a ScatPack has a lot more kick to it then that. I've driven one before. I'm not knocking the Chevy Camaro. Both of them are very fast cars. Who ever was driving them both, didn't do a good job performing.

The guy in the SP needs more wheel time. There at least 5 2015 SP challengers on FB BONE STOCK on stock tires who are hitting 12.1-12.0's @115mph, & 3 of them with a set of DR's (NO TUNE, NO BOLTONS, just tire) that are hitting 11.7-11.6's. That's from a 4200lb N/A Muscle Car for only $40k! That's ridiculous!!..I like the new gen6 Camro's. That new alpha platform is outstanding. 3700lbs with a 450+HP LT engine plush a well balanced chassis that can handle on track/course, well done GM. I can't wait to see the new 2017 ZL1 on the road

My scat was a handful with the stock tires and everybody I've come across has basically said the same. They have the power to do it all day but not the tires.

Respectable times from two stock cars and inexperienced drivers. Throw on some slicks, sub in two experienced drivers and a proper burnout. That'd cut those times down a little more and make it a more fun ride down the track.

The camaro ran a 12.7 at 110mph. Thats pretty good. I'm wondering how many people commenting own...or have driven a modern musclecar down the track. A 2015 beat me by a nose in my camaro...next race guess what? He blew the tires off. When Jeff Lutz gets a best of 12.3 in the auto and 12.5 in the manual 2016 Camaro ss....the average Joe isn't getting that. 12.7 is right on par.
my 2016 SS with pilot cup 2's ran 11.96 with a M6 no auto. these guys cant drive the cars.
There are a few guys posting slips of Scat Packs running in the 11's stock as well. Shows how good they can be with the right driver but most will be in the mid 12's
DTRU122283 unless the scat pack is trapping over 120 (which its not) or it was with dr, i doubt it can hit 11s stock.
The 2nd race was better for the challenger how did you launch it the 2nd time to avoid wheel spin.
If you look closely you can see a Honda Odyssey in the distance passing these drivers on a road parallel to the track.
Provided these two cars are stock, the SS is 600 lbs lighter. Should be faster not one doubt.

400lbs lighter, making less torque and horsepower and having a less smooth powerband.. the 392 Challenger is making over 400 lb-ft of torque @2000 rpm and it only goes up till 6200 rpm.... its no joke, imagine if the car was lighter... Dodge can really build an engine

These cars are actually equally matched. The only time one will dust the other is if one is experienced at driving vs the other. Put a newbie in the SS and a pro in the Scat and Scat will take the race. Put a pro in SS and newbie in Scat, SS will take it. Both are 4 seconds ish in 0-60 . Both about the same price. Neither is exponentially better than the other. Now comparing the SS to an RT would be a case where the SS os exponentially better, a 5.7 would almost have to be super charged to get up with the SS. But power to power, price to price,

Anyone looking for a real results, the SS runs the quarter in about 12.2 or 12.3, the Scat Pack in 12.4 or 12.5. 0-60 is similar as well with the Camaro at 4.0 and the Scat Pack at 4.2.

I have a 2014 5.7 charger with 150k, no issues what so ever. I also have a scat pack with 11k. Not much to say on that one.

my 16 SS ran a 12.11 1/4 bone stock with launch control. 1.86 60ft 115 mph. consistent 12.1s 12.2s on 20s

V8 662 horsepower challengers are the least appealing in my opinion. They’ve had the same look for almost 50 years. The design is boring and they look like a box on wheels. Even though the mustang and camaro look like a fish they look way better.

I am an enexperienced racer with much to learn BUT I went 12.70 on my first run in a bone stock Challenger. Yes, I spun the tires bad so there is much room for improvement. Going against the SS should be respected but not feared.
With almost a 500lb weight difference I would disagree.
Both cars need a driver mod. My rt with the 5.7 bone stock ran a 14 flat with no traction of the jump and all seasons
