Im pretty happy with my 68 Vette convertible. It's plenty fast and I can tweak the carb adjustment to make it more or less fuel efficient. That is, it has a spread bore carb and by backing off on the screw a bit, the rear larger jets wont kick in unless I press the gas harder. By turning that srew the other way, the rear jets open readily. This car has a bored 327 and is all original. It also has a lot of extras most others dont have. Being happy with what you have goes a long way. Unsure, the new ones may be tweaked with different chipsets, gearing, or other internals that aren’t as obvious as what the older vehicles have. I’d still take an older model over a new one though.
@@timm1139Doubt it, most of the new cars were running slower times then what they're capable of.
Lol, these aren't old muscle cars. They're friggin drag cars....
And i bet they have modern build engines
With ecu and direct injection and methanol
Orange C8 Corvette is the only one I heard actually using launch control. That is worth 4 tenths easily.
I’ve had a 66 GTO,a built Dodge Demon 340, 55 Merc convertible wish overdrive, a 2007 Shelby GT 500, and a 77 Rally Nova with Blue Print Motors 383. That’s America !
I thoroughly enjoyed this ❤️
Maybe it's just me. The Old School Vette(white) looks soooo much better than what Chevy is forcing on the public today. Corvette's used to be so special growing up as a kid you dreamed of owning your own. These of today IMO they can KEEP them. Give me Old School all day.
I'm 66 and still dream of owning a vette
The new cars you can drive home. Most of those old cars aren't street legal. Like an outlaw class.
that first ss, was chef’s kiss.
I like the classic cars.
This makes me proud! Smiling 😊
I grew up with the muscle cars of the 50s, 60s and 70s and loved them. The big difference is the "Old School" cars here is they are highly modified and not at all reliable for daily driving. The "New School" cars will turn 10-11 quarters off the showroom floor and get you highway mileage close to that of a 60's VW Beetle.
Built not bought and thats so satisfying.
All these matches are to enjoy. Nice video
No school like old school!
These old classic muscle cars just look so much nicer than the modern ones
Built over bought, dunno why so many new Dodges though...unless they are supercharged-Heavy..and then there is that "I forgot to take traction control off"..lol. Very nice camera work!
I had a '71 Charger SE 500. Just stock. But next to my current '95 Buick Roadmaster it was the nicest driving car I've ever owned.
Them little Nova's whew, I guess built right or they are just a good balance weight and size balance, tough! 4:14 What did the Ant Hill Mob Show up with Bullitt Proof Bomb from Wacky Races? ha ha ha! Great Vid thanks!
in high school my friend had a white nova , we called it the rocket . only one other car put him away . tom's boss mustang . the king went down .
This is at Mission Raceway Park Mission BC Canada. I've ran a few friday night streets up there for fun with my 68 Barracuda...lots of fun, great people.
01:27 You need to learn how to shift gears before you enter a race
That Challenger had an auto trans. I think the issue was tire spin which is way too common with Hellcats.

Too bad awd are not made available for it.
I never thought I'd see a day when modern car's HP surpassed, and doubled, old vintage hot rods back in the day. I did.
Anyone can go buy a fast car, it's when you build your own car, is what makes it worth it.
Oh please, how many people actually build their own cars? Which would be buying a POS, gutting it, installing a roll cage, back halving it, building the engine, transmission rearend etc etc etc. 99.999% of the people with "old cars" that are actually fast have them built (and in the long run probably spend more money than if they just bought a new car)!
@@dundonrl I agree with your post i remember working at a scrap/junk yard back in the 60s and 70s and you could actually build a nice street or track rod with just the factory parts that were available there, and this included finding a great body, nowadays most of those parts are almost impossible to find and even if you are lucky enough to find them you are going to pay big $$. I feel blessed that i got to lived and experience those days. Hot rods and Drive in movies with my favorite gal.
Not everyone has a garage, several grand worth of tools, the know-how or resources to build their own. I'm 60 and love old school muscle cars - but I own/drive a modern fast car since I don't have the resources, time or space to build one.
Wow, beautiful Nova. 😍
Thanks ,good video 😊I would love to see the price tags too
Love old school! At 66, I always will. Respect to the new cars but checkwriters don't impress me, builders do.
Sounds like 8mile on a Friday, and Saturday night. 😂
Old school cars 🔥
Damn that charger surprised me!
5:16 Please tell me what this car is called?
Camero I think
That is a ss Camaro with a hood scoop so the engine can get more air and trust me me this is coming from an 11 year old car expert
@@DanaSquires Very interesting. I looked at what this car looks like and the original ss Camaro's rear end is not as rounded as this model. Maybe it's a different car or is the rear end also custom?
@@DanaSquires The exact model name is 1971 Camaro RS SS 396. Thanks for the tip.
I love that old school beats the new!
I don't really want any other car though I regret not buying a mint Malibu SS convertible for $4000, a blue 66 Cobra with an additional unused engine that had matching numbers for $20000...and a measly black 12 cylinder 1968 Ferrari for $10000 when i had the chance.
I've been to this Raceway. It's the Mission Raceway in BC Canada. It was really fun.
Love the chevelle ss 396 and 454 and I’m talking about 1966 and 1967 and the 1970 O.M.G?!!!! And the roadrunners and GTX and 1969 charger and Camaros , and NOVA never really liked corvettes. And no fords, I don’t like today’s automobiles….. I still have my 77 road runner ….not for sale either. It’s for my grand son or granddaughter…….
Now them old schools are showing out
Gotta love classic muscle cars
wow, very impressive. would take the ss any day of the week
We had the baddest azzed cars, music, and girls in the 70s. And us old dudes and girls STILL are 😁
Buddy of mine crammed a 383 big bore into a Dodge Dart , so much engine , so little car. Crazy times running that thing down Union Rd.
Surprised you didn't get pulled over by Cheektowaga cops
Satisfying video, thank you
Thank you
Grandmas Novas are incredible. Love em, even tho in the 60s and 70s you would have been laughed at. Ive had several, poor mans muscle cars, nothing fast, my best time in my 70 was 11.04.
That’s nothing to scoff at! If you kept it unassuming, it would raise hell from stop light to stop light as a sleeper.
@dieseldemon8562 it took me a long time to get to 11, it was a great street car, I had various big blocks in it, but ran my best qt with a hot 383 and a power glide.
For the most part, the old cars kicked butt and I think much is driver experience and car setup. But that one purple dodge or whatever at 3:20…… wow, sweet whine to start and finished at 136mph wow!
Wait until that Nova has to turn or slow down or stop. And by the way, make it a stock Nova. What a joke.
Old doesn't always mean slow.
Ahhhh the good ol days…I can smell the dinosaurs from here. Had a 68 Barracuda Formula S Fastback big block 383 4 speed…was my first car…$500. Good times
Due to the fact that I blew the motor (spun all the main bearings) and never got an official ET, I would still put my old Buick 455 against an of those cars. Buick 455 engine, blue printed, ported and polished, full race Isky cam, twelve and a half to one Jahn's pistons on forged rods, two Holley 750 CFM carbs (the good ones all we drag racers used), Hooker Headers. Connected through an aluminum flywheel, to a Muncie transmission (that was real chore to do).
