Historic Martin’s Station is an outdoor living history museum at Wilderness Road State Park in beautiful Lee County, Virginia. The Station features the most authentic reconstructed frontier fort in America. Virginia’s frontier comes alive here as costumed interpreters demonstrate life in Colonial America. Historic Martin’s Station is a special place where you can directly experience history first-hand. It is a place where you can reach out and touch history, and where history can touch you. A visit here can never be forgotten.

It’s about not forgetting those who came before us and knowing where we came from. It’s a way to connect. Could be as simple as staring a fire with flint and steel or taking game with an authentic arm. Whatever. By the way, your cinematography is really getting good. Outstanding camera work and music.

I belong to two different clubs. One of our members is a great great (not sure how many) grandson of Martin. He has been president of both of both Kit Carson Mountain Men and of American River Muzzle-loaders. They also participate as sutlers at most of our events. Close friends, and glad to know them.

The best way to encourage a new generation is to ..well encourage. The oh mighty youtube algorithm sent me to a young gentleman from the south doing historic hunting but from a southern standpoint. It is a new channel but the enthusiasm is their. Got to Along the Wolfs Trail and see.

As a descendant of Joseph Martin and his brother John, I can’t wait to attend an event (s) there. To walk where they have walked.
I’m a CW reenactor, at mainstream events I assist when I can, as an Authentic Campaigner. Now delving in the 18th century. Living history is vital, to pass on our nations history from ALL points of view.
I’m in California, near the Sierras, out of place for both era’s, yet we do our best. I’m taking my 7 year old grandson with me this year on his first 18C primitive hunting trip. Myself and two buddies will gear up “Longhunter” or “scout” style and spend a weekend up in the mountains. We can’t wait to run into F&G!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

To answer your question (or pondering) about how to grow living history participation… from an outsider prospective, I love muzzleloading, but I have no idea where to start with the living history stuff. I am an avid muzzleloader and history buff, with a lot of the gear, and live in Texas. I have attended a few events and, even though I am very outgoing, I have always felt like an outsider. The folks in the events seem to be somewhat internally focused and not that interested in welcoming newcomers… so that’s an issue. Secondly, the online information is very disjointed. There doesn’t seem to be an easily understandable place to go and find out what events are happening, what the events are all about and how to become involved or even attend the event. If I’m going to travel 18 hours to get to an event ( which I am prepared to do) I sure would like more information before I get on the road. Concise and detailed information in an easy to understand format would go a long way toward growing the involvement of new people like me.

Hey, first comment! The music is wonderful. I need to get out there one year. I'm in Virginia, but that's about an eight-hour drive. I could be in NYC in the same amount of time. Much rather be at Martin's Station though. Nice video!
