I'm 76, not going to make any events most likely, but I applaud what you are doing and enjoyed this video tremendously. I could almost smell the wood smoke. Beautiful countryside. Thanks.

I echo Deblee's thoughts here. Ethan, be happy that you are young and healthy enough to do this. I enjoyed this video experience.

Superb Ethan. I am older (71) and have not been to a gathering in a long time. This reminds me how dang good it feels to be part of something biger then all of us. Seeing families out there warms the heart. A tip of the tricorn hat sir. well done. well done.

Ah, but aren't we all a little weird? Historical re-enactment is a great way to learn history, campcraft, and have some real fun.

Your cinematography at the encampment was second to none. As to being weird, everyone is strange but me and thee!

Great video Ethan! I love the early mornings, before it gets completely awake for the day, you can have a moment where you forget it s isn't 1760's or whenever you want it to be lol. Like the format of the video! Also a tip getting started, you don't need everything to enjoy the camp, get what your budget allows,1 or 2 pieces at rendezvous, so you have guidance.

I used to take my four kids on outings quite a bit, Friendship was the highlight of the year for them. They still talk about it. Oh and I did it as a single parent. It's doable.

Ethan, thank you for your work. You do more for the sport hobby, whatever you call it. This is a way of life for some of us. And we do need to get the word out to the public. We welcome all and do share both history and the love country. Thank you for bringing the little one and your wife along. Keep up the good work 😊😊😊

I have no problem going out of camp dressed in period clothing, it is a chance to advertise what You are doing, most people who are right around the event do not know about it. It feels good to have people come up & introduce their family that they came with. Thank You Ethan for all You do. The student is becoming the teacher...

Welcome to the hobby. I've been reenacting a few periods for about 25 years now and I've recently gotten more serious about the 18th century and back country frontiersy things. Thanks for showing me how easy it is to put together a Kibler kit. I shot my first woods walk with it two weeks ago and I'm hooked.

I've been waiting for this video since i saw your pictures earlier in yhe summer. I've gained a love for black powder over the past couple years, and ive always loved primitive camping and history. I can't imagine combining them would be anything but fun. I think I'd enjoy a trip like this, none of my girls would though unfortunately, i can't even get them to rough it in a cabin or car camping

Don't know how I missed you. I was camped on "the Hill" just before the slope down to the settler/presenter area. You can see me in Anthony's (Deerskin Diaries) in the red hunting shirt. Hope to meet you at a future event. John Norkus

    Ethan,
This was a nice video, however by the thumbnail I was hoping to see a video on what non reenactors thoughts on reenactors and reenactments are and whether they think they are weird. Maybe some interviews with visitors and interviews with reenactors on their experiences with the public on this topic and the comments they've heard. I think a lot of myths about this hobby could be dispelled with such a look. Thanks for the work.

    • @ILoveMuzzleloading

Intrigued by your eyewear. Could you please tell us about it? I wear prescription glasses & I’ll to have to find a solution to be able to see while portraying a period correct character. Thanks!

You might try Historic Eyewear Company. I don’t think they sell prescription lenses, but they do have several choices of powers for reading glasses. If you check them out, please tell them that Peggy from Civil War News Magazine referred you.

Try some eighteenth century preserved food. You won’t have to have ice
