I never heard of this gentleman before he is jazz and classical together what a great combination I give this piece a 10+ excellent musician playing with him.
Ahmad Jamal’s live performance of One is nothing short of legendary, a breathtaking display of his unmatched artistry and profound influence on the world of jazz. Watching this UA-cam video in HD feels like stepping into the room with a master at work, where every note is imbued with intention, precision, and soul. Jamal's signature style-marked by his subtle touch, remarkable use of space, and dynamic control-is on full display here. Right from the opening notes, he draws the listener in with a delicate yet commanding presence at the piano. His playing in One is a masterclass in how to build tension and release it with extraordinary grace, balancing rich harmonic textures with moments of surprising simplicity. What truly sets this performance apart is Jamal's ability to communicate emotion through restraint. He doesn't overwhelm with flashy runs; instead, he lets the music breathe, giving each chord and melody room to resonate fully. The pauses between phrases are just as impactful as the notes themselves, creating a sense of anticipation that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Jamal’s interplay with his band is seamless. The rhythm section, featuring stellar bass and drums, locks into his grooves with unwavering support, responding to his every cue with finesse. You can feel the deep connection between the musicians as they explore the intricacies of Jamal’s arrangement, weaving together a sonic tapestry that’s as vibrant as it is refined. In One, Ahmad Jamal reminds us why he’s a true giant of jazz. His ability to transform a live performance into an intimate, transcendent experience is unparalleled. This video captures a moment in time where brilliance and emotion converge, leaving a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to witness it. Simply put, it’s a masterpiece. www.candiano.com
He don't play piano for making harmony but practicing rhytmmic with other musicians. That's his genius,Jamal was a king of improvisation. Just the pleasure to listening.
Ahmad has been around since the late 50's when I first discovered this genius on the keys, reinventing himself with every performance!! Always unique and an inspiration to keep outdoing and growing as he says 'learn something new every day'....this guy is SO TALENTED and NEVER REPEATS himself...absolutely brilliant!
YES! And Major Props to whoever recorded this! The Bass is right upfront where it belongs. (If you're not plugged in to a system with a subwoofer, get one.)
Ahmad Jamal....a gifted & talented artist! I love his music and will listen it for the rest of my life. Rest in Peace and thank you for all of the joy, love, hope, warmth and serenity your music has brought to me and millions around the world🎹🎼🎶🎵♥🤍💛💙💚💜🧡
BRAVO!!! Ahmad Jamal is one of the greatest piano virtuoso's of the 20th century. And this quartet achieves a very high level of improvisational instrumental collaboration. Bravo!!!
ahah ah same here about Ahmal but i was a bit older - one of Miles Davis favorite piano player - also because Ahmad never stayed stucked on old jazz music which still remains amazing music after all.
My first intro. To Ahmad was in a small venue in Denver, CO. A small club on Colfax. This was in late 60's ..my college years. It started my journey of wonderful jazz.
I wish I had timing down so well, I could literally just watch the bass player play like "Damn, he's pretty good" and just jump right back into the song like it was effortless. Crazy Talent.
I listen with great pleasure to his impressive piano art. It is an honor for me to listen to all his music. It makes me feel like many Jazz pianists to Honor their Artwork. Thank you for sharing my friend. I hope to hear more from this pianist and others that I like.
...in a language I would only use among friends; I here lightly say... void of how I like to describe things...WOW..This is a SUPER composition and video capture
C'est vrai,si l'on n'aime pas ce thème,il ne faut pas insister à écouter du jazz. C'est à la fois très accéssible et en même temps d'une incroyable virtuosité rythmique.
Sure am glad my mom instilled in me a love of jazz, this is really tasty and has a bit of a Latin groove with Manolo, remember him from Weather Report back in the '70s ???
O pianista Ahmad Jamal consegue não só alegrar o auditório de fãs, mas a satisfação de seus músicos está estampada na fisionomia deles. E isso é de suma importância por são um "time" de craques e do Jazz. Confratulations.
Had the great fortune of seeing this particular group at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Az., on 09/23/11 and this video reaffirmed my memories of their show!!

Read recently that Miles Davis wanted to work with Ahmad Jamal, to better understand spacing, Have listened to a lot from both. I get it. Both benefitted.
The tumbas are Latin Percussion Giovanni Hidalgo Galaxy tumbas. It is hard to tell which sizes he has, but it looks and sounds as if he has the requinto and quinto. (Usually, if a player has two, they are quinto and conga.) I have all four that they make in this range: requinto, quinto, conga and tumbadora. LP stuff is great. Odd, perhaps, because I am mainly a reed player.
The Album Ahmad Jamal with Voices was the first I heard of him.I was a teenager…I’m 74 now still loving it!!!
I never heard of this gentleman before he is jazz and classical together what a great combination I give this piece a 10+ excellent musician playing with him.
Years ago I took care of his 2 Concert Grands. He lives around the corner from my shop in Taconic Ct. He's a wonderful Musician.

We saw Ahmad perform at Baker's Keyboard Lounge in Detroit--late 60s, early 70s. In 2014, he was still the coolest of cats.
If we ever reasoned and talked about music as such .. This is music
