5:45 she just throws in my favorite things in in that insane tempo... Genius
Was wondering if anyone else caught that.
@@hnoerdli Of course, we did indeed caught that one. Now, I'm wondering if you caught the part she threw some amazing Cuban style music.
Though less common today, quoting familiar melodies goes way back, particularly to bebop.
RIGHTTTTTTT
If I could play like this, I would not stop smiling.
Me too😂😂🤣🤣
THEN PRACTICE "40 HOURS"

She always puts a smile in my face
I just tried imaging that, and it was WOW!!
I’m coming after watched animated movie called Blue giant,Hiromi as the piano player is the best part of the movie! ❤
Where can we watch it?
@@souravsuresh2766 I watched it on Apple TV
same i had known of her a bit before but never took major interest up until that movie, definitely one of the most beautiful animated films
She looks so happy when she is playin and its just adorable.
Ikr. And the way she stares on camera, while playing. So much fire in those eyes 😍
Euphoria of harmony.
absolutely ... and that's why she loves it

3 absolute masters. but don't forget, it's Hiromi's composition. wow
Like this is one of those songs that is so good that I'm scared of it. Literal chills every time. The start of the piano solo with that hand percussion transports me to another world! To think that she recorded/wrote it in her early 20s is mind boggling. Let's not forget that incredible drum solo. Bravo!
I love the tonality of that solo, with the percussion it sounds like something Shostakovich would write.
I feel the same
@@valerieplushie1031 I'm curious, is that a known style of snare playing (not to say it's common, but known)? I wonder if she had to explain it to him, if he gave her the idea, or if he improv'd it!
@@TheUnderscore_I think it's quite an uncommon technique (if you mean the pitch bending!), haven't really seen anyone use it in this way. the snare drum in the solo is so good though, I love the amount of sound qualities that he's pulling out of it, it's incredible
You saved my time, friend!
I never get tired of this...3 music giants having the time of their lives. Hiromi's smile is next to the word "joy" in the dictionary.
So true
Absolutely!
Music "giants" sure, the drummer can't put an off beat accent for the life of him... Nate Smith is a giant for comparison.

Steve Smith's playing is out of this world
Saw him in person once. What he can do with one hand, on one drum, is incredible.
He's an absolute beast!
Met him once and he sadly made a terrible impression as a human being... I still hope he just had a bad day.
@@MikeHoltackers first person I've seen speak negatively about meeting a musician. How was his attitude towards you? could you please tell if you dont mind
@@MikeHoltackers We can't all be perfect like you, Mike.
This is why it's called PLAYING an instrument, and not WORKING. Everyone's having so much fun.
to be fair, it is a lot of work to became this good
I don’t think I could ever work my way up to Hiromi’s level. Too talented.
Hiromis expressions from 1:32 - 1:39 always have me coming back to this video. Her enthusiasm is so infectious.
Sequence at 6:48 where she mashes the piano sounds perfect!! It was all controlled, unbelievable!
Anthony Jackson is a beast!!! A Legend! What a perfect combo this trío is.
1000%
Only with Hiromi!
Anthony Jackson is a fantastic human also, they play music so 👌 perfectly together, all Genious in their right!
Beast? Hes a Legend! He played Bass for all famous musicians, bands, for all the world. Madonna to Milton Nascimento! 🔥
He's a genius at playing appropriately under all circumstances.
Absolutely wild.
Beyond the insane level of musicianship on display, the production values of this session are exquisite. The video captures the performance perfectly. The warm tones, the art, the live audience, Hiromi’s magnificently joyful face framed by the hat cymbals during the drum solo, the hands on the instruments…they captured it all.
Steve Smith is so legendary, this performance is ridiculously good... What a trio !!!
The happiest most joy filled performance I've ever seen. They truly feel one with the music. They look like they live for this stuff.
I met her a long time when she was just a sideman playing a small club here in town and she truly is every bit as adorable as you think she must be from seeing her here.
What planet is she from? Is everybody on that planet that happy?
They do. You don’t get that good without it being everything in your life.
@@kalemdoucette1882 Well, some people live for the instrument, not the music they make. She definitely lives for the music and uses the instrument as, well, an instrument.
The way she plays, it’s like she’s constantly rediscovering the piano - Hiromi is VERVE
Anthony Jackson what a great bass player
I have no idea how many times i watched this performance still gives me goosebumps
Holy Molly... what an all-round amazing pianist. Such a magnetic (musical) stage presence - herself and the other 2 musicians. I heard them for the first time today, and I can't seem to put down my phone until the full piece is over... it's video after video after video....
How do they dare to put commercials during this great performance
She's one of those human beings I'm grateful I lived to know her.
9:36 Hiromi considering whether an ambulance is needed
The way these musicians interact is on another level and Hiromi is just extraordinary - and shows so much joy in playing. We are privileged to be witness to such talent.
Olympic's opening ceremony brought me here. I'm now hooked for life. She's awesome. 💖🌹❤️
welcome to hiromi world!!
This song reminds me of a 13 minute long sprint. Not only jaw dropping musicianship, but the endurance required for not only this song, but putting on a whole concert is quite literally insane!
Oh god the way she smiles. 😍😍😍
She's an all around awesome human :)
I’m jealous of her, because she could be present in every Hiromi gig, but I couldn’t. ;) :)
I agree it's not fair :(
Surgery man
1:33 The way she smiles at the camera....... she looks really happy 👍👍
In her high-energy pieces such as this one, she doesn't just end the song - she sticks the dismount.
Heyyoo I was the FOH enginer for that tour 🔊🔊
terrific job, thank you
Great man. Congrats!!!
bruvvvv amazing!
Dude, you are awesome!
Very cool!
Just watched the opening ceremony and fell in love immediately. The passion is awe-inspiring. From a new lifelong fan in the UK. Hiromi. Wow.
The same to me, here from Brazil!!! She is amazing!
DItto from Canada :)
Welcome to the show:p
Yes, She is the music.
You must get her incredible concerts on dvd.
Does anyone notice the "My favourite things" reference? Hiromi is a beast, as always
this reference was so obvious tho
"Reference"? She played it straight through for a bar.
Yes, i did.
yes!
It looks more like an arrangement
I've listened to this track about a dozen times straight. Still haven't located my jaw after it dropped to the floor on the first listen. I want to play guitar like she plays piano lol
The same for me. But I think I 'll have to purchase a new pair of hands first before I try this on guitar.
What a breath of fresh air to hear her play! What a Great sound! Nothing more to say!!!!!
That is a monster of a drum solo!
The group is incredible.
The pianist is one of the great Japanese pianists. The players listen to each other.
Absolutely brilliant all around. But that drum solo!! Mind blowing 😮😮
Helt fantastiskt.
Quelle virtuose et quel génie musical, wouaouh, et quel magnifique trio !

Fella is going absolutely galactically crazy on that bass
It's so refreshing to see someone who can produce sooo much talent and and display an equal amount of childlike enjoymemt at the same time and the shoes say it all...
I can't help but smile when I see the performer is enjoying what they do
Fantastic Trio... The Performance is out of this World!!!
She's an absolute goddess of music. Been a huge fan of her for years and whenever I listen or see her play, it brings such immense joy! With Mr. Jackson and Mr. Smith, they really make the perfect insane trio! I love them so much! 🥰💕🎶
Hiromi's music have been such a big inspiration and helped me go through so much in life, I'm so grateful. 💕
Hiromi is child of music. Of course as you know, they all are genius
This is by far the greatest jazz trio performance I have ever seen.
Amazing performance!
Steve Smith is on fire ..and also Hiromi and Anthony of course!
I was so in love with my drummer, who was as good as him... RIP, Vladimir.
Phenomenal musicians.
Hiromi's hands are a blur. Incredible.
Steve .... You can bang a beat ... awesome thanks.
Anthony ... Cream of the crop bassist. There is no other like him.
Man, they are all so talented. I get they play the same stuff night after night, but that makes it almost more impressive.
Hiromi is so incredible. I highly recommend all her concerts on dvd.
3 incredible musicians right at the top of their craft 🎶🎵🎶🎵👌👌👌
Amazing performance !!!!!
Steve is beyond amazing.
Primeira vez que a ouvi Hiromi tocar, foi amor imediato, ela faz a diferença!!!
E a banda é fantástica!!!
Nota 1000!!!!
Why have I never heard of this woman? She is fantastic. Steve Smith lit his drum kit on fire on his solo too. Nice playing by all.
Impressive Hiromi!!❤
There are many good musicians but few great ones...........this woman IS GREAT!
Standing O for Steve...what a life ur living brother!
This concert was just insane wow
I am not jealous of her skill, i am jealous about how much she enjoyed playing music.
AMEN
one of the worlds best leading pianists today virtuoso
She makes it look easy. What a Godsend.
Absolutely incredible. Probably the most amazing pianist ever!
Hiromi thnks Oscar Peterson was the best pianist ever.
Definitely one of the greatest.
Watched this over and over...2 words that keep coming to my mind...Pure joy
There's so much there and it's so easy to listen to. Pure genius.
3 people that could probably discuss where to get lunch all without saying a word
Chipotle it is
No one word....
i like the way the stage is setup, that all 3 can make eye contact with each other.
sho u rite
Three geniuses totally joined at the brain stem. So exciting.
Amazing, this performance is mind blowing
Safe to say no cover band will be tackling that one.... My goodness, what virtuosity all around. Steve Smith has certainly done well for himself since his early days with Journey, etc. Magnificent performances.
This song is my favorite. It always touches my heart. ‘Dançando No Paraíso’ gives me a variety of feelings. This song is so beautiful. I always thanks for Hiromi Uehara. Your music have fire power! Thank you, Hiromi❤️
On this day creator watched and felt happy seeing his creations from heaven. Bombastic performance by 3 legends)))
Well said.
damn that is amazing. i like how they stand around like approving parents during the drum solo.
this is amazing. the audience in the end is in left in shock and awe. very powerful stuff....
I can't breathe
I barely have words for the spectacularity I just witnessed.
This vid just showed up in my feed and I clicked not knowing what I'd find.
Just beautiful all around.
There aren't words in any language that describe her talent.
Having failed to find any words, you came up with a brand new one all of your own! Spectacularity.
She doesn't exactly pick second class talent to work with, does she. WOW!!! That trio has pushed its way right to the top of my list. Gotta be one of the best out there. You can really tell that drummer is having a blast.
Steve Smith. You oughta look up his history.
@@rebeltuba9422 You're right I should, or at a minimum look up what he has available on YT. I expect this is not his first rodeo, at playing with a world class group, I mean.
I'm not a drummer, but if you look up the search terms Higher Ground, Dave Weckl, and Jay Oliver together, they did some 'porn for drummers' on their cover of that song, IMHO. Actually the whole piece is awesome, one of my very favorite covers. And they both look like they are having a ton of fun.
Tim Akers and the Smoking Section and Bottom 40 do some other great stuff along those lines. I always love it when a cadre of session guys are employed. It really takes the precision and musicality up, I think. I've watched several more but right now I am drawing a blank. That happens more and more often as you get older, at least it does for me.
5:45 didn't see that coming. Loved it.
Wow!!!!
Are you kidding me!!??? I’m speechless...can barely type. Some of the greatest music I’ve heard in a long long time. I want to know one thing...how in the world could the audience keep themselves from getting up and dancing with that first tune. Damn!
They didn't because they wanted to hear every note that she played without distractions. It's all about respecting the musicians and their art.
Steve Smith an elegant MONSTER ...3 of my fav musicians..
I am very fortunate to see her perform in November in Amsterdam. Can't wait after seeing this video. Saw the Trio Project with Simon Phillips some years ago and it was awesome! Hiromi's energy and enthusiasm lift my spirit to great hights. No one like her.
It would be nice if they could use split screens...there are times there is so much amazingness happening I 'd like to see it all.
Like you have three brains! XD

Mr Jackson is such a beast on the bass! Really love his performance here and Hiromi god that piano playing is just immaculate. As a pianist myself I find it incredibly daunting yet inspiring. You will forever go down as mine and many others favorite
