    紅く染まる夕暮れの背景にラテンジャズのメロディで始まる感じがとても素敵すぎて、もう何回もこの動画を観てしまいます。そして、ドラムの激しいソロパートからクライマックスのピアノの演奏が始まった瞬間の観客の歓声。会場のボルテージが最高潮な感じがこちらにも伝わり鳥肌ものです。

    Beyond the insane level of musicianship on display, the production values of this session are exquisite. The video captures the performance perfectly. The warm tones, the art, the live audience, Hiromi’s magnificently joyful face framed by the hat cymbals during the drum solo, the hands on the instruments…they captured it all.

      That Drummer is Steve Smith. Graduate of Berklee School of Music, then Jean Luc Ponty, then various artists including Ronnie Montrose who opened for Journey when Aynsley Dunbar had the drummer chair. Journey fired Anysley and Steve Smith stepped into Journey for the big money period for the band. Steve's own band is Vital Information.

      @@burning4buddy639 Excellent compendium of this magnificent virtuoso, Steve Smith. Wouldn't have recognized him if I tripped over him. I was miffed at Journey for getting rid of one of my favorite drummers, Aynsley Dunbar powering the Journey top-tier progression scene. In retrospect, the band's format change was explosive for them worldwide. My respect for Steve Smith has been highly enhanced since beholding this marvelous performance..

    • @HardEdge53
      @HardEdge53 4 роки тому +1

      @@kingdomkom Do give yourself the treat of listening to some of Steve's work on the 1996 Trial By Fire. So much advanced technique from earlier Journey w/Steve. When they fired Aynsley as he couldn't take the poppy stuff, Ronnie Montrose was on tour as their opening act, and Steve was playing for Ronnie Montrose. I saw that concert without a clue who Steve was, until I was listening later to Enigmatic Ocean. So apparently he knew all their tunes and stepped right in. Given his ability to play complex charts without reading, I suspect Steve Perry Journey was not too much of a challenge.
      I loved Aynsley since I was in grade school and listened to my older brothers Frank and the Mothers at the Fillmore (the White Album). To this day listening to his studio version of "Of a Lifetime" is a nostalgic pleasure. But what they did to his drum sound on the 1987 "Whitesnake" was a musical crime. What a muddled mess.
      Back to Steve, from Trial By Fire, "One More" is worth listening to detect the difference. From the old Journey, "Dixie Highway" from "Captured" has some classic Steve in power shuffle mode. That is the only place that tune has ever been recorded. Thanks for the note from a fellow S. Smith fan.

      @@kingdomkom So happy to hear that you also appreciate this marvelous musician with a killer work ethic. Most people that play like he does would be satisfied, but like Dave Weckl (equally amazing) Steve never stops learning. I believe his skill set has increased the "other" Journey's audience in recent years since he rejoined for a few tours.

    Are you kidding me!!??? I’m speechless...can barely type. Some of the greatest music I’ve heard in a long long time. I want to know one thing...how in the world could the audience keep themselves from getting up and dancing with that first tune. Damn!

    I am very fortunate to see her perform in November in Amsterdam. Can't wait after seeing this video. Saw the Trio Project with Simon Phillips some years ago and it was awesome! Hiromi's energy and enthusiasm lift my spirit to great hights. No one like her.

    This is absolutely awesome play and music. Hiromi is an phenomenal piano player and musician, but that is also the drummer and bass player. I especially love the piano and drum play. This is absolutely superb play.

      The drummer and bassist are great but Hiromi is an abnormal out-shoot of the human race. She is above the class of any pianist I know. She has an abnormal ability to push what is in her brain to the keyboard with flux that is amazing. She is ambidextrous, has uncommon hand-eye coordination, superhuman memory, creativity in league with the Masters of classical music and extreme musical intelligence. I hear her compared to other musicians and I shake my head.

      Jason Latour Without doubt, Hiromi is great. But im guessing she tries to get musicians that can make her go into superhuman mode.... Steve smith on drums and Anthony Jackson on Bass are also abnormal out shoots of the human race... but almost 30 years older...
