As per usual I'm late but I promise the wait is worth it. This is the longest video I have produced in this channel (too much love for slam dunk). It took wayyyyyy too long for the research, record and edit. Then it took wayyyyyyyyy to long to upload ( almost 3GB). But hey we made it. Smashed the like button for the series and comment down below who do you wanna see next. P.s There’s a lot of information I have left out due to the length of the video. So I highly recommend you weebs to check out these websites to find out more information like why there’s so many sub-stories in vagabond and the reason behind the extended hiatus of vagabond . mangabrog.wordpress.com/2014/08/09/takehiko-inoue-the-vagabond-hiatus-interviews/ www.deviantart.com/interstateninja/journal/TAKEHIKO-INOUE-INTERVIEW-355416391
Generally from what I've gathered is that the long hiatus is due to inoue running into health problems due to the strain of his insane deadlines which resulted in sleep problems
spoilers of slam dunk manga: The last match against sannoh where Sakuragi confess his love for basketball to haruko and that last pass by rukawa and finally the unpriced longest hand slap was unimaginable for me. PS: height of ryota and takehiko are the same and they both played pg position. Will be surely star Real soon.
Dude, 10/10 to the guys who were legit and said in their feedback "we relate to the Baka than the god-given talent with a face sculpted by angels, he should be the protagonist and get the girl"... They know what's up, and thanks to them this manga is entertaining as sh!t. Most mangaka would have written Hanamichi as "the comic relief", slam dunk makes the funny guy who's "the butt of the joke because you laugh at him" the main character, and pulls it off so well that another famous manga MC, Uzumaki Naruto, gets kind of modeled after him.
Takehiko inoue is top 1 he is goated so is naoki urasawa but inoue is more relatable for me and the way his characters are written are beautiful for e.g in his work Real we see tomomi nobu and togawa which we see there struggles
Tbh, if he only continue the Slam Dunk with Hanamichi's journey thru success it will definitely be fighting for popularity againts One Piece, Naruto and Dragon Ball I always imagine Sakuragi going to America and starting his basketball life with a successful result. That airplane sound whenever he dunk always gets me this.
You're living in a separate world which doesn't reflect the reality of Japan. First of all, the character development of all the characters was completed with the end of the manga, which is why Inoue decided to end it there instead of milking it like every other shonen and sport shonen ever. Secondly, in october 2020, Shonen Jump did a poll to ask japanese readers what was their favorite shonen manga ever(only subscribers over 18 could vote) and Slam Dunk destroyed One Piece, Dragon, Naruto and Demon Slayer. When they announced the Slam Dunk movie at the beginning of last year, it broke twitter in Japan more than the Demon Slayer movie did.
Finally, some love for my favorite mangaka, Inoue! The wait was worth it, and I enjoyed every minute of it. ^^ This was a fantastic video, hats off to you good sir!
This man's works inspired me so much when I was growing up. They still do (Real and Vagabond are still not finished after all). Anyways, I was all smiles watching this video; thank you for the trip down memory lane. I don't know if your channel is still active but I've been binging it for the past few days. Still four videos to go and I'm finished. There's one name that came to my mind directly when you said that besides Obata, Inoue's art is unrivaled (paraphrasing). I agree. Although I still believe that Inoue is the best hands down, and the most versatile to boot. Still, Naoki Urusawa is kind of the goat when it comes down to it. If you ever get back to this.
Thank you for the feedback! The channel is still active but I was busy with uni work so it has been on hiatus for a while but I'm slowly working my way back.
@@YHOtaku Thanks for taking the time to reply =). I've subscribed, clicked on the bell; wishing you the best with your studies but also crossing my fingers for you to get back to this. I finished my binging session yesterday and I have to admit, I learned a lot.
I'm from Spain so I don´t usually see eanglish videos, but I think that the way you speak is relaxing so I can understand it very well. Furthermore this video is full of information very interesting. Thank you for this type of videos!!
as someone who's played sports their whole life, it's insane that I never realized the common man would think it silly of someone who's passionate about something crying because they love it that much. I wonder if it's a mindset that comes from more traditional areas than those of the modern way of thinking
this very inspiring! Im an avid fan of SD and as an illustrator this inspire me alot. I just want to make a comment regarding music every timestamp. It's very loud. maybe tone it down to match ur voice in the whole video. none the less thank you for this video!!
I've watched most of your video and still wondering why a video of this quality still having this lower amount of view -- a lot of shitty video out there getting more views and like. It's about taste I think -- again, very good job and thank you for making this video.
I hope you doing well. I still am grinding for drawing. I didn't move a lot of progress but I'm still drawing. I love these videos bro. I came back here to realize and remember why I draw.
I'm so inspired what a legend, thank you for making a very fantastic video that actually made me cry. But i also wanted to ask you. During your videos there's a beautiful piano melody that is played, can please tell me what that piano piece is called? And I'm saying this again great job man!
@@YHOtaku sure it's during the conclusion section when you're talking about how great he is and when during his inspirational quote... I'm sorry to ask you quite a big favour 🙏

Sorry mom and dad but thankfully it's not that bad I dropped out before my third semester. I learned very important stuff but still. Now that I have more resources than artists had back then I shouldn't have tried it.
Hello, do you mind if I uses a few seconds of this for a video essay I'm doing on 1 on 1? It's a Ps1 game that Takehiko Inoue did character design & story concept on. I will credit you in the video and link in the description.
26:04 are you not gonna have kentaro miura bro im not mad that he says takehiko's art is amazing (it is actually very beautiful) but is he not gonna talk about miura?
Is anyone know if Slam Dunk was axed or something? Or Inotake sensei decided to ends it? The end really feels out of no where since he was hyping up a character, but we never see him in action or the fact that the story feels not ended yet... even until today, Slam Dunk left me with a sour taste for the ending, not because it's a bad ending, it just that it feels the story hasn't end yet
Based on my research, Inotake sensei planned to end slam dunk with Shohoku losing on the 2nd or 3rd round during the serialization. He is not sure how initially, then he decided use fatigue as the reason. I don't think SD was axed by Jump as it's way too popular. It was Inotake sensei wanting to end the series he had originally planned. I do agree, it felt like the story hasn't ended yet, till this day. But maybe that's what Inotake sensei wants to portray, the dream and passion for basketball never ends.
The day Slam Dunk gets an Anime remake, the day I can die happy. First time round was ok, but man it deserves the very best adaptation because people are so lazy to read manga~
Slam Dunk has the best anime adaptation ever made. Perfect coloring, phenomenal comedy scenes that elevate what's in the manga in every way and the best soundtrack of any anime show ever. Not to mention a super efficient use of the shots and the animation despite the limited budget. A remake would be the usual over CGI'd garbage with no actual hand drawn characters and panels. Digital animation is the worst way to animate the humanity of Inoue's character and his free form trait. No thank you.
As per usual I'm late but I promise the wait is worth it.
