I first began painting cars, following Jon Kosmoski's methods, back in the 1980's. I used many of these techniques covered in this video and advocate for all of them - they work. Back then, there were no UA-cam videos, just books, so there was a lot more trial and error. I did not have DA polisher, just the old high-speed only pneumatic. No hook and loop pads, just string-tied lambs wool, etc. I did use Meguiars and 3M products. Today there are so many choices and options for painters and detailers. I really enjoy these videos. Thanks, Larry.

7424XP is the best entry level DA polisher in my opinion. Team it up with some quality pads and polishes and it can do a surprising amount of paint correction. I used one for years before recently upgrading to a Rupes.

No u don't have to re prime after air compressing contaminants out. The microfibers already have substance in them, the air was just used to throw clear coat and debris off.

I have to detail a 72 stingray Corvette. the owner is ok with claying and then polish and wax since compounding may not be the best for the original paint. what's different about a 72 Corvette's paint and fiber glass body when it comes to detailing? if I clay with my quick detailer and polish in the garage by hand is this the correct way to go?

Your show is fantastic.. i have a question about the video and the saturation of the pad with polish instead of the typical 3 to 4 drops. Does that apply to "any" polish you are using , not just the product you were using on the F40? For example, im using V38 final polish and previously using the 4 drops would i then saturate the pad with V38 as you did in this video with the polish you were using? thank you..

So, is the polish pad just simply being cleaned with Compressed air exclusively? I've got some dirty pads I've been using and my pads need to be cleaned I just don't know how.
As well, if i've got some minor scratches after using a heavy polish, do I just finish it with a lighter polish to fill it in?

Just a basic question. I'm not a detailer, have just always taken care of my vehicles over the years. It's about clear coat. When we clean, polish or wax, are we enhancing the paint job, or the clear coat. I like working with the paint only and have done wonderful work for this basic kind of paint job. Do you have any videos addressing the subject?

I think you addressed this once awhile back with another video just using water but then you still dried the pad with compressed air. Any tips without air? Also, when do you know when to clean a pad? Do you base it on the look of the pad, the amount of passes, etc?

I must say thanks great tips. I need some pointers on getting customer's everyone wants the world and don't want to pay lol. I do good work and take my time but people want me to just do it all quick and I know that they are not willing to pay for the job, the most expensive car I've done is a is a Mercedes Benz and I could have made it look awesome but they couldn't pay for the job, I snow foam, 2 bucket, 2 mitts wash, detailed interior, wheels and tires. here in NC there's not a lot of high end cars and dealership's don't want a detailer they think they already have one. man I'm lost trying to get my name out there. I use the best I can afford products and trying to save for a rupes polisher well I'm frustrated I could do cars all day if I charged like these bum car scratchers they call themselves washer I'm not one of them I just want to be a well known Detailer in my area. your opinion if you will please thanks .

+Richard Hinton Hey, i'm not a professional detailer, but I think what you need to do is just promote yourself more. Social media accounts such as twitter, instagram, facebook, craigslist ads, and youtube(maybe some tutorial vids) to show off your work and just do as many cars as you can to get the word out. People will appreciate the work you put in and it'll all pay off one day! Good luck with your future endeavors.

At 6:08 is that air or water flushing it out? What if we don't have that available? How else can you easily flush it out during each car "section" you are working on?

+LuckeeManiac super stiff tooth brush. Drag it end to end. I go through a tooth brush a week doing that.

The car looked really clean until you backed it into the stall under those lights. Could see it needed some polishing. Thanks for the videos I really enjoy the detail you put into these.

Should i wash my car with a strong shampoo before putting sealant and wax on after polishing? I guess the polish leaves some residue.

If you are removing paint while polishing than at some point you'll have to repaint the car? Or is polishing only used once in a while and then paint is sealed with wax?

    • @iHasCaek
      @iHasCaek 8 років тому +1

+coolluckyme2007 cutting the paint is their last resort. after "correcting" the paint they add layers of protection on top of the paint. they prefer to mess with the layers of stuff instead of the paint itself. wax is only ONE of those layers.

Larry, your technic is very simple and very good. After seeing old Mercedes SL video im confident with YOUR teachings. This guy complicates too much by pulling soo many informations. Also he talks a lot of already known stuff, i'll say politely.

Just polished my car, and didn’t realize how big of a difference residue plays in paint correcting a car. Have to go over and repolish parts of the car and receramic coat parts 😓

Hi. I called a well recommended detailer today. I asked for a polish and wax only for the outside of my car. 170 euros for a e46 cab. Seems very reasonable and he has been working on m2s, audi rs7s and porches. What I wonder is when he has removed the scratches then polished it with wax, do i myself have to seal it? don't you seal then wax? Or should I simply accept the car's result and spray wax it after each wash I do once a week?
