Hi guys, It seems no matter our age, we still are on that road to learning new things. I`m an English guy 75 years of age, but I learn on that same road as you teach through your Will it start type videos. I still like learning at my age, so don't stop the teaching people like me. Thanks both. Ian.

I drove one in Gulf Shores after Frederick putting shingles and trusses on buildings from one end of the island to the other. Make sure you change the filters on the hydraulics regularly. If moving it More than a mile or two trailer it. Driving top speed with blow out the hydraulic lines. The boom bushings tend to wear quick too. It's easy to work on and keep running.

Hello from up here in North Alabama.
Did you guys try to check the windings in the Solenoid on the pump. Ohm meter to see if it was open or high resistance reading. Check the new one to the old compare the values. That maybe the reason it wasn’t arcing to ground open solenoid windings. Enjoy the show. Maybe you could stop the video and ask questions what would you think it was to the people watching. First one comments correctly first get a tee shirt or hat. Thanks

  • @paullalone4718
    @paullalone4718 11 місяців тому

I have finished watching it yet, but I can tell you right now that solenoid is bad it’s not working properly for you now you can find yourself a manual on off bell for that. It’s much easier but it needs a new solenoid. I’ll see if y’all can figure it out.

I was feeling the frustration you guys where going through , working your way through each item to find it the stop/start solenoid on fuel injection pump , I gone through same things as you guys on my Landy diesel 2.5N/A engines I’ve built and it’s the last thing you least expect to be faulty but after sitting any moisture can kill them the firing can brake or it sticks in off piston all of a sudden and all u can do is replace them but I bet from the time you fit new one till it’s last day you ever use it that it won’t fail again !
Look forward to seeing part two soon looks like a good restoration of parts needed and a few hoses plus that hydraulic tank drained and cleaned before any full use as you want to get rid of any water etc in it especially if you got rams needing new seals you don’t want water getting pump up into them afterwards .

The thought occurres that Hank putting the boom out trying to get on the trailer might've tripped the overload sensor
And not resetting it could have shut the motor down
    Or
Boom out on slope = I need to stop you
Engine cut out = I really need to STOP you
More modern machines are more forgiving but older machines are basically an on/off switch to stop you killing yourself

I worked at Lull on the line as a A class Assembler every 544, 644, 844, that went down the line. There was only 1 line so all of them went down the same line the 544 was a smaller one with no boom about the size of a Alice Charmers. They dropped the 544 about 1982. There was also a 622 but that didnt last long. It was a rear drive rear steer with a spilt braking system that made tight corners easier when used in the right way it could turn on a dime But if you used it wrong it would break the axel it had two brake pedels that if not uesed the right way it snaped the axle. There was only about 100 of those built before they stopped building them. People just didnt understand how the brakes worked and they would use them in the wrong way causeing the axel to snap. When used the right way they were a good lift. They could turn on a dime and go anywhere and were a lot cheaper then the 644 or 844 they worked a lot like a zeroturn lawn mower does today.
As far as motors go the costomers could order any motor they wanted. Cats, Deutz,😮 Detroit, JD, and almost anything else. There was a few gas motors but mostly diesel were were orderd.
You could get them with cabs and with outriggers on just the front or on all 4 coners.
Those mostly went to Europe. They were tough machines and could go anywhere you wanted to. I know one of my jobs was forklift driver. I got to drive one every day for a year along wi😮th all the other lifts we had. We would go down to the lower level of the property down to the Minnesota River were we kept older parts and old stuff not needed. It was a lot of fun when there was a good rain made 4 wheeling fun on a 844 we had one of the first ones off the line we used and abused it and never broke anything on it they used it as a test machine . We did get it stuck playing on it down by the owners old house it was behind the shop it had the best veiw of the river. And was a great place to have a smoke and take a little brake. I know the machine i loved to drive was a old 20 ton lift monster we had there that lull made during the 40s into the 50s you would climb up the ladder to get up to the operators seat you were about 15 feet up with all the old levers to work it. It would lift the huge thick sheets or steel that came in by truck we could lift the whole load at one time. It was a beast. I hope they still use it in Wisconsin were they moved to when they got bought out by JGL.
I will say this that it was the best job I had there was a great bunch of guys to work with and for. They were willing to let you take any job you knew you could do. I started in the lowest job and moved on when i could.
If any of the guys happen to see this post while sitting at the lake or out on a deer stand or enjoying a beer your all retired by now so i hope life was good to you and your families
Attach a message to this post if you remember me.
And these lifts are the first of there kind. You see them in different brands now days but back then we were the only ones building them they had the patent on this type of lift for awhile till it ran out and it didnt take long for the copys' to show up at all. They knew how good they were. Its why JGL took over them there still making money of them.
Oh if anyone out there still has a 622 and in need of a parts book with all the specs and parts with there drawings I have one i would gladly give to you. Now with all the problems they had with them i think theres a 1 in a million chance of a working one still out there 😅😅😅
