Yep, I only have 2 jackets. A thick wool coat and a Kjus puffer ski jacket. After 15 years the YK zipper broke on the puffer so I sent the jacket in for repairs. This leaves me with my wool coat only, hence why I came here to add something else.

Yes... to find a handful of perfectly fitting jackets takes trying & buying lots that don't. Even within the same company & same style, one run might be perfect while another might be slightly off.
I did but I couldn't make the fit work and sold them. In retrospect I should have gotten the XL and tailored the waist. I do have the RGT cruiser in XL now and might do that. I am doing my RGT duties!

@mystergoode I’m in SoCal.. my N1 is realistically only worn Nov-Jan. If in the 60’s, I wouldn’t say it’s overkill unzipped, but you’re not going to want to do anything too physical.
Nick, I have a ton of jackets ... LOL Actually I just bought a new Filson lined jean jacket which I didn't need, (especially at my age the Old Timer) but love it, YOU need one....! LOL.... Best lined jean jacket I have ever owned and I have had more than a few... The construction is impeccable and the Cone Mills 14oz denim is really nice and lined with Alaskan Guide shirt 7oz flannel....Got this bad boy on Black Friday sale at Filson.... P.S. wore my GS Kudu boots yesterday but as much as I like them and my other boots none as comfortable as my Alden's...! Love those Alden's.... Great video buddy....Greg

A parka! Or a donkey coat is a great one that you dont see very often. Fantastic collection, think i'm at around 20 in the collection but varies between all sorts, technical, denim, chore, wool. A great fabric I have on one is Ventile cotton. Also you should try Private White VC in Manchester. Their jackets are on my grail list!

I have a poor, neglected wax shirt-jac thing in the garage that is never quite the right weight for the temperature or something, so mostly the Bean ones and similar get the nod. Canvas is good.
25 jackets? I have one north face that I bought almost a decade ago, a corderoy type 3 from Levis, and a carhartt that's old than I am that I took from my Dad's closet and most likely won't fit me anymore as I keep losing weight

I got the XL used so it had softened and conformed to the body and sleeves ahd bunched a bit and it wasn't as big and puffy as a new one - it fits great. I don't think I'd have pulled the trigger on a new one haha I tried one and it seemed bulky. Worn in is the best, as is always the case with heritage stuff! I'm 6' 190lb btw
Brilliant collection, a jacket that is missing is a B3 or similar (I know you had a flight jacket but it’s not the same). I’ve recently got one and it’s next level in terms of warmth. My deck jacket pails in comparison to it 👍
I have a silly aversion to polyester/nylon etc so I never get quilted jackets/parkas, but I think there's a Filson or two that do it with heritage materials
@@Stridewise Having a love affair w/ Barbour jackets at the moment. They make some very stylish quilted walking jackets. I prefer natural fibers over synthetic as well. I’ll never spend big $ on a synthetic jacket for city wear but I have no problem throwing on a Uniqlo puffer vest or jacket in lieu of an overpriced liner or for a lazy Sunday cozy fit. Love how much EDC one can easily carry in a parka and how well they layer. There are some waxed cotton parkas and wool puffers in the elevated menswear spaces out there but imho synthetic is definitely the way to go with a parka if you actually have to battle a winter vortex.

I’ve got a wool one from Taylor Stitch I use as a top coat when I go to the office and just casually and then a hemp one from Wellen (Huckberry) that I like but have thought about selling because I don’t really use it as much. I do live in a small city and don’t like that they TS one doesn’t have any inner pockets. Not sure how much I’d wear it if I were in a big city like NY. I really dig the deck jackets! Don’t have one yet but definitely interested in trying one. I’m between the one from Iron and Resin and Dehen 1920. Suede stains too easily, trench coat seems pointless without a hat and then it's too costumey, duster is too Mad Max, chore coat... I don't know I used to like chore coats but now not so much, I think they lengthen me too much?
@@Stridewise i get what you mean with suede staining...though i only see that happen on suede shoes/boots....jackets/coats tent to hold up a bit more as do most jackets...when it's cold and dry out i reach for my suede jacket first..
