I've had better sucess playing GameCube and wii games thru Linux on the switch
@@ooodt69 The wiiu can because its running them natively (true natively, not "natively" as the title of the vid states since the 3ds thing is emulation) through the vwii gamecube backwards compatibility.
@@ooodt69 its becuase the switch runs off a arm cpu so it has to emulate it and the wii u runs a power pc cpu just like the gamecube/ wii so it can run natively with out emulation
@@magicbeanman772 the Wii is based on the Gamecube. There's actual Wii hardware in the Wii U, so not really emulation
It's always a good day to see a TC video with the crew. Hope you've been alright and been trying to make the best of this chaotic year. On a sidr note,the progression of the switch modding scene has been incredible, it's moving quicker then I ever expected it to. May the 3ds finally rest for a bit after so long, stay safe.

I’d actually sell my 2DS if they brought ORAS and Zelda Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask to the Switch. Those are some of my favorite games, and they’d be even better in glorious HD.

I could use some help. How can one setup Project Restoration with Majoras Mask 3D. I have tried getting it to work on retroarch by placing the mods in the retroarch -> cores -> savefiles -> Citra directory but nothing changes in game.

I think 'Natively' implies that there is no emulation. This is not the case, as the hardware of the switch is most different. Otherwise, thank you for sharing.
in this context I think he is saying that the Emulator itself runs natively in Atmosphere/horizon. VS booting the switch into lakka or android. the sentence could have be phrased better for sure.
So for example, DS games on 3DS would be native and not emulation?
@@hr6160 I think they both use ARM but not the same, I commonly see ARM9 and ARM11 related stuff online for the 3DS
@@phrog.4809 yes because the 3ds has ds hardware it doesn't pretend to be a ds, it is a ds and a 3ds
Have you been able to get “a link between worlds” to work?
So what overclock speed should I use and what do I need to know? I want to be careful and not break stuff. Is the lowest CPU setting the CPU setting the Switch natively uses or does it actually make the switch lower?
Can put it on max for all. Tesla menu knows the cutoff points so you shouldn't need to worry about damaging your switch. The switch btw fun fact is severely underclocked by default. Dunno why Nintendo chose to make it that way.

Friend, how do you configure retroarch to emulate 3ds so well, plus what core do you use, since it runs very fluid
Citra Libnx Core in Retroarch. Retroarch doesnt come with it by Default so you will need a build that comes with it and the folders for setup.

Hi late but you can adjust the display in retroarch. There is a setting for it I believe which works!

It's manual you go on the settings and you control the screen size

@@kadz2779 Yeah, but every time I try it, the touch screen moves, but the area of the screen which I'm supposed to touch doesn't. It rotates the video, but it doesn't change the input, and I could never get it to work on my Switch.

Me too but the reason for me is my Switch is patched (Or just bad USB-C cable, websites say they don't know if my Switch is patched or not)

I really want to try it out but the issue is that every stinking time I use it the last time it just would crash on me and wouldn't work at all :( it was also around the time I was testing out different games, couldn't even manage to do that either >n> it would be nice if you or someone made a tutorial on how to properly set this up cause idk anymore, everyone on gbatemp says its playing smoothly for them but here I am with a busted one lol. I am thinking of just waiting for the full release of it.
Reason it runs smoothly for them is they are overclocking the switch's cpu, gpu and memory and running it. Unfortunitely you can only overclock the cpu in retroarch's settings. But thanks to tesla you are able to overclock the gpu and memory as well achieving fantastic results! Also if that doesnt work might I suggest trying to download a more recent citra core. :)
@@toonzelda3353 so I ended up getting a nintendo 2ds xl, got the money to afford one, I also found out more information for how to run certain emulations on the switch especially the GameCube one which I wanna try but at the same time, I can't cause I am low on storage lol.
And I don't think I will be able to afford an upgraded micro SD from my older one any time soon.

How did you get the games to appear on the home screen individually instead of having to boot up the emulator first?
Download Nro2Nsp. You can have the NSP forward straight to the rom.
@@Bruz3lytheOtaku Actually Nro2Nsp doesn't work anymore. You would need to use a GUI 12+ forwarder tool that will allow you to install any roms directly to the switch's homescreen. You can search it up to find it but yea Nro2Nsp crashes any game roms if you try to open them after trying to create and install a forwarder for the game. Think of a forwarder as a shortcut almost. It searches for the game on your sd card along with the core and then runs it right off the bat.
Great video, thinking of getting a switch, can you jailbreak or (MOD) the new switches? (Red box). So far of what I want is to play retroarch games NES,SNES,N64,GC,3DS...ect. and hopefully backup switch games? Without getting banned. Thanks.
You can’t mod the new ones, only the older models are capable
Only with a modchip you can hack newer models, and their hard to get.

I am on the fence on getting this setup for fear of getting banned by Nintendo. Would installing homebrew and retroarch alone be probable cause to getting banned?
Installing homebrew and retroarch wont get you banned as long as your offline. As soon as you go online you run the risk of getting banned. By modding a switch infact your accepting those risks. That being said there are ways to completely block every single one of Nintendo's IP addresses and mask your switch so it has a blanked out serial number. That way they can't track anything even if you do go online lol.

Retroarch has a built in setting that allows you to change the screen layouts. If you hit + and - at the same time you can open the quick menu and the toggle which screen layout you want. But do please note that you will need to memorize where your items are which caaan be a hassle sometimes so I usually keep it on 2 screens. 1 with a big screen and 1 as a tiny screen.
But how do you do it now? Do you have instructions?

It’s called the retroarch rom forwarder. Look it up. It’s pretty easy to set up.
