They look both great as almost every Leica. Nevertheless, I would vote for the silver chrome MP. Had the BP MP years ago. A looker camera but too shiny and the silver parts do not really fit on the black paint body. The chrome MP or M-A have something more appealing (to me anyway). Good thing we can still choose between film camera finishes thanks to Leica, plus bravo for bringing back the M6👍
Thank you for the very nice video and content. Please do the comparison video including your upcoming M10R black paint. I think everyone would be looking forward and appreciate it!!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I will do an episode where I compare all the black paint Leica cameras including the m2/3/4/6, and I’ll talk about the difference in paint job and such.
@@colinzhang9064congratulations! Btw, I’ve heard a few cases where ppl complained about sticky/rubbery shutter issues after a short period of usage, and I’m really worried about it. You don’t notice that, do you?
@@JimmyCheng Hi Jimmy, I have a wechat group, ppl discussed this issue. It is super concerned. They mentioned they have found 3 out of 5 returned for repair. I haven't seen the shutter issue on my 10-r BP(maybe because I haven't used it too much). I wish there is a way to easily identify the issue and validate if my baby will be affected.
@@colinzhang9064 damn that's a concerning rate. I suspect it is because of a part used in the shutter which tend to malfunction over certain period of usage. Because I read on a forum that someone got it fixed in store by replacing the part from one taken from a brand new m10r.
@@robiulahmedThose two cameras have always been on my radar! I used a Pentax kx (which is similar to k1000) with the Pentax 50 1.2 in my motion picture film stock video and I have to say it feels like a tank, much more beefy than the Nikon fm2 and on the same level as F2 (which I used briefly before). I couldn't find a good copy of f2 within reasonable price range lately :(
@@JimmyCheng I bought an F2 recently, but it needs a service and now I'm on Sover Wong's waiting list. Apparently, he fixes them up good as new! I definitely think Pentax is up there with the best of them. They're so underrated. But anyway, love the videos, keep up the good work!
@@robiulahmed My old Pentax Spotmatic II is nowhere near the Nikon in terms of robustness and durability. In fact it's very fragile, (cracked hot shoe base, loosening strap lugs, flash (X) jack connector that popped off and lost. And this was a camera that had little use (and never abused)
I don’t think the BP MP will become as popular as even the BP M4. BP is the standard MP model whereas the M4 had a very limited production run of BP. The A la carte is a different story though. I just hope there won’t be people out there getting disappointed when their BP MP doesn’t go up in value.
@@24fps81 well that applies to mp in general not just the special ones if you looked at it this way. But it’s been on the Leica film camera catalog for a long time so can’t really say it’s a combination of left over parts can we?
@@JimmyCheng The a la carte program was pretty cool, I have seen several interesting engraving on the MP like people initial and meaningful symbols. Customizing it to make it looked like a original M4/M2 is just little boring for that money. Also you mentioned about increasing value potential, original M2 M3 or M4 are probably better bet in long term.

Mate we have the same tastes! I also wanted the silver bits black! Such a beauty they are congrats !
ha! too gorgeous to be used lol.
Definitely, Regular Black paint. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I take the A La Carte version but leave the serial on the top plate to have a clean and symmetrical hot shoe, thank you very much sir 😌
I already have a nicely-brassed M9 so I’m hoping to get a silver M11. I’ll have to wait and see once they’re announced.
Nice. so you skipped the m10 generation? Upon hearing they're gonna remove the brass bottom plate, I placed an order on the limited m10r black paint.
@@JimmyCheng yes although I do have a Q2 Monochrom. I’ll be happy if the M11 shares the same battery.
Enjoyed this video, for sure. Makes me want to pick up a black paint MP to go along with my black chrome a la carte MP! :-)
Haha 😆 I’ve accomplished my mission then.
Black paint M6 will always worth more than MP because most are limited models, like my M6 LHSA Black Paint only has 650 0.72 copies.
Absolutely, I have a NSH Japanese limited m6 too, it’s about the same price as this a la carte mp

My M10-R black paint arrived a few weeks ago. I cannot love it more.

Nice strap! Where did you get it?
which one are you talking about?
如何购买定制版MP?另外定制版可以选择MA的银色ISO指示盘么?
如同我视频里说的,现在已经不能定制了,所以只能网上找二手的。
G - gear
A - acquisition

We have to confiscate ALL (including credit cards and debit cards) , of Jimmy's cards.
Save him from the GAS
lol good thought bro
How did you brass it ?
The M3 you mean? I used some sand paper with different grain degrees and did it in 2 hours time myself lol
Nice one, Jimmy. If you could do a Leica vs Nikon comparison, that would be awesome!
I actually did a comparison between Leica m6 + summilux 50 and Nikon fm2 + nikkor 50 1.2, you might want to check that out (it was in Chinese though)
@@JimmyCheng Ah yes! I actually did watch that one! And if you get GAS any time soon, then I'd recommend either a Nikon F2 or a Pentax K1000 😊

I don't like the plastic ISO dial of MP, M2 and M3 is always better.

I got a new MP in black shall I sell my M6 TTL or keep it for investment ?
If you can sell it for 4000 usd+ then do it otherwise keep it.

Thanks bro!
With that kind of money I much rather get a M4 black paint
why is that though? I much prefer the design/usibility of an mp
MP a la cate is a beautiful frankenstein MP-6. It has a M4 BP look combing with M3 lever, film winder and M6 TTL style meter. I prefer original :)
