For those curious about the clip of Olivia saying she's an introvert - I believe her! But! I personally also think the personality type that fits her most closely is the one discussed at the end of this video.
We ALL have an introverted and extroverted side that pops out in different contexts! Contrary to popular belief - the E and I in your MBTI personality type isn't actually talking about your social introversion or extroversion! It's talking more about the wiring behind your behavior - cognitive introversion or extroversion! In which arenas do you like going outward and exploring, and in which arenas do you like going more inward and introspecting?
Your personality type can be an E but you can still have a strong socially introverted side, and vice versa.
This is why a lot of people type and get mixed results as "ambiverts"!
She recently said that she always thought she was exclusively a introvert but that lockdown made her realize shes more of an ambivert
I was just about to ask a question about that :) I feel like I would perform extroverted feeling in social situations but I'm an introvert so I need lots of me time with boundaries where I don't prioritize others

I always thought she’s a very extroverted person. Even though she says she’s an introvert, but she’s so bubbly all the time and it seems like she’s a people person. I’ve never got the introverted vibe from her.

Really well said! As an INFP it would be difficult to be agreeable with certain types of people, though I do try as I get older to develop a more agreeable demeanor without feeling like I’m betraying who I am. I’ve always really valued and sort of looked up to Fe users. The way they are able to navigate through almost any social situation seamlessly is a real super power. I think when I was bullied as a kid, I really envied people like that and I still kinda do! They are able to help people in a way that I struggle to because it’s so difficult to put myself aside and focus on what is at hand.
I think Grimes would be an interesting person to analyze. Her functions are pretty clear but I still enjoy the way how you analyze and explain your typings a ton

Hi Eric! I kept thinking to myself while watching this, "ugh I wish I could see the traits of an INTP personality type reflected in a public figure," as I am an INTP and then you happened to disclose that you're also one as well! I would love to see a video that creates connections between your own way of processing as well as another person's. This would be deeply insightful and interesting to see, plus personally grounding for me haha

This was super fun to watch! I think you could have gotten a lot more information if you had watched the live she did before her debut, which is on her youtube channel, or the instagram live she did with friends after driver's license came out. Just by watching it really made me feel like we were on a videocall. It felt way more personal, as it is a very different context from the interviews :)

Eric, what do you think about her being an ENFJ? People on personality database have made some convincing arguments to support that she is more of an Ni-Se user rather than Si-Ne. But ESFJ makes a lot of sense too.

I came to this only recently and very much enjoyed it. I think the inclusive/group-oriented side that you describe, Eric, is part of the reason she is so popular on a “personal” level. In a way, that is her greatest success - millions of people really like HER.

i’d love to be friends with someone like Olivia she’s very comforting and including because i’m someone who second thinks a lotta and likes to feel comforted
I think Olivia is an ISFJ, E types usually are center of attention (INFPs are the only I types that get attention when they talk, but it comes from their own feelings). She sees like she tries her best to make others the centers. Her songs make her come off as an introverted feeler because that’s who she is when she’s alone (and when you’re alone you can finally talk about your own feelings). However, when she is around others she tries to make them feel comfortable, which is the extroverted feeler trait.

@@EricWen I think like every person has a persona type that they put up when they’re interacting with people, then they have the one they truly are. I interpret Olivia persona to be an extrovert, but deep down she is introverted feeler. Her true self feels most comfortable when she puts others in the spotlight. She keep her deepest emotions to herself, until she is songwriting (she has more control over how much she shares). I hope I explained it right, I’m still new on MBTI
she's an enfj , there are good arguments me and others have made on the personality database if you'd like to check it out
@@laurenstone209 yeah I changed my mind since I last commented, she acts TOO MUCH like an extrovert in order to not be one. My brother is an ENFJ, and I can see similarities between them. They both communication by using their intuition to base how others feel. But I still wanna hear your explanation/arguments though
I get your point but I personally beleive she is an ESFJ,I hava an ESFJ friend that we all thought she was an ISFJ as she was "blending with the background" like you say but she turned out to be an ESFJ ...what I want to say is,the whole time watching this video I felt like I was watching my ESFJ friend,the reactions,the attitude,the mind,ths way of talking,the gestures,litterly EVERYTHING!ESFJs just have a specific vibe and that's what I personally get from my ESFJ friend and also Olivia

woah this was really really interesting
I always looked at myself as an INTJ, but after looking at my behaviors a bit more, I might be an INFJ instead. Most INTJs like to argue, while I feel extreme anxiety arguing my points because I don't want to disrupt the group harmony, or on a smaller scale, having people be on the defensive so I won't get a clear-cut answer anyway. At the same time, I'm very pragmatic in my approach to problem-solving while also taking into account others' feelings with my decisions.

If you’re pretty clued into the group harmony thing discussed in this video, you likely ARE an INFJ! INTJ’s actually struggle more than most with Extroverted Feeling - constantly needing to take other people’s feelings into account is a blindspot or more foreign uncomfortable to them whereas for an INFJ, it’s quite natural and automatic.
INFJ’s also have a strong logical side to them too which is why it’s not too surprising if you accidentally mistyped as INTJ. Their version of logical decision making likes asking - what makes sense to me at an individual level? It’s very interested in congruency, a personal fit and finding accuracy. It’s the type of thinking I do and this channel does all the time haha
INTJ’s with their Extroverted Thinking tend to be very task oriented, into resource management, systems thinking and output focused.
INFJ’s with their Extroverted Feeling tend be more oriented around group harmony, appropriateness, and managing social dynamics and emotional needs.

I think something important to notice, regardless of the introverted/extroverted feeling dynamic… the F types tend to focus on social harmony and be big on emotional expression.
