This unit seems really cool it does tick a lot of boxes for me but not all the boxes. Like: No SDI No remote video features ( think streaming bridge) Losing Two Inputs (price point reasons) Other points I think they lose on but could remedy in the future. No companion cameras It seems one of the outputs only out puts program so not programmable at the moment. However keep in my I do large scale production so I think this would be great for smaller productions.
Looks good but $1200 dollars is alot to ask for - with OSEE at 299 with 4 HDMI, USB camera support - i don't see the benefit of this RodeCaster Video besides the extra HDMI imputs.
Hello Ruben, I have worked with the RCV as a beta tester, and am very impressed with it's capabilities. The ISO recording, high quality program recording, auto switching, ability to connect wireless PRO, video playout, scenes, ... make it a really powerfull device. I have a video about the RCV on my channel.
Another product that is already undersized at launch with its only 1080P input. Had it been input 4K, it would have been the best. But limiting it to 1080P makes it have no interest 🤨
4K ISO would have made this switcher extremely compelling - even at the price point. There's more to learn about it but on initial glance, it seems like a hard sell. After so many years with an ATEM Mini Pro, I have been wanting to get the ISO version but am trying to wait and see if there will be an updated model. And while 4K may not be a priority now, we're going to be moving in that direction moving forward - even Tom Buck has migrated to 4K livestreaming.
If there is one weakness, straight away, it's the absence of an SDK/API in order to integrate it with centralisation and other automation tools like Companion or Central Control, alias Streamdecks. Now they want to tell us that they have optimized and simplified things, so that we don't need to go down that road. But reality is, that a lot of us have complex workflows where these automation tools make it possible to automate highly complex productions. But they may answer, that the Rodecaster Video is may be not the right tool to implement in those scenarios to begin with.
Interested in this, as I used to advise people to grab the Roland VR-1HD for its similar simplicity and functionality... With it disappearing from the market and no replacement from Roland yet on that simple level, this is looking like a reasonable upgrade! My question: I see communication about controlling HDMI/USBC devices, am I mis-reading / hearing that it could also potentially source Network cameras via the Ethernet connection? Or is my brain missing the connection that it can just be remotely CONTROLLED via network. Could this also be used to add a PTZ camera without the added cable through the network? I don't see any communication about that side of things on the couple videos available today LOL
The ethernet port on the RODECaster Video is for internet connection, and to connect it to your computer for streaming and the control software. You can still add a PTZ camera to the RODECaster, but it would have to be via HDMI, or USB-C, if the camera supports video output via USB. You still need to control the PTZ camera via their own control or control software. RODE Central is the software that works when connected to a computer to adjust more advanced features of the RODECaster Video.
@@BandH Appreciate that explanation!! Would be awesome to have a Simplified, RELIABLE, combined hardware PTZ controller AND streamer with this general layout. That would simplify what I suggest for the small churches that I help out. But as just a replacement for the VR-1HD, It is already a simpler (albeit not inexpensive) solution than the other options available.
If one already has a Rodecaster Pro II or Duo and a setup with a switcher, i agree. But if you're a solo creator who is looking to upgrade audio capabilities and (maybe) save money on Ecamm with easily configured professional scenes, this could be a very, very good option.
I don't feel so bad that even at such a big company like BnH there are still audio issues with their live stream. Lol
Hopefully they add 4k and 4 inputs for mics.

Thanks for the interesting talk. Still very strange how you have an audio issues and the image is 1 stop darker than optimal.

Live Auto Cut alone makes it very intressting

I'd rather have ISO than 4k, and it's not feasible to have both in this form factor.
4k is a waste of money for most. Hardly any video streams are out out in 4k, and even fewer are consumed in 4k.

@@onocoffee Agree, I think I will look into RGBlink instead

Probably a subscription service "Pro" upgrade along with 4K sometime in the future.
Max stream resolution is 1080/60 but what is the max resolution when you're not streaming just recording the whole thing?
The max resolution that the VIDEOCaster can record is 1080p30 as a H.264/AVC file.
@@BandH that's very disappointing with an otherwise amazing device. To integrate 1080p in your workflow at the end of 2024 is a huge mistake.

It's like they're all saying "Blackmagic Design" and "Ecamm Live" under their noses.
Toooooo expensive for a 4 camera inputs, plus is only 1080. yeah is over priced.

Honestly i’m searching the internet and i’m sure that most 4K switcher, recorder and streamer with XLR inputs start at like 7,000$
