This is exactly why I fell in love with JB in 1976 when I was 12 years old. No one quite understands what I mean when I say he's gotten me thru good times and bad. No one quite understands why, 22 years ago, I named my son Jackson. My husband doesn't know why we must continue to see him every chance we can when he tours. It's not something I can truly justify with words....I've just been touched in way I can't explain..and so gratefuly for the experience.
Same here. Same age
I "get you" Deb...
Deb D I understand. And share.
Let me say the reason you can’t explain is cause you picked the best of the best. There’ve been thousands of songwriters who influenced people...and then there’s Jackson.
I am a musician, let me try and explain it to you.......it’s like a drug ,a sedative. Music does not just speak to the hears it plays on emotions, feelings and also lives in your heart. Everyone see’s/hears it differently. The best part it means something different to everyone........ahhh the magic of music, I can’t imagine a life without it.
It's why I'm a 70 year old man and he still makes me cry
Never be another
Hail Jackson!!!!
its rare to find a musician who is as good alone and raw as he is onstage with a band- but Jackson is definitely one of those people who always performs with his whole heart and sounds wonderful
This is what music videos should be.
Proof that a guitar and a voice can stop the world in it's tracks.
I find myself getting knowingly intwyned in Jackson's songs. I am 45 and have been threw the ringer of life. I find myself wounded and lying on the shore, knowing the end is near, but his songs give me a soothing calm. thanks jackson
or start it...
true
& a universal heart
i watch my father listening to JACKSON BROWNE after he found out his twin bother was told he had A.L,S . NOW I KNOW WHY HE LOVES J.B , SOMETHING FINE ,
Saw his show last night in Providence, RI. Three hours! Awestruck. He very plainly indicated that he had no set list and asked the audience to call out requests. We were fortunate to be in the third row and I asked for this song - my favorite. He smiled and pointed at my wife and me, retrieved this very guitar (from about two dozen on stage racks!) and he sang it beautifully, a highlight for me from one of my favorite performers. I play it myself and have always found comfort in it. Thanks Jackson. Thank you.
+Martin Weiss so stoked you and your sweaty had that experience !
I love me some Jackson Browne!
coupla nights ago in San Diego 3 hrs ....taking requests from audience ..couldnt get the Dylan song in his key ....fun watching him try....."77 Sports Arena now still selling out 3000 seats, sings his soul off and letting his fantastic band shine shine shine
I was at that show with my dad! I may have been the youngest person there (18). It was a great way for him to introduce me to a musician I had never heard of.. one of my favorite shows to date.
I am a native of Newport, RI and am so happy you had this experience. When the CV-19 epidemic ends, I will experience his concerts. Thanks for your post.
We are so lucky to have a poet like Jackson.
Jackson is the finest lyricist on the planet, bar none...I am verging on groupie status as I wait to go to concert #12. A dozen has a nice ring to it & I can always make it an bakers dozen.
Late For The Sky makes me cry... ♪
You have no idea what a gift you have given me this evening. This man has meant more to me than I can say, for oh, so many years. What a beautiful, spiritual human being, gifted beyond words. Thank you.
No flash, simplicity...these singers are the Soul of what it is all about...stay healthy.
I would argue greatest singer/songwriter of any generation.
A true Minstrel. An instrument, voice and things change around you. Thanks Jackson.
And every time we're blessed by hearing him sing and play one of his beautiful songs, he gives us a taste of 'something fine.' He's one of a very few singers/songwriters whose voice gives me goose bumps and brings tears to my eyes. Also a fan for nearly 40 years, I never grow tired of listening to these 'old' songs. They almost get better over time - just as he does. Like I keep saying, I only hope and pray that he'll continue to make music for many more years to come!
I never get tired of listening to this brilliant man.
Wow...just stumbled across this version...what a gift...heartfelt and raw...like he's in the living room. Beautiful.

Jackson... he saved my live...
LOVE LOVE LOVEfrom Hamburg Germany...
@@yamapenny5960 ...ironic , he has the same effect on many of us. So many songs ...truthful and heartbreaking at the same time.
Timeless genius....

How can a song so simple be so sweet and yank my heart into my throat? Thanks
I'm happy that Jackson and his people have decided to release his masterworks in an acoustic, stripped-down fashion. There's something remarkable about the combination of Jackson's voice+ his words and melodies played on an old Gibson acoustic.
What masterworks are you referring to? I'm not aware of it, but interested.
I used to sing this song to my boy at night when he was going to sleep. He was only 4 or 5 but he got it . He’d say dad sing the “ fine “ song. It helped dispel the fear that tends to linger at night and sometimes keeps us from drifting off because it isn’t exactly happy or sad its just real and reminds us that our lives are filled with things that are fine
Jackson has been the soundtrack to my life...and I'm happy about that!
Jackson ended up finding true love as well as the legal tender. More power to Jackson. He earned it. What he also has is millions of fans who love him, his music, and his brilliant songwriting.
what a cool tune by one cool man,,,,
He just doesn't settle for words.
He chooses the perfect word.
Well done Jackson
And the music
Plays on.
I have been in love with this man since I was 7 and was introduced to his incredible songs on the piano..which I have been playing for 35 years now. I was recently able to share this with him. You can honestly see this man's beautiful soul when looking into his eyes...
wow Lee did you get to play for him?
His Voiceand Songs just blow me away, one of the finest songwriters EVER!.
I have been trying to figure out how to play this tune for a while, and thanks to this video I 'think' (could be wrong?) the A string is tuned down to G....
Just to be able to write just one song as good as any of Jackson's would make me proud for life!...A true artist, a true genius. "Thank-You" Sincerely for sharing this most intimate of performances.
As a longtime activist, it is encouraging to hear & understand there is one person who has articulated in song the effort made. Resonant energy keeps the vibration alive.
Like a fine wine.
One of the greatest lyricists. So love JB❤
I love the fact that Jackson is at his desk and playing this as either to see if he wants to do it in the next show or just to do it and record himself doing it, but a master at his desk is always a brilliant take, like an artist who finds the right color of shadow to make what is otherwise there in existence, shine for that moment. The tears make a smile brighter. It inspires me.
I love him so much. I can't imagine life with out Jackson Browne.
Me too. He's always there like your dearest friend.
great singer
We sawJackson 4 times in Holland, Amsterdam, still one of The best singer songwriter, a good man. This song so verry deep in our thoughts, heart. Love his music for a lifetime. Jackson keep on writing these beautiful songs , and lots of thanks for those we know and won t forget.
This is the one i keep coming back to. So much emotion in this, even the light that plays along in the video gets it.
This is a phenomenal gift. The people that will keep you music alive for the next 200 years are the people who play a 6 strings, flat boxers, gamblers in the neon clinging to guitars. Teach them how and they will happily keep your songs alive.
Mr. Browne's guitars are always clean and polished. He is a true artist.
Amazing as always.
2021 still listening.
Just love him. One of the best song writers ever too.
I love this kind of laid back, stripped down acoustic magic. Smooth in its rawness ... perfect in its imperfection.
Thank you, Mr. Browne.
great song
who couldn't love this man?

@@mikeyo3230 There's something seriously wrong with her!
legend
It took me months to learn how to play this song. I learned to play it in 1978. The tuning is very unique...like nothing I've ever heard before. He sings about his internal thoughts and I think that is why not everyone can relate. He is a poet, and not everybody gets poetry. That's OK though. I think everyone dreams about Something Fine. It's different for everyone, but they know what something fine is in their own mind. That's why this song is universal.
something fine - thanks Jackson
Tuned down a half step in drop-G tuning, when you first play these wonderful chords it's like gently engaging the lever on that movie 19th century time machine. You aren't sure if time is passing at first but the notes ring so pleasantly you just sit back and enjoy the trip.
Thank you Jackson
It’s actually just the A string tuned down to G. Everything else is standard.
@@roblarson9065 Hey Rob, I was just trying to play along with this today...A is tuned to the G string but the entire guitar is tuned down a whole step.
tuned down - yes@@trugravity1
An aging voice that just ages well...
Must of worn out a couple LP's listening to JB singing this song. Still takes me away. Thanks Jackson and Fretboard!
That's part of the beauty of a well crafted song. It is open for your interpretation.
Perhaps you can smile and recall your "something fine" moment.
Thank you for sharing this. this is testament to the beauty of Jackson Browne's songs, that he can sing a 40+ year old song and still evoke tears... timeless poetry and emotion in the lyric, and music that matches. Bless you, Jackson Browne
Beautiful Jackson.
Great vibe...
Love You Jackson Browne
Too precious for words, I just love love Jackson Browne .
I'm a fan going way back in the 70's. I am still a fan and well on my way to the 70's! You look and sound great Jackson!
tender and true.
One of my favorite songs of all time. A guitar players dream song. Thanks Jackson.
Jackson Browne is so, so fine.
I Too love this man's music and have since I heard him play back in California in the 70's
I have been listening for 35 years and am still blown away each time I hear the beauty and meaning in his songs..........thank you for this video
BEAUTIFUL
Priceless !! He's the best...
love this man so much....seeing this friday at the beacon in nyc...can't wait!!! 40 years and his music still evokes tears...
I first listened to jackson browne when I was 19 in 1976. I've seen him numerous times. I love his music. He is truly remarkable. I had tickets to see him amd James taylor back in may, but the show was cancelled. Needless to say, I was quite bummed.
My two favorites.
Very beautiful
Been playing this to soothe my soul for close to 40 years . So wonderful to hear it raw! 😍
He is a great musician and I'm only 19. My dad got me listening to him and I love the feel and setting to his music. Thx for the post!
An all time favourite; both the artist & the song!
lost a 30 yr plus friend a while back, 1st thing I did was grab my guitar and went to the covered bridge at Tyler park. Played this in tears for about an hour. something fine
Dave McElderry - so sorry about your friend, Dave.
jrh11254 thanks the world was a bit more fun when Jeff was here
I know that bridge well, we use to rent and ride horses through there while attending BC3 for music. Loved playing the pianos in Tyler hall as well.Sorry to hear you lost a close friend but I'm glad this wonderful song was some comfort to you in your time of sorrow.
Mike McHugh thanks, been playing there since the 70s when the old one was still there . Bridge therapy
Amazing
Jackson is a Master of his craft.. amazed..
truly something fine!! Still rocks !!
Love this song. Thanks Jackson!
This was the first Jackson Browne song I ever heard. Still brings a chill down my spine, even hearing it 40+ years later. One of the greatest songwriters of any generation, his songs transcend time and will always be relevant.
Thanks for sharing, just as good as any studio version. Nicely done!
thanks Jackson...God Bless You! Peace.
Listening to him is a religious experience. If there is a heaven, he belongs there, for all the exquisite grace he's shown us over the years............a VERY RARE combination of lyrical and instrumental greatness.
Major Like !!!
Left breathless. One sweet ballad of many from my song hero, Jackson Browne.
And that voice.
My spirit is calm now. What a blessing.
best songwriter of his generation. period. totally underappreciated
I disagree. Everyone I talk to loves his work; one young lass that I played this song for from my phone loved it so much(it was the first she'd heard of him) the next time I saw her she knew his entire catalogue and could not stop raving about how good he was. I don't think he's underapprecciated at all.
thank you for this beautiful song
superb !
awesome.
Very nice
Such an amazing lyricist. And a great video. Sitting here in awe.
One of my favorite songs. All the better that he mentions Morocco where I lived as a teenager in the 80’s.
as i keep growing older, I return to this song... like a thread running through me.... the sadness and bittersweetness richer with each visit. Like the bannister behind Jacks worn smooth by a host of people rising and returning from upstairs... so, too, am I, the rough edges worn smooth by so many hands... thank you Jackson.
Wow! so nice to here this kind of music, thanks Jackson Brown
Sometimes you simply need nothing more.
That really is something fine.
words cannot express how deep this touches my heart & my soul. Thank you so much for this post & thank God for Jackson every time I hear him sing........♥
I remember buying this record in75 I had just come back from Morocco with something fine .this song has so much spirt and it still moves me....
"Somewhere there's a feather floating" I love that. A 17-18yr old Jackson Browne!
Forever my favorite Musician.
I was not born yet when this was recorded but I caught up. Thank God 🙏❤️🎶
ยอดเยี่ยมมากๆ ค่ะ รักเสียงร้องของท่าน รักท่านที่สุดค่ะ
This is what I love more than anything...a wonderful singer/songsmith and his guitar giving us an honest, raw rendition of a sweet, emotional song...timeless, elegant introspection....truly a taste of something fine...
Thank You!!
He paints a beautiful image extracting the most beautiful tones from his instrument.
Jackson Browne's performance here of his beautiful song 'Something Fine' is extraordinary, as immediate, personal and intimate as if he's singing it for the first time. The vintage Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe has a unique voice, complimenting the vocals with a warmth and sweetness like no other guitar sound. The great Jackson Browne! Amazing! Thanks!
Something fine or thoughts on Morocco is one of my favorite Jackson Browne tunes. How much to play that record over and over again until I could play it right. He's one of my all-time favorite songwriter musicians. Thank you ❤.
I got to see him live solo in Redding in late 2017. I couldn't believe what a fine guitar player he is. I bow down. Jackson is a fine player.
So So good-thanks JB!
